Welp this was a mistake. Probably not a great idea to spend $700 on knockoff fairings, but I figured I'd to a quick stealth buy to see if their quality was as good as they claimed or not.

For those who missed it, these fairings came from Nice Cycle. I didn't spend a lot of time on it in the video because I don't like putting a company on blast any more than I have to.

I've had decent luck with auctmarts and another I can't remember....but I think depending on the factory complexity of the fairings is a factor...some bikes like the k4 gsxr 1000 have 4 piece fairings while the k6 gsxr 1000 has like 12 prices a side and 6 for the front...I found that they tend to not be as good in the aftermarket.

Word of advice, always put painter's tape over the spot you're going to drill it will minimize the potential of chipping paint and or cracking the piece.🤘😎🏍

True, but since I was cutting the painted side I minimized the chance of blow out damage. If I was going inside out I would've put some down

After watching my buddy have 2 sets of fairings just fly off of his cbr 600, when I found some that worked online I ordered them twice. These are always hit or miss and the misses can be mind blowingly bad. I remember 90% of the provided bolts wouldn't even start into holes. Correct size but bad machining.

That's why so many people are interested in hearing about Good aftermarket body work.
    Because 90% is garbage.
Even quality fiberglass needs tons of rework and the mounts are usually crap.
I bought a high mileage Superhawk a couple of years ago. Has Repsol body work. The fitment is ok. Looks ok. The tank cover is horrible and the mounts are broken.
I considered just painting the tank to match. I might still do that. It's a super low budget ride but it is fun.
If anyone ever finds a good kit that fits nice. Everyone and their weird uncle wants to know more about it. Especially if it's reasonably priced.
    Good luck.

Nice vid! I put ABS fairings on my bike. ABS worked with me through email to design a custom paint/graphics setup. They fit fairly well, but i did need to massage a few pieces with a Dremel. I'd buy them again because i couldn't have gotten a custom paint job for how inexpensive they were. Also the clear coat was very strong.
Edit: forgot to mention but my tank cover was trash too.

Love my Nelson Rigg Commuter bag. I use the Sport nearly every day for my commute. My zipper pulls died after about six months but otherwise it's doing great. I sprayed mine with KIWI silicone waterproofing spray and it's been nearly waterproof. Good enough that I have never used the rain cover even when it was pouring out. I'm not gonna say it stays 100% dry, but dry enough it's never been an issue. I actually use it as a bit of a fender because my tail tidy doesn't stick out far enough on the CB300R, so it definitely seems some abuse and is doing great. Would buy again. It's done two winter's plus the rest of the year in between. It goes in with me so it doesn't spend TOO much time out in the sun, but this is still south Texas and there's no UV issues so far.

Got a set of auctmarts a few years ago for the gsxr I had. The body panels fit up good, I didnt have the paint issues you had but the tank cover was utterly worthless, luckily I had the original paint scheme so the fairings worked well with that. The hardware kit was just as worthless as the tank cover, so OEM hardware was polished and used.

One thing I’d probably note is that if you get fairings that are in stock, you may get them faster but it also increases the chances that it’s been scratched already just by nature of being older. If I had glossy fairings, I’d probably be interested in ceramic coating it for better protection, but the ones I’ve gotten from Auctmart were mostly matte, so I didn’t bother and can’t confirm. Mine had to be made and painted, and when I received them there was little to no ferment issues.

Just an FYI... almost all aftermarket fairings are molded at ZXMT. You are paying for fit and final finish in some cases, depending on the dealer or distributor you are buying them from. You have to do a ton of research before picking a seller. Mine were painted in house in las Vegas. I got lucky with factory replicas for my 2002 black wing over winning red. They look and fit very nicely. I used factory fasteners to hold everything together. HIGHLY RECOMMEND FACTORY FASTENERS

That really sucks. I ordered fairings for an 06 GSXR 750 from Monster Fairings and had a lot of the same issues. Mainly the super thin paint and mediocre fitment. I loved that they custom painted them exactly how I requested, but the quality is for sure nowhere near OEM, not that I was expecting that for the price.

Love the MKH on the wall, I have the white 6 and black 7. Also, would be curious to compare the different aftermarket fairing companies such as Monster and Auctmart. I need new fairings for my bike, especially after finding out after buying the bike that the seller hid the fact it had been dropped and very poorly repaired in a variety of ways. I'd love to buy OEM, but I'm basically up for a full set which is just ridiculously costed, so aftermarket is what I'm thinking.

Just a suggestion but if you want to temporarily "black out" the visible blue, you just use some black spray can plastidip. You can peel it off afterwards of when you're done with it. Unfortunately chinese replica fairings can be super hit or miss. I had some on a 2013 ZX6R to mimic the 2015 Anniversary fairings. They actually didn't look bad but there was a fit fitment issues and the green didn't match the tank 100%

I as well love the Repsol livery. It's just cool. Sucks the fairing weren't the quality as expected and had bad fitment. Would be nice if they were.
I hope it'll work out still in any way.
Either they redo them and sent them free of charge with proper fitment, or if any other fairing company or even a starter or hobbyist who has proper quality reach out and help out.
Wrapping is always a possibility of course, but I can imagine you don't want to wrap the OEM blue plastics. Maybe you can source a used set in good shape and wrap those if you even want to get it wrapped. At least the fitment will be as OEM spec.

I've had my bike since new and it has been down but not completely destroyed or bent though.

You should peel off the blue protective plastic from the aftermarket seat lock you have! But just note that if you do... some of it won't come off. Like it'll come off the outer perimeter 'shroud' and the center area where the key goes in, but the shroud covers the outer part of the key area, and the blue protective plastic was applied before they put it together. Like come on...
Also, can you check inside the fairings for any markings? I wonder what brand those are. 'ZXMT' fairings are very common, both the old and new fairings for my 954 have them and the old ones fit alright. I'm pretty sure ZXMT supplies many of these companies, you can probably count the number of Chinese fairing factories for the actual injection molding on one hand.

Bought a set of monster fairings for my ZX6R a couple years back, partly because youtubers promoted them. First of, they posed as being a US based company but it became pretty obvious very quickly that they're in China. The fairings were really quite bad, the plastic was very bad quality, very thin and brittle, I had multiple tabs break off trying to install them. The paintwork was even worse, the colorcoat was very uneven and some places you could still see the white plastic. The clearcoat was the first of it all, I could have done better with a rattle can in my garage. I don't know what I expected for 500 bucks but it denitely wasn't this.

When it came out in 03 it was designed and marketed to look just like it with i believe the first undertail exhaust for a production bike. The RR has a plastic tank. I know its hard to find fairings for these older bikes. I had an F4 with carbs and then in 07 i got a brand new 600RR. Favorite bike i ever owned besides my current S1000RR. But i truly love Honda and those bikes were what i learned on and dumped quite a few times and they are BULLETPROOF and i.m.o look just as good if not better then any modern design from japan.

@@silaideynot even close, if you are going aftermarket they are by and far the best. I bought a pearl white set for my 2018 gsxr1000 and the fitment was pretty much spot on. To compare my buddy bought a eBay fairing set for his cbr600 and we spent hours drilling and fitting those crappy fairings.

I have essentially the same kit on my ‘06 1000RR.
If you’re paying attention you can see some flaws in fit here and there.
    Nobody pays attention including me.
So I get people constantly complementing it and I get to enjoy the knowledge that it’s actually a hot mess
    😂
Now, I had a small tumble and picked up a replacement set in a Blue/Orange combo instead of the Black /Orange.
I don’t know how it’s going to fit yet as I get started on it tomorrow.
    $755?!?!?
I spent $400 and it’s the same stuff because it was packed identically to yours.
    You got ripped off!

I can vouch for Monster Fairings, which I bought for my F4i. I do have an earlier split seat model, but fit wise, it was 99.9% spot on. The only thing of note is that the tail fairing was awful tight. It took some finagling, but it did indeed fit. Other than that, have some spare heat shielding on hand. I had enough, but it was just enough.

This is why I balk at buying almost any product or service these days. To me $700 is too much money to charge on what basically looks like throw away parts. They're probably priced so that even if they get 75% returns, they'd still turn a small profit.
