Every time I heard my name come out of her mouth I felt like a dog that was getting ready to be beat by the owner. I was living in a spare bedroom, cooking my own meals, washing my own dishes, doing my own laundry. I was living a single man's life in a marriage. But yet I was giving her $800 every two weeks, 1600.00 a month or $2,400 a month depending on how many paydays are in that month. And she used that money to finance projects that she made me do. I had no no benefits whatsoever in the marriage (I take that back, the only benefit I had was the laundry room inside the house, now living in a apartment that cost $895 a month, I have to go to a laundromat to do my laundry, instead of doing the laundry in the same building).

I vowed in my 20's never to get married or have kids. I saw enough misery and destruction in marriages of friends, family and others to make me say NO THANKS! I’m almost 66 now and love being single! Marriage agreements should state the following:
1) agreement is a minimum 10years+
2) all parties undertake counselling for a minimum of 2+yrs (root out change of mind types) prior to divorce proceedings
3) divorce can only be broken prior to contract term due to DV etc
4) the person initiating divorce is only eligible for a maximum of 25% total assets and no alimony or child support payments (80-90% females by metric results) as this will dramatically reduce divorces imo!
