Being a farmer is hard work...god bless them.
Indeed it is
I go to this market once a per month and I get more bang for my buck in the San Juan market. I find that this farmers market prices to be too expensive especially when you take into consideration that they are planting what they sell. My mom loves going there to buy the lettuce. She loves the variety and freshness. I can get 1/2 a slice of melon, a paw paw, a pine apple and a hand of silk fig for $50.00 in San Juan market.
@@yasminroberts2120 ohh nice, I guess it may be more expensive for certain things as it’s more regulated
With that $100.00 you got some nice fruits...Thanks for the tour of the farmers market.
That I did and you’re most welcome
Great video brother, I really enjoy seeing my Trini people just out mixing and doing their thing. No negativity, no stress, just out enjoy a beautiful day in T&T❤
Thanks 😁
So many people with their Massy bags, i remember when Massy introduced their bags people made soo much noise about it.
@@seygra20 yup, we always complain about something new before we adapt
I saw the green bags. I thought it looks like a popular recycle bag.
@@seygra20 People didn't complain about the bags per day, but the approach. Massy just started selling their plastic bags and only after public outcry they turned it into an "environmental initiative" and released the market bags you see now.....
Informative as always and stress relieving. Thanks.
You’re most welcome
Pink grapefruit is $1.79 USD each. Five grapefruit cost $8.95 USD. 64% of your budget! I saw pineapple for $3.99 USD each. There goes your budget, Rajeev. The Indian shop sells wintermelon. I made soup with it, but I will try to make juice. I make karela juice with the dark green karela. The Indian shopkeeper said the light green karela does not last as long on the shelf.
If it doesn’t last long on your shelf, you know it’s as “organic” as you can get…and yeah those prices are high…the only exceptions when i visit is getting the berries, like strawberries and blueberries, they are much cheaper on your side than here
@@TrinbagoVibes well I made a chow it was nice and thing inno
@@margaret-gr7zwcan’t go wrong with chow at all
I go to the QPS farmer market frequently because I live in POS but I really find that there is not a large variety of fruits, mainly because so many fruits are seasonal, early on in the year you will get a lot more mangoes and citrus, and there is a guy at the entrance of the market that sells peppers and sometimes he has some lovely Cayenne guavas.
Thanks for this info, this was my second visit to the QPS farmer’s market
For $30tt at other Markets that's an entire whole Water Mellon. That price was kinda steep for a Farmer's Market though.
Depending on the size of the watermelon, but yeah hadda check the cost per pound
The prices at these farmers Market are the same as the other markets in Trinidad, some of the stuff are even more expensive there.Their prices are the same as the vendors at the bigger markets who purchase goods from the middle men to resell.
Feels like in part 2, we explore this
Rajeev, the wax apple you ate, based on your description as having the rose water taste sounds like what they call locally primrose.
I wouldn’t doubt that it’s called that as well
That second doubles looked delicious boi....I actually drooling😋😋
That it was
That second doubles looked very tasty. I have a cousin who sells there. She sells kale.
That it was, that doubles rel hit d spot…as for your cousin, I probably passed her booth during the walkthrough
Good morning and thank you for sharing I love to go to the markeing have a wonderful weekend lovely ❤❤❤
Mawnin, morning, you’re most welcome
Canistel is the correct pronunciation. It has a custard like texture. Not the best fruit in my opinion but can be good to use in smoothies.
Yeah I didn’t fancy the taste so much
You can also get green fig .breadfruit and other flours down there too..
That you can, but this rounds I was on a fruits mission…and well thing to eat one time, lol
Awesome video the market was very clean and organized thanks for sharing hey how was that single fruit you got for $10.00
Thanks Brian, as for the single fruit, will be dropping a short tomorrow with that experience, so look out for it….although spoilers, I don’t fancy it, lol
Wax apple is very refreshing when its chilled..
Ohh, well I had them in the fridge so guess I’m good to go 😁
I once said i have not ever found a fruit i didn't like until I had a castinell or egg fruit,,, then i used it in a punch ,it was lashingly delicious.
So I’ve been told, I tried it by itself…wasn’t the most righteous, but next time I’ll try it in a punch
The watermelon too expensive🔥
Ihu…it’s much cheaper than the grocery for sure, but I’ve to really find out the cost per pound
@TrinbagoVibes I thought that the farmers market is supposed to be cheaper than the market and certainly cheaper than the grocery.🎈🎈
@ it’s definitely cheaper than the grocery, can’t really speak for the market
Would you do a comparison between there and say, central market. Including ambience, convenience, pricing, parking...the whole hog
One of these days bro, it may not be central market per se, but it’ll definitely be one of them
caralie water got me there🤣🤣🤣😂
lol, it’s true
A pleasant good morning to 😅 everyone and please be safe out dear and blessings to everyone have a beautiful day to everyone and enjoy the rest of your day and keep safe on the road 😅 that market is looking nice and wonderful
Thanks Javan and blessings to you as well
I love the content of this channel. A little correction though: it's "how MANY fruits"
Thanks bro and I stand corrected
You will get a lot more for your money at the central market..because there are a lot more farmers and varieties..
That’s the next step, well another video idea actually
Nice vid Raj. Always ssy I will check the one in SAPA. Will def cgeck them out.
Yeah you should
Love your videos 🥰🥰🇨🇦🇨🇦
Thank you 🙏🏽
Good night very interesting video. ❤💯👍
Thanks
I find i must go there with plenty money because i does want to buy everything..
lol, yes! Things does add up…even when I’m walking through I was doing calculations in my head but the main quest came first, lol
Hmmnn .. gone are the market baskets in this era ..only Massy bags
Yup, multipurpose
Java 🍎 apple it also comes in red
Nice
The wax apple fruit looks like the fruit they call cashew in Guyana.
Oho, and thats an interesting name as well know cashew to be something else, lol
Guyanese call pammorack cashew. Wax apple is more popular up the islands than in Trinidad. Here in Chaguanas, I was surprised to see a waxapple tree around a recreation ground laden and it bothers no one. It has a very mind taste, so people must be think it is not for eating.
@ mild is right, but once you make ah chow out of it, it’s pretty good
@@TrinbagoVibes the ones in St Vincent are sweet
You've got to be joking?!! Wasn't worth the money at all.$ 30.00 for a slice of watermelon? Pink grapefruit are a bit smaller than usual.Need to come down south from Debe going through Penal market and even in Siparia you'd receive a bit more for your money.
One of these days, as I do plan to visit the Debe market
This market is more regulated/organic than a regular. They don't use heavy pesticides etc
Salute great video
Thanks
🌿 happy weekend to you and Mrs. I feel you did a wonderful shopping at the farmers market. Good night
You do excellent reportage. You need someone to accentuate your monologue with thought provoking ideas though.
Thanks.
Any idea of where to get local hot chocolate, in Canada?
There are some vids that would have those thought provoking ideas, while others just plain and simple, but ihu and as for Canada, I’m not sure for the trinitario based hot chocolate…you may have to search or make a trip down here and take back with you
The prices in the farmers market is just the same as the regular market, which makes no sense to me.
I can’t speak for the regular market but it’s direct from farmers without the 3rd party…so in some cases the prices may be the same and other times it may be less
I went with my dad and my uncle in the market
Ice
Nice 🙌🏽🙌🏽
Yea I was sleeping in the red ranger
Watermelon isn't worth $30
Ihu…but it was delicious
Thanks for sharing bro 🙏😊
You’re most welcome
You clearly didn't like that juice.
@@pointboy12 yup, wasn’t a fan of it
Lol @ carailli water.
Indeed bro
Love the honesty!
Doubles boy...
Done know
Melon to expensive
Yeah, may have to check where else it’s cheaper
@TrinbagoVibes .Charlotte St..Central market will get you a lot more for the $100..Just that the farmers market at QPC a lot more organized..cleaner and safer..
@ yup, and that cleaner and safer part is probably why it’s a go to for a good bit of peeps
Farmers market in macoya have to many middle men so you paying regular prices
Ohhh, there are always those who find a way around the system and that’s most unfortunate as it’s suppose to be a lil less than regular prices
