    Buffalo is happy to have him back. Some coaches and their families dont want to come to Buffalo. With Ruff, not only had Hasek but Briere, Drury, others. Sometimes things dont work out for a Cup. Lindy is a great coach and he actually likes the Buffalo area and the fans pretty much like him. It was the GM Darcy Regier who should have been let go not Lindy Ruff. So good luck to NJ going forward and good luck to !

    Appreciate that you put this balanced take out there. I wholeheartedly agree, as usual. This season had a lot of other problems, but it eventually became apparent he wasn’t the guy and a change needed to happen, which I was happy to see. I don’t think the NJD were going anywhere in the playoffs even if he was removed earlier. It bums me out when the fans and friends have to be so aggro about their “told you so” nonsense. We’re moving on - let’s be happy.

      @CollectRecords732 I try to be fair. Lindy got dealt a sh!t hand for sure, and had some questionable maneuvers of his own. The team needed a shakeup, which includes the coach. Lots of people love to play the "told you so" game unfortunately...

      @markhumphrey855 I hope for your sake he cracks the whip a little harder in Buffalo. He fostered a country club atmosphere with this Devils group, and their play suffered as a result of it. (in culmination with a ton of others issues/events)

    As a Sabres fan, I can't lie; I'm nervous. Lindy was a good coach, but with the pressure of winning now, I wonder if he has the patience to put up with the fans needing a play-off visit. Our team is not conditioned to the grind of winning with discipline and full ice-checking. Watching playoff hockey now is different from Sabres hockey.

    • @runninwiththedevils
      @runninwiththedevils  6 місяців тому +1

      @Billsfan2012 You have every reason to be nervous. But hopefully Lindy learned some valuable lessons this year in NJ. Lindy is fully aware that the fans in Buffalo are STARVED for a playoff appearance. Playoff hockey this year should be an eye opener to every team who did not qualify and is watching at home. WINNING TEAMS do the things that aren't glamorous. They hit, block shots, engage in scuffles....this is how you win. The current Devils team is not cut out for playoff hockey either. Hopefully Lindy can help your boys turn it around.

    I agree. I think Ruff is a good coach. I think he developed our young talent well, and that playoff run last year....was AMAZING. That being said, he did not hold any players accountable this season. He showed no heart whatsoever. I firmly believe if the Lindy Ruff that was behind the bench during the 2007 Sabres/Senators brawl (you should watch that video. GREAT old time hockey) was present this season, we would have made the playoffs this year. But that Ruff is gone. He was insanely soft. He had to go. I hope he does well in Buffalo. We need a hard nosed coach. I would like to see Torts, but thats not realistic. Maybe give Kevin Dineen a shot. Would not take much to bring him up...and hes already in the organization.

    Thank you for the respect and gratitude to Lindy. We have some fans that are not happy but I think it is absolutely worth it that we give it a try. I think a lot of Sabres fans would feel regret if we don’t at least see how things go. I think he is a good coach for where we are right now and we can always hire another established veteran coach if it doesn’t work out. I don’t follow the devils enough, but maybe Fitzgerald shouldn’t have spent money on extra players at the trade deadline. The goal should be to spend the money intelligently to build a team that can win the Stanley Cup, not merely make the playoffs. A lot of our fans in Buffalo bash our GM just because they want to make the playoffs instead of seeing the bigger picture. It must really suck after the season you had last year, but keep your eye on the ultimate goal.

    • @runninwiththedevils
      @runninwiththedevils  6 місяців тому

      @bjarczyk I will always be grateful to Lindy for helping our young group take the next step. We had a franchise record breaking regular season, and took out the hated Rangers in the playoffs. Fitzgerald was a disaster for us this season. He should have looked at bringing in some players that can help that had term. Not necessarily "rentals". I do think many of his moves or non-moves are being dictated by our profit driven ownership group. It is unacceptable after the season we had last year.

    Sabres fan. We're very happy to have Lindy as the HC again. We will all know by the end of the upcoming season whether it was a good move. But I have faith in a guy that took us consecutively to the playoffs year after year, and deep into the playoffs all while going through multiple ownership changes. To many of us he belongs in Buffalo.
    So I do agree he probably wouldn't click with New Jersey. On that note, I do disagree with Ruff being a reason for the Devils decline. The organization made A LOT of bad moves and Lindy somehow kept you guys over .500. So that's actually quite amazing he was able to do so with so many players injured and players shopped. Can't lose two top veteran defenseman after a 112 point year with weak goaltending. I do believe Devils fans, media, and organization channeled their frustrations in the wrong direction which may hurt more than you know. We wish you guys luck, and thanks for returning Lindy to us.

    Lindy this year was a broken window in a burning house. He wasn't the problem but he was one of the problems. I'll always remember Ruff for last year's playoff victory against the Rangers, and coaching the stadium series win. I'm a Sabres fan and Ruff is certainly a professional hockey coach, unlike several of our last development coaches. But the move smacks of a knee jerk reaction from the dimwit nostalgic owner Pegula, who has not attended Sabres games on a regular basis for...forever. The loosey-goosey, country club $10 million Sabres lockerroom is certainly going to take a hit. Bottom line, the roster is poorly constructed, many of the same type of #1 draft choice danglers and perimeter players and finesse defense and not enough grit and sandpaper. Plus the Sabres have an amateur GM who is dominated by Pegula, who is a complete loser at hockey.

    I'd have loved Lindy as director of hockey operations. I don't like him as head coach. This is a PR hire. Pegula and Adams failed to conduct a thorough search.

    • @runninwiththedevils
      @runninwiththedevils  6 місяців тому +1

      @BlackIjs Meltdown may be a bit strong, but it was a hissy fit of sorts. The question is regarding Alexander Holtz, who the entire fanbase wanted to see get more icetime. He had a bad turnover that lead to a scoring chance. Montreal DID NOT score on the play. Holtz went on to score the game tying goal. And then stapled to the bench! A reporter took him to task for it, and Lindy didn't like it. He finishes it off with the DEATH GLARE. Classic moment! You can see it below at 9:55:

      @@runninwiththedevils Thanks! "Again, you don't watch the game very well..." Sounds like those 2 had earlier confrontations lol. Boxing out. Those are foreign words in Buffalo. Giveways? oh boy! Should be a fun season for the Sabres.

      @BlackIjs One of the Devils beat reporters was the only one to reallllllly put a little heat on Lindy. Lindy had enough of his questioning in that clip, lmao. It was hilarious when it happened. The NJ "media" covering the Devils is a complete joke.

    Lindy Ruff is the worst. Pardon me, 2nd worst. Scroll that website you showed of all time wins and show us the losses. Ruff is #2 for losses....sub .500 coach. Good riddance, now we don't have to worry about Buffalo anymore.

    • @runninwiththedevils
      @runninwiththedevils  6 місяців тому +4

      @michaels7134 In fairness, coaches often get stuck with bad teams for stretches of time. Look at the rest of the list. Paul Maurice is .470, Lindy is .487. Would you say Maurice is a bad coach?!? There are more variables to it then just looking at their records. Most of the guys on that list are in the same stratosphere as Lindy in terms of winning %.

      @danevertt3210 He was correct. 864 wins, 679 regulations losses, 153 OVERTIME losses, and 78 ties....the 679 losses does not include overtime losses

      @@runninwiththedevils Timo played through mcl issues and his shoulder that needed surgery. The man is going to be a Devils legend when it’s all said and done. I always found it ridiculous to call “bust” 5 months into someone’s contract, especially someone that has a history of putting up big numbers.

      @TravelinDevil76 I just had to take some shots at the "he's not injured, that's an excuse" crowd. I hope this season has shown fans that players do INDEED played injured often! It can range from a minor injury, to something that requires surgery to repair! Both Jack and Timo played through these types of injuries. I expect big years from both of them next season
