Hard to find a vocalist that can growl the blues like Toy did when he let loose on this tune & you don't find many players that could come close to his finger (Thumb) style attack but Warren never disappoints no matter how many different times he's played the cover of one of the most well identified songs in 70s Rock . We miss Toy & that whole original band.
Totally agree!! He can play anything from Marshall Tucker to Pink Floyd not only put his own perfect guitar spin on it but sing the fuck out of it. Warren is special.
I'll have to replay this for a while . It's going to take a little time to get it out of my system. I Have the volume wide open .Loved his version. Awesome ❤
I agree with your comment 100% and am the same way. I hate when people compare one artist or band to another (usually the one who did the original song) and then expect someone else to do it the EXACT same way! Music is meant to be interpreted by EACH person as they feel it❗️
Mr. Haynes can cover any Songs he Wants he even cover's Tom Waits on his New album. He's gonna respect the Music and do it justice no matter who's song 🤙
Warren Haynes is one of the greats. A fantastic musician, he’s almost always the one to hold things together, in a band situation. I, for one, hold him in the highest esteem. And he kicks ass on that LP.
What a masterful rendition.. It is wonderful to see musicians so in control of their instruments and songs. Not over-done, not under-done, just playing it like it's their own. Great post. Thanks. This hit the spot tonight.
Thanks Warren for all that lovely lovely rithem and noise can’t wait to you play New Jersey area again. Missed ya at the capital theater with phill and the gang got civic again stayed home.
I absolutely love 💕 this version of “can’t ya see”. Warren is amazing. I think toy and Tommy Caldwell are looking down on him with great pride. This song warms my heart. Timeless and never gets old ❤❤❤
Have seen Warren & Govt Mule... OUTSTANDING Group!!! He's been a member of Allman Bros Band.. Can hold his own with the best guitar players out there...The man has the CHOPS!!! Go see if you get the chance!!!
Discovered it in 1981. If it was being played on a juke box, I would have worn out the song by now. I like every version I've ever heard, This is special with Warren's beautiful Gibson sound!
My Daddy was a picker... well a part of him will always be with me the music lives on. That's Daddy in my little circle thingy. He and his band covered "Can't you see" as well. He always put his touches on covers as well. I have to agree with Mr Jimmy Page hahaha a sentence I never thought I'd and or type in my lifetime. You rock it brother. So well done just a pleasure for all the senses. Rock on! peace, Sharon Ann 💜
This was the first concert we went to during the whole COVID situation after being locked down for a year. While the floor was pretty full, it was limited seating so we has around 8-10 empty seats around us in all directions. Westfield Music Bowl is a very cool venue. Not a bad seat in the place.
I'm gonna take a freight train Down at the station, Lord I don't care where it goes Gonna climb a mountain The highest mountain I'll jump off, nobody gonna know Can't you see, whoa, can't you see What that woman, Lord, she been doin' to me Can't you see, can't you see What that woman, she been doin' to me I'm gonna find me A hole in the wall I'm gonna crawl inside and die 'Cause my lady, now A mean ol' woman, Lord Never told me goodbye Can't you see, ohh, can't you see What that woman, Lord, she been doin' to me Can't you see, can't you see What that woman, Lord, she been doin' to me I'm gonna buy a ticket, now As far as I can Ain't a-never comin' back Ride me a southbound All the way to Georgia, now Till the train, it run out of track Can't you see, ohh, can't you see What that woman, Lord, she been doin' to me Can't you see, can't you see What that woman, she been doin' to me Oh, Lord Can't you see, whoa, can't you see What that woman, Lord, she been doin' to me Can't you see, whoa, can't you see What that woman, she been doin' to me Can't you see (oh, she's such a crazy lady), can't you see What that woman (what that woman) she been doin' to me Can't you see (Lord, I can't stand), can't you see What that woman (ohh), she been doin' to me Can't you see (I'm gonna take a freight train) Can't you see (down at the station, Lord) What that woman, she been doin' to me (ain't never comin' back) oh oh Can't you see (gonna ride me a southbound, now) Can't you see (all the way to Georgia, Lord) What that woman, she been doin' to me 💙
In a cover you have to be careful about dancing all over a grave. In my opinion Warren and GM play this classic with the utmost respect. For they know what it means to generations of fans who have sung this timeless masterpiece. Warren sings this song with feeling and grace and all the while never gives the impression this song is just another cover. The way he lets this performance envelope the audience and allows it to share the lead vocal in my opinion is a compliment. The band knows the song has always been a part of every southern rock fans music library. Or in as in Warrens case every aspiring rock guitarist. The piano tells its own story, as it always has. Toy’s ride to freedom, the excitement and joy he knew he would feel when he got there. Warrens lead is just a compliment to Toy and nothing more. It doesn’t take over this performance, it just allows for the audience to picture the train gaining speed as its momentum pushes it up the mountain and the tracks end. As the music fades and the audience sings Toy’s iconic parting verse the historic romantic train ride through time appropriately comes to a pleasant and soothing end. This not only is a tribute, it’s a masterful performance by all and a dedication to a musical genius and his most iconic work. 👍👍
My first show post Covid, drove 6+ hours up from MD to see who l think is the best guitarist today. They did not disappoint. I have the Sperry show poster hanging on my wall!!
Warren Hayes turns every thing he touches in gold
👌
Haynes
Ummmmmmmmmmmmm it is already solid gold.......... hard to improve but he sure as hell does it justice !
Toy Caldwell's greatest song being performed by perhaps the best blues/rock performer alive today!
Hard to find a vocalist that can growl the blues like Toy did when he let loose on this tune & you don't find many players that could come close to his finger (Thumb) style attack but Warren never disappoints no matter how many different times he's played the cover of one of the most well identified songs in 70s Rock . Absolutely agree!
@@paullevine1813no shit there brother
@paullevine1813 Toy also a Vietnam hero!
He’s one of very few who can do covers of songs and make them sound fantastic
He's almost in Joe Cocker territory.
@@TVsGringoStarr Nice!
he makes them his own, you have to go outside the lines but keep some of the orginal parts

9+ minutes of absolute Warren Haynes goodness. Enough said.
