We hope you enjoyed Hendrik's inspirational story! Comment below with your feelings after watching this video.
This morning, I scheduled my surgery to donate my kidney to a stranger on April 29. This was exactly what I needed to see. ❤ Thank you so much.
You are amazing! Thank you for bringing light into the world! I hope everything goes well 🙏
Sometimes Human’s compassion and feelings for other humans and organisms leave me in tears !!!
Thank you Hendrik, GOD bless you.
What an emotional guy. I wish everyone involved the best of luck and happiness in life.
We second this. Thanks for your kind comment!
What a rare gift, to know that one decision you made set off a cascade of life. Thank you, Hendrik, for finding me and letting me know that my story inspired you to donate. Sending so much love to you, to your recipient, and to both of your families.
Thanks for the inspiration and the guidance!
You both are amazing, I found this video so touching and warm, the kind of love and warmth humanity is missing nowadays. I'll make sure to donate my skin after I die, as much tissue as I can. Also bones, heart valves and corneas. If my other organs are good to give, I can give them too. I don't accept nor donor blood but I know that in these times the transplantation surgery requires less and less blood. I want the vessel that contained my soul to be useful after my living energy goes back to my creator, and after being helpful, I can donate my body to science or use as many tissues as I can to give. Everybody deserves life.
wonderful

@@HendrikGerrits what a heartwarming story! And I’m so happy you got to meet the recipient. God bless you both!
Unreal. Had me in tears multiple times. My wife went into kidney failure in her late 20's for no known apparent cause. Her brother stepped up and turned out to be a perfect match! Merry Christmas everyone!
As a dialysis nurse, I'm so glad to see nat geo bring more attention to the immense needs of these patients waiting on kidneys. Dialysis takes over the patients entire life - Fluid, food restrictions, pill burdens, financial/emotional issues. I wish both angels in this story have the most blessed lives.
What a kind soul he is!! Many blessings for all involved. Just a wonderful gift to a fellow human being! Very touching and inspiring. Thank you
This guy is next-level human.
a huge thank you to people like him! thanks for helping strangers and giving hope 🧡
We couldn't have said it better, Martha.
“I don’t see strangers as strangers anymore” I love that
That resonated so strongly with my heart also.
Thank you! THANK YOU! as an infant I had a failed auto kidney transplant. I may one day need a transplant and people like you are a gift! A priceless gift! Thank you! Thank you! 😘🇨🇦
Cutting strong onions here! 😭

Waiting for a kidney for my husband. Hoping I can be the one to donate to him. If not, I'm determined to donate to anyone who needs it. How could I say no? Much love to everyone out there on the waiting list!

during the interview, I noticed he was crying (overwhelmed) and I was crying too all over..... such a nice guy. thank you Hendrik.
I'm stuck in isolation on Christmas Day, and this just made me sobbbbbb like a big baby. Gives me faith in humans. ugh
Hendrick is an incredibly selfless and wonderful human. He is truly the best of all of us ❤️
This story just touched my soul and leave me in tears. He is so emotional, kind, selfless.❤️
I'm after a transplant from a dead donor. Getting a kidney from a living donor is said to be better. It's a miracle from a stranger. In our country, however, it is not easy at all, but rather discouraging it. Usually the waiting period is 1-2 years (dead donor).
May i wish him THE BEST
Only due to these kinds of people, the world is still so beautiful. Love you guys, really. Amen
Thank you I have stage 4 CKD we need more like you my friend
Those are truly the angels without wings. As a patient with a chrnoic kidney disease, I deeply appreciate kidney donators. What they are doing is presenting a new life to someone they even don't know
It's so brave for people to do this, it's amazing
It is on my bucket list to talk to somebody after donating an organ to them
He is a Living Angel 😇🙏
I’m currently in the testing process to be a kidney donor and I couldn’t be more excited!

People that fall victims to organ trafficking cartels in latin america also get to give their organs to complete strangers. Although unintentionally and by force.
Huge huge thanks to this guy I am not sure I could ever do it...

wow Hendrik, Tracy, you got a big heart and I don't think that many people (including myself) can do what you did (gave one of your kidneys away). God bless you and your family Hendrik.
Wow the surgery process was insane and so amazingly beautiful I can’t imagine how they felt, my fiancé of 6 years has been on dialysis for 3 years. I pray our day comes when he’s off it.

A stranger shouldn't be a stranger anymore.... This is called a big sacrifice for other human fellow 😘
In this world there are many bad people who want to kill other human fellows but also good ones like this who donated his kidney to a stranger
This is much better than selling your kidney to buy a new Iphone.
Debatable

Go to "Donate Life" and give the greatest gift. I have done this and my body will give other people life and after that, what's left will be cremated.

I've never been so early to a vid before ..
I have a question: is rejection very common among patients who received an organ transplant in early childhood when they grow up, despite using immunosuppressants? In the Oregon family whose three out of five children got heart transplants due to a genetic heart disease (they were heavily publicized a few years ago), the oldest one also found herself rejecting the heart she received at 6 when she became a teenager and had to receive a second transplant. If this is true, doesn't it mean these patients have to receive multiple transplants during their lifetime?
Despite advancements in immunosuppression, unless the donor and recipient are HLA identical, a transplant still can't last forever and will end up being rejected no matter what (after about 10 to 15 years but vary wildly depending on the organ and the context). It's because we can't suppress all the immune system without hurting the patient, and the transplant will still be considered foreign. Multiple small episodes of rejection will inevitably lead to chronic rejection. So children who receive a transplant early are more likely to need another one at some point in their life. Older patients may also benefit from immunosenescence (the aging of the immune system) which make them a little less prone to rejection.
Wow
im crying
the meeting, on her side, was underwhelming.
The world can be a better place after all
❤️❤️
Interesting
take my organs when iam not breathing
I believe that this world is full of good people, if you can't find one. be the one.
Please send us your prayers the transplant will be on August 21, 2020. BTW I will be donating to 17 year old non related recipient. ❤️
