I think Porsche always had it in the back if their mind that a ground-up mid engined new design like the Cayman might actually be better than their flagship 911's, even though Porsche had engineered a flawed rear engined car to an amazingly good degree, but this GT4RS might just be the car to take that title. Porsche dropped the six cylinder Cayman and Boxters and replaced them with turbo charged flat fours just to restore some clear water between the top of the range 911's and the Cayman/Boxters but had to re-introduce the six cylinder cars due to the lack of demand for the four cylinder machines.
I have never understood the concept of understeer in a porsche. Just do a deliberate lift-off and it goes away. After that be fast at correcting. A mid engine is less forgiving at the edge though.

Makes a mockery of so-called hypercars. Wow.
Knew Stevie was going to love this one ☝️
0:46 2R tires? Made me run out to my garage and double check my 992 GT3. It has 2s, not 2Rs. I guess that's an RS for you...even more track focused even if it is a 4, not a 3. I can't wait for my GT4 RS to arrive later this year.
Well, it arrived and they are not 2Rs. My GT4 RS has the same as my GT3...2s
Great review Steve. Really a great car. If just it could be had with a manual transmission option
Now if only we could all get one... 😭
Amazing video Steve, perfect!
I have never understood the concept of understeer in a porsche. Just do a deliberate lift-off and it goes away. After that be fast at correcting. A mid engine is less forgiving at the edge though.
Well, damn. He really went there
