I resisted commenting on this but here goes.
Ditch the green table coverings, green is veggie!
Switch to white or white & red coverings as those are traditional butchers/meat traders' colours.
It's all about subliminal messages, people are just educated to associate certain things with certain colours and it's a mistake to underestimate the importance of subliminal influence.
Buyers have been influenced by supermarkets for decades so it's important that you present something that doesn't rub against that - go with the flow.
I know its a big budget investment but ditch the blue coolers for white coolers for the same reason, also white registers subconsciously as clean and hygienic.
Another investment would be to have the table covers trailing to ground level and have various meats / cuts printed large on the "drop side" of the covering so that from across the street it is obvious what you are selling.
As another said, Have photos on the outside of each cooler. Many buyers are reluctant to ask, so photos help remove that barrier.
Your commitment is inspiring with the early hours start and preparation. I offer the above in an attempt to maximise your hard work.
I'm in my 60's and started on market stalls when I was 12, supporting my grandparents market stall.

You gave GREAT ADVICE 👍🏾! I hope they make the changes you suggested because they were spot on!

I've never sold at a farmers market, or even shopped at one, so my advice probably isn't worth much. But what about having large (~8.5x11") photos of the product on the front of the coolers? Photos of perfectly grilled brats or chops would certainly get my attention. Just my 2 cents...

I agree. Let the pictures do the selling. You could take a photo and place that along with info on a 8.5 x11 sheet and print it for a frame you could put next to each cooler. Maybe a 5x7 because you have a lot of coolers.

Have you ever thought about those cases that you see at sport card shows, maybe you could put some dry ice inside of one of those display cases.

I haven't thought of those, but there was a vendor at our market that used to fill a small pool with ice and then put in vacuum packaged cuts. That vendor was in a less sunny spot than I am, but it is something to consider. My concern with the clear tops (whether a freezer or your suggestion) would be fogging up because of condensation, but maybe it wouldn't. I'll give a test try with something :)

@@TheBeginningFarmer Oh nice, yeah the pool idea is interesting. It probably would fog up, when covid hit, my masks would always fog up my glasses, so I bought a spray that basically prevented the fog, it worked decent. Your meats look so good, it is a shame to not able to show everyone that walks by!

I’ve been in sales my whole life. What do you think about a sign that says, “do you like meat? If so, you’ll love ours!”

Great video. No one ever has their market setup perfect. If they think they do, they are fools. It is a very dynamic thing that requires constant attention to people and market process. Take absolute care of your customers and helpers and they will give back to you. We also found going to two tents tripled our sales as it gathers more attention.

That looks great. Meat sellers tables always look sparse and service slow because they have to dig/fetch cuts out of large coolers instead of letting the customer do it themselves.

It is definitely a challenge. I had even thought about the time savings though, but now that you mention it that is probably one of the biggest benefits!

I’m guessing the logistics of this make it not the best, but I’ll throw it out there anyway. Have you thought about grilling up some of the meat and offering samples? I think the smell would draw people in like crazy.

From various podcasts, its always suggested to offer free samples. I'm guessing too though, that open grilling is probably prohibited due to safety concerns or some ordinance. Perhaps an electric skillet and / or a warmer might be possible though. Hot samples would definitely be a plus.

Wish I could use your cooler idea. My state won't let me do that. Samples are a great idea if you can do in your state. I got my sampling license and generally sell out what I am sampling.

I sometimes wonder if bigger is better with these farmers markets. There must be considerable competition.

Awesome video! Why don't you make laminated photos of your packed meats and place them at each cooler. I always think some customers are a little gun shy if they can't see or visualize the packaged products. More or less you are simulating what they might see at any butcher store. Maybe look at it like the Market Gardeners, which if they 'couldn't' display their produce their sales would naturally fall off. Cheers!

Next time why not leave 1 pack as a display infront of each box for it to be more visual. As soon as it starts to defrost replace with another. Ur meat is well packaged will visually pull in more. I think people buy with their eyes first.
    * Just my opinion mean no offense

Wondering if you’re allowed to “cook your lunch” on a small Hibachi grill next to your stand ? 😂

i have an idear for you, get some colorful plastic animals of the animals you sell and put on top of the coolers, so a chicken for chicken, cow for cow and so on, maybe some 3d prints of the cuts themself, i think that would attract some views to the stand.
love the video, good to have the boys to help
