I have this guitar and can't find fault with it: fit and finish, tonal capabilities due to 2 serious humbuckers with coil split due to push/pull pots and another one on one of the tone pots to play humbuckers in/out of phase. The neck is mahogany with a Indian laurel fingerboard (a relative of the rosewood variety, or so it appears); good frets with no sprouting and nicely dressed. The neck and body are bound, a very nice appointment--there is a lot to this guitar for approximately $500. Get the Epiphone branded hard shell case for another $140 or so and enjoy a perfectly matched set. Everything is top notch here, from the best pots and electronics and is well worth a test drive before you take it home, of which I have no doubt that you will.
It truly is a great guitar. Took me a while to setup the action and neck to my liking. There were a couple of frets that needed bit of levelling. But that goes for most guitars. The pickups are great sounding stock, although I changed the magnets to A2's and they sound even better to me now. Very vintage sounding.
I have the Les Paul Muse, but it has the same pick-ups and tonewood as your Classic. Epiphone really outdid themselves with these latest Les Pauls. There is everything to love about them!
Thanks. Since then I have gone through several mods to the pickups. I'll be posting the Alnico II video soon right after i finish editing it. Be sure to subscribe to catch it.
Good demo. I'm looking forward to that demo with Alnico 2. I'm trying to decide between the Modern and the Classic and then replace the pickups with Aliexpress' probuckers.
If you do order from Aliexpress, make sure those are the 5 wire connector humbuckers since this guitar has the 5 pin connectors. I just got a pair of probuckers from Aliexpress, turns out they sent the 2 wire version and won't return.
@@phillipholt6005 Not much. I'm a sound engineer and I care about sound. Also, I don't have space for more than two guitars and I want them to be perfect for me. Last guitar I bought was 10 years ago. Why so salty? Btw I ended up buying a Schecter Custom Solo II, but I may still change the pups in the future.
@@AstralToneworx I ordered mine from Sweetwater and it arrived about as good as I could want it to. The action feels perfect for me. Not too high and zero fret buzz. They do a really good job with their pre inspection
I bought this slightly used and the last owner swapped the Classic truss cover with a blank one. Apparently, they lost it. If yours is new, it should have a Classic truss cover.
@@sciencesaves Thanks. I really like it so far. The colour is very classic LP and the knobs are beautiful. It weights a ton though. I have already modded the Alnico V's to Alnico II's which makes the pickups same specs as 57 Classics. I'll do a video comparing the two.
@@christopherdidonna2796 Sounds like a real sweet deal. Is it the worn version? I was very tempted to get the worn Gold top but couldn't find one used.
True. That plays a huge part in the tone. This new video of mine might give you a better idea about tone in room. Although since then, I have modified the pickups on these with Alnico 2's. Stock had Al;nico 5s. ua-cam.com/video/99KHYvodHsk/v-deo.html
I had an Epi Les Paul with Pro buckers, I found them lacking and the coil split totally pointless. I sold it and got an Epi 59 it’s far superior in every way. The difference is like Night and Day. Ones like a beginners guitar the 59 like a professional tool. The 4 wire connection due to the coil split makes it harder to swap the pickups out for some better PAF pickups. Otherwise the guitar is great for the money. I personally think the pro buckers sound exactly like any other cheap humbucker
Had mine since December last year and only thing I’ve done is change the knobs to gold bells and set it up. Couldn’t be happier with it.

I was interested in the Muse ones too. The colours are beautiful. And these pickups are on par with Gibson 57 classics i believe.
WoW, this has to be the best video out there. I think I am sold!
Nice video! Looking forward to seeing the video with the modded pups

Thanks. I should be uploading it pretty soon. Finally ended up with an Alnico 3 in the bridge position. Modern as in the Modern Standard?

I wonder how good of a player you are especially modding a great sounding guitar out of the box

I bought one back in January. Awesome guitar.
Its a great guitar. I have had some struggle with trying to get mine's action lower to where i like it. How's the action on yours?

I'm happy with my own guitar (Burstbuckers), but I must say that KLD sounds pretty good with the el34's ;)
Thanks Steve. I got another hammond trafo to provide a seperate heater supply in the JCM as well. Haven't done the mod yet.
Mines coming today, after delay after delay with the courier company, paid extra to have it delivered 2 days ago and the wait has been awful
Oh no. Where is it coming from? Deliveries have been hit hard lately for sure.
waiting on mine to come in. thanks for posting. just curious, is there no "classic" truss cover?

High how slim is the neck? Thanks
Its slimmer than most of the 50s style LPs but slightly thicker than modern 60s style LPs. Just about right.
@@AstralToneworx much appreciated
Does it stay in tune?
Yes. Surprisingly even the G string does. Grover tuners.
@@AstralToneworx More like graph tech nut. Tuners have little to do with tuning stability problems.
