He probably only visited there less than a handful of times during his life and The real Castle Dracula is high atop a mountain range near the River Arges and is called Peonari Fortress. Also his name Dracula meant son of Dracul the A sound meaning Son of. It was his father who was ordained into the order of the Dragon to pitt himself against the evil tyranny of the Turks and the Scandanavian/german Lords who also wanted riches beyond greed. Dracula actually means Son Of The Dragon, NOT Son of the Devil. Wish these tv companies would stick to facts and stop trying to link him to the fictional evil written about in Bram Stokers Victorian Novel. Yes Bram did use Vlads history as a family blood line for his vampire but thats all. So this 4 minutes clip from a company thats supposed to know what they re doing when researching these historical facts really goes to show they were only interested in talking about Vlad in a sensationalised way.
Bran Castle has absolutely nothing to do with Vlad Dracula. The only connection he has to it is through his Grandfather Mircea The Old who had it constructed. The Hungarians seized it as their property before Dracula was even born. Once again NatGeo demonstrates how they’re fully willing to twist facts/truth in order to get ratings. And the “curse of Dracula” has nothing to do with his death. It was a promise he made to his enemies when he lost the throne the second time and was stabbed in the back by his allies. He fulfilled his promise when he struck a deal with Corvinus, and got the throne back. Thence, the “curse” is completely a moot point. Also, it wasn’t Bran Castle he was held prisoner in, in fact, there’s absolutely no evidence he ever set foot in it. Tour guides just tell Tourists and Hollywood producers wanting to sell a narrative what they want to hear. Poorly done, NatGeo. 😞
2:35 - “When you have your enemy at the gate all the time you don't have time to make people love you” You are wrong sir, Read about CHATRAPATI SHIVAJI MAHARAJ . The King died 350 years ago but we still Love him❤️. Other Kings was king of Kingdom but he was the King of People 🙏

I have relatives there, in Transylvania. And actually, it's quite beautiful there and not at all spooky, as long as you don't take away all the colors from the picture and add eerie music in the background.
its beautiful but has nothing whatsoever to do with Vlad Dracula. Castle peonari near the Arges River is the only real Castle Dracula. Vlad had it built atop a high mountain range as a fort against his enemies and so he could have a good view of his surrounding lands.
Lol, Vlads story is an interesting one but its grossly overrated. Vlad decided that it was a good idea to rebel against the Ottomans. Who did not interfere much with Wallachias inner politics. Empires tend to leave theor vassals alone as long as they aid in wars and pay their taxes. Vlad being the genius he is then started impaling people and burning down villiages like a maniac. When Mehmed finally got enough of his bs he sent an army to end him. His body was never found but he is assumed to have died fighting, so he was probably too disfigured to be regocnised. Also Dracula does not mean the son of the devil. it comes from the word Dracul which was the name of the ruling House of Wallachia. its simply a sirname
Dracul means "the devil" in Romanian (coming from the Order of the Dragon). Draculea (which is how Vlad was called) is like a diminutive of Dracul in the meaning that he is his son.

It's so amazing
So fascinating! Stay curious.
Dracula is a Christmas movie. Err, I mean Die Hard.
Pround to live in the same country, however, we really need a leader like him, these days
Good review. 🙂
THE ONE AND ONLY, CONDE DRÁCULA...MERRY CHRISTMAS. "HOHOHO ".CHEERS FROM PARAGUAY...
Oh, I love myself
My great grandpa's Turkish now the rest of Romania is mixed imagine if Dracula defeated the Turks
It is already happen just read the history defeated by Mehmet the 2 (Fatih Sultan Mehmet)
And ıt's not bad thing btw don't afraid
Im surprised Ridley Scott hasnt done a movie about Vlad.
Sincerely doubt it would take 3 days to die by impalment! More historical, or hysterical hype!
Vlad is more a Hero, than Villian. I'm American and I love learning about this guy. He was a product of his time and should be judged as such.
2:35 - “When you have your enemy at the gate all the time you don't have time to make people love you”
You are wrong sir,
Read about CHATRAPATI SHIVAJI MAHARAJ . The King died 350 years ago but we still Love him❤️. Other Kings was king of Kingdom but he was the King of People 🙏
the entire video is garbage. The author was looking for sensationalism and the museum director provided that, even though he knew he was lying.
And btw, Vlad is considered a national hero in Romania and yeah he's still loved and respected.
From a former Ottoman soldier trained by the Sultan's Janissaries to become a fearless warrior to the enduring association of Dracula with vampires. Interesting life 👍
So much BS and historical inaccuracy in this video... should be reported... shame on you, NatGeo.
Vlad Dracula still lives ✴️🐉
Happy new year
His political incorrectness strikes fear in the edudoctrinated
Most of information is wrong in this video. It is far reality of history. First of all vlad's father give vlad and his sister to Ottoman and they educated in enderun school which people is educated as an governor in Istanbul. So he and Fatih Sultan Mehmet were in same class some historian say they were swore brother. He is appointed as an voyvoda in eflak-bogdan( romania) by Ottoman Emprie. His father killend by hungarian but after when he were in eflak his approach change to Ottoman. He killed innocent envoy and he attacked many civil turkish residential. After Fatih Sultan Mehmet surronded his castle. He escape and he was catched after he killed it was time to pay what he did.

I have relatives there, in Transylvania. And actually, it's quite beautiful there and not at all spooky, as long as you don't take away all the colors from the picture and add eerie music in the background.
Nice
Love to Vlad from India 🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳
Have you guys watched Dracula Untold?......its based on this storyyyy...anyway it an amazing movie...😉...recommend that
Bran castle 🏰 is very beautiful and it was occupied by Queen Maria at the beginning of the 20th century.
its beautiful but has nothing whatsoever to do with Vlad Dracula. Castle peonari near the Arges River is the only real Castle Dracula. Vlad had it built atop a high mountain range as a fort against his enemies and so he could have a good view of his surrounding lands.
@@stevecallum7933 I looked it up on google, they have dummies on pikes ! i never knew about this one. I think many romanians don't know too.
Imagine forests of corpses dripping on a buffet you call that a nightmare I call that a tuesday
I think his enemies got the point.

Amazing video national geographic m. Cool edit 😉
Where the name Atlas came from?

Some Romanians see him as a hero like my family
Pretty much all Romanians see him as a hero.
@@Emanuel-E That's because he was a hero...in his own way.
If you Romanians take him as a hero... It means you really lack heroes. Ceauşescu youth. Not surprised
I don’t get it, can you explain why you see him as a hero?
@@banandababa It's very simple, he defended our country from barbaric invaders, including the Ottomans, Hungarians, Saxons, Tartars etc.
Estaba viendo el especial de halloween de bully magnets de hace 6 años sobre Vlad ! Y sopresivamente NatGeo sube justamente esto ayer D: que mieda ! D:
He was ruthless but he united romania and demolished civil wars. He did what needs to be done, Maybe there was another choice but that might not be as efficient as what he did. It was ugly but it was effective.
Vlad the hero of Rumania!
