Some years ago now, 18 winegrowers from the Valle Isarco Valley began making wine their own way. The idea has evolved into a success story: every man for himself, and all wineries have jointly produced excellent white wines, which have provenance and character.
Manni Nössing, a winemaker from Bressanone/Brixen, enlivens the South Tyrolean wine scene with snappy sayings. At the same time he makes peerless wines. His five white wines, Sylvaner, Kerner, Veltliner, Gewürztraminer and Müller-Thurgau, have already won many awards. His Kerner is particularly successful. In Italy, Nössing has been known for years as Mr. Kerner. Winemakers, wine experts and visionaries meet regularly in Nössing’s tasting room at Hoandlhof in order to exchange points of view: “That’s how Alto Adige’s wine culture has come into being.”
Manni Nössing is someone who makes wines according to his beliefs, and does not deviate from his chosen path: “We need a breath of fresh air in South Tyrol.” So he traveled the world in order to learn about other wine regions, and came to the conclusion that his wines are truly outstanding.
