Brian Rust's Dance Band Discography puts this "c.July 1920" which might put the recording actually just before Whiteman's. Rust lists the issued version by Whiteman for a recording date of Aug. 23, 1920. Two versions done earlier in Aug. 1920 were rejected by the Victor company.
This is a very interesting record. Not only over a century year old, it is made of a red shellac, set to the rather off-putting cost of $1.00, and covers a tune that sounds very similar to Paul Whiteman's band.
This style of music is so gentle and beautiful. It takes me to another world. Thanks.

Excellent job restoring such an old audio.
I very much like this version, especially the brass... and the cool percussion!
