Zaheer finesseing them when he was able to hold a conversation in the spirit world, while warning his team as to where the avatars physical form is at. Clean.
to be honest, being captured by the earth queen's forces is better than being captured by zaheer, because zaheer basically tried to get korra his entire life he was free, he probably wants to kill her. The earth queen wants her captured.
Zaheer's mentality is really close to a more die hard mixture of Buddhism and anarchy, all order imposed upon people (both as individuals and societies) bar one from freedom/enlightenment both as an individual for one's self determination and enlightenment. To 'release one's self from the Earthy tethers' and fly one could say. Fantastic antagonist to be sure.
Those yellow outfits that Boling and Mako had really reminded me of a Pokemon Trainer encounter in the Pokemon Diamond games lol

Yeah Unalaq joined the Red Lotus in his early 2’s n met zaheer n them and the Red Lotus was made from Xai Bau an Ex-White Lotus left during Aang’s time because he said White Lotus was not meant to be body guards of the Avatar and that’s the origin of Red Lotus
white lotus is actually like a secret agent, like kingsman or jamesbond but when the avatar appears (Aang) white lotur seems to lose direction and their main goal is to hide and instead become like a bodyguard avatar, that's what zaheer regrets

Okay but if Korra was kidnapped and raised by the Red Lotus , her power would be ridiculous.
She'd be weaker and less skilled than she is now, especially in air bending. Korra learned water bending from her father and Katara, the latter of which is regarded as one of the best water benders on the planet. And Tenzin is an actual air-bending master. Zaheer is not and didn't even have bending before, so had he taught Korra she would've been a proficient air bender maybe, but not master level like she is now. Her Earth bending I think would've still been master-level since Ghazan is a master Earth bender. In terms of fire bending I'm going to say Korra would've been a subpar-average fire bender since P'li has barely demonstrated any base fire-bending feats. Either way, Korra is way more powerful being trained by the White Lotus than the Red Lotus.
this is also assuming that everything happens in the series somehow still happens, because her getting kidnapped would change the entire trajectory of her life. Red lotus means no Republic city, no Amon. Unalaq may have tried to still manipulate her but she would have a Stockholm syndrome esq attachment to Zaheer so his betrayal may not even come to fruition, which means no harmonic convergence to release Vaatu, which means no rebirth of airbenders, Zaheer as a result doesn't become an airbenders so she likely never would have learned. She would be severely stunted. Just because they are strong individuals doesn't mean they have the tools to get her there. Will they just drill instructions into her or take time to learn her learning style? So many variables go into this

zaheer is too sadistic and terrible, seeing his actions in the spiritual world makes Korra feel amateur and tenzin is useless (because tenzin can only enter through the portal)
Zaheer is not sadistic, he just has no problem doing what he feels needs to be done. Sadism is about relishing in the pain of others - Zaheer is straight up shown to avoid causing pain where he can.
Zaheer is resolute and sometimes ruthless. But neither of these things make him sadistic.
