If you are going to use this feature, you'll probably want to go into 'Network Control' & select 'Always On'. This way it will work even if your AVR is in 'standby power mode'. Great video Gene! I love this feature, not everyone knows about it.
IThis is great, Thank you Gene! Because of your review, I purchased the 8015 a couple weeks ago but the setting for Center Spread is not available as it is greyed out and no mention of it in the manual. Thanks for all you do for the audio enthusiast!
Thanks Gene. I didn't realize they had that feature. It's good to know when I upgrade my AVR, I will be able to use that. I know you love Atmos and really don't like Auro, but I would ask you to recommend the single speaker layout that supports all 3. This way the user gets to try all 3 formats and pick the one they like. Even if their AVR currently doesn't support it, if the upgrade in the future then they have the option to try the others. With the 1 speaker layout to rule them all, they don't have to worry about moving speakers. At most maybe they will add more speakers. The 30 degree is the the Atmos spec as well so it works for all the formats.
I didn't realize this with Marantz either. I have an AV8805A and previously used on screen displays to set things up. I personally love web control via IP as my Storm uses this. I will definitely use IP control for my Marantz from now on. Thank, Gene!

Hi Gene, my Marantz sr8015 was able to pass audio and video from a bluray player but suddenly now only video plays without audio. Any ideas on how to fix problem?
Caution!! The 2 channel section of the web interface is flawed! If your settings look correct but you don’t get any output from the subwoofer, change the crossover value and see if the sub starts to work else just use the TV GUI. You can always change it back once the sub starts to work. No issues with the TV GUI and 2 channel settings. I don’t think I tested after the latest update, so maybe it’s fixed. I did attempt to open a case with Marantz, but didn’t get a ticket number or anything so not sure if the actually opened the issue for further review.
@@Audioholics Nope mains set to small. If I recall if I switch to large then back to small. The sub doesn’t always activate when using web interface unless I change the crossover value to something else which I shouldn’t have to do. I’ll try again today since I installed another update in the last month or so. It as if it’s changing the value but not applying the change to activate the sub.
@@Audioholics yep still flawed, set to manual and switch back and forth from small and large, it doesn’t enable or disable the sub unless you also change the crossover value… works fine in the TV GUI. I’m using a SR8015, not sure if the issue occurs on other models as well, I would assume so.
@@truwarrior22 I am not having this problem on my SR8015 with all my speakers set to small. You shouldn't need a separate 2CH configuration. Just keep everything the same and see if that resolves your bass issue.
@@Audioholics Right, but if you change your speakers to large thru the web app, does the subwoofer deactivate? I’ll make a video tomorrow. It took me a while to figure out why my subwoofer was failing to activate, however, most of the time I just assumed it was working as expected/configured.

Hi, nice explanation! I was indeed using this(!) interface, but I was searching to provide api commands to the receiver as well. Specifically I wanted to be able to send a command which selects a radio station in HEOS/TuneIn and play it. I have a Marantz SR5013 and wondering if that's possible.
Thanks so much Gene, didnt know that my 8015 has it, I know it! Can you also show us how properly use Audyssey app as well? And what system do you use for your main home theatre room?:)
I am curious to know, if you are using an external amp and only using 4 channels on the avr, is it best to set it at 5 channels or just leaving it at 11.x or 9.x. So if nothing is connected to the other speaker outputs, is that reducing the total power to that 70% power guarenteed? Trying to see how to get the most power out of the amp to the side and dolby atmos speakers, I am using the side surrounds and dolby atmos speakers on the avr amp only and do not want the AVR to feed channels which are not in use. LRC are on the external amp, and my unit only has 9 channels of amplification and 11 channel processing
It doesn't matter. If the amps are unloaded, they aren't using power from the supply. I would use external amps for the front LCRs and internal for the rest.
Thanks! This is much easier to navigate. The funny thing is I've been working on networks for 30 years and never even botheedr to hit the ip address on my AVR-A110. I've always used the app or remote. I have to agree with you on the HEOS. For most things, it works fine, but I have issues with turning off zones. It seems to take forever at times, to the point of grabbing the remote to do it. I have an issue that I've heard other people have as well, and that is getting the receiver to turn on with my TV, which is a Samsung Q90t. The only way I can get it to work is if I turn on the Smart Menu. Of course, then I have to grab the remote to turn off the Smart (dumb) menu. That really pisses my wife off, so it's makes life simpler just to turn my AVR on after the TV. Anyone know a way around this? Thanks for the info.
You simply open a web browser (Chrome, Edge, Firefox) and input the Receiver IP address, if the 7012 has this feature you will see this, otherwise noting is returned. Your PC MUST be on the same network as receiver.
@@idr00sterThe IP address that appears on the network page is nothing like the one in the video and doesn't connect the AVR to the computer. The computer and the AVR are wired to the same hub so they are on the same network.
First you must be using Dolby Surround as the sound mode. If I remember correctly this is the sequence on the remote. Setup>Audio>Surround Parameter>center spread on/off
Make sure to add infront of the AVRs IP address, and also note that it's not running on the default http port (80) so you also need to append a colon and the the port number which is 10443 by default if I remember correctly.
Your receiver and computer or phone have to be on the same network otherwise it wont work. If your receivers is connected via wifi and your pc is connected through ethernet they will not see each other. In my case I just wrote in the ip numbers alone and I got in. But like I said you have to be in the same network either both wifi or both via ethernet.
@@krishnataveras8734 The AVR can very well be connected via WIFI while the computer is on a wired connection as long as the WIFI and the wired connections are on the same LAN, which is usually the case unless the network has been configured otherwise (VLANs, different subnets, WIFI client isolation etc. etc.)
@@krishnataveras8734 This isn't correct. In most cases where users have just the one wifi router then the wifi is still on the same subnet as ethernet so one device being on ethernet and one on wifi is normally not an issue hence a mix of devices on either type of connection will normally talk to each other. The phone app works over the network in the same way just on a different IP port. The wifi part of a router is simply an access point. There are some 2016/17 models on which the WEB interface was removed which could be the issue.
I have a denon x1400h and I can connect with the App or MultiEQ app but when I go to the IP it says "Error 403: Forbidden Access Forbidden" anyone else?

I'm curious of what you think about the new JBL Arena EXP Car Audio Speakers? I bet they're pretty legit, I love JBL. 🏆🥇👑 The Everest's are gorgeous as well.
let's be honest, their app is crap! there's a reason it has 2016 in the name! ;) UI is slow and really bad.. Btw, I couldn't find Center Spread on my Denon X3700... Unless It's context sensitive?

I have an issue that I've heard other people have as well, and that is getting the receiver to turn on with my TV, which is a Samsung Q90t. The only way I can get it to work is if I turn on the Smart Menu. Of course, then I have to grab the remote to turn off the Smart (dumb) menu. That really pisses my wife off, so it's makes life simpler just to turn my AVR on after the TV. Anyone know a way around this? Thanks for the info.
Is anyone else not getting test tones when trying to set the speaker levels? I can move the slider but I'm not hearing any sound.
where do you get the web app? My7013 doesn't respond like your amp.
Yep just override the insure webpage warning and your there easy peassy.
It dosent work on the sr7012, i heard it is becuse of HEOS.
I have the X4700H and cannot find the center spread option.
First you must be using Dolby Surround as the sound mode.
If I remember correctly this is the sequence on the remote.
Setup>Audio>Surround Parameter>center spread on/off
@@kingeo25 Thanks, I'll try that!
I put in my i.p address and got search results. Lol . what am I missing? Should I be using a specific browser?
Yes, same with AVR-4400H. I don't think the newer Denon AVRs have this anymore. There are a few things left at I.P Addres/settings/index.html
It's really not secret. Any joe blow can type in the recievers IP Address and be directed to the web interface. Hell, even Denon covers it on their knowlber base and forums.
I'm curious of what you think about the new JBL Arena EXP Car Audio Speakers? I bet they're pretty legit, I love JBL. 🏆🥇👑 The Everest's are gorgeous as well.
and I'm not buying a new AV receiver until the App issue is fixed!
Okee dokee
Also, I do not have the center spread on my AV8805
So basically the same thing my remote does….
let's be honest, their app is crap! there's a reason it has 2016 in the name! ;) UI is slow and really bad.. Btw, I couldn't find Center Spread on my Denon X3700... Unless It's context sensitive?
Center spread only becomes available if you're upmixing if I'm not mistaken. I also have the X3700H and I use the Dolby Surround Upmixer and Center Spread under "surround parameters" all the time!
Thanks for this, Gene!
If you want to control just about anything (including volume!!!!) from your computer (or a raspberry pi, just about anything) see this post: www.avsforum.com/threads/change-volume-with-marantz-web-interface.3191445/post-60657009
