Rob Scallon Primus came to Burlington VT this Thursday and I got to see them, not only did I get to see my favorite band and my idol live in concert but it was my first concert period. I don't think I've had a more life changing experience
For those unaware, this album is based on a children's book The Rainbow Goblins by Ul de Rico. The Japanese musician Masayoshi Takanaka also made 2 whole amazing albums based on this, The Rainbow Goblins and the sequel The White Goblin. Highly recommended.
Evan Gipson because they got less so in their (as of now current) midpoint and needed to re-center. Well, they missed the re-centering and just slingshot along the whole universe. This is an epic thing, actually.
I'd agree to disagree. If you listen to songs like my name is mud and tommy the cat, especially live, you can hear he gets some pretty cool riffs and some intricate, long solos.
Martin Aillón You can count it in both ways, I tend to count in longer bars basically because it feels more natural sometimes, such as this song, but again, it's just me, it can be counted in 7/8 of course, but to me 7/4 feels more natural

I don't think most people, even most musicians and music aficionados, really appreciate what an utterly unique creative genius Les Claypool is. I've gone through so many phases in my musical tastes over the past 30 years, yet Primus is the only one I consistently listened to and never got tired of. He is at the pinnacle of his instrument, and so unique that he is his own freaking genre. I can't think of anyone who comes close. This album can't be released soon enough...
Primus is the reason i ever got into music and picked up a Bass, Growing up in a Christian school and a strict christian home, sneaking away to listen to Primus and the beatles albums that my older brother had. So glad to of gotten to see them live and on acid, thanks to my wife for a birthday present
I fucking love it. Primus is still crafting original tunes in 2017. Impressive as hell. Keep it up dudes! One of the best bands that ever lived, in studio and without. Thanks for still making new jams!

Oh hell yes!!! Finally a new Primus song I like from the beginning all the way through. The music sound is just like classic Rush. Love this song and can't wait for the new album! Already got my ticket for November!

This is awesome! This sounds like classic Primus, circa Frizzle Fry / Seas of Cheese. I think playing with Herb brings something out of Les that it doesn't with other drummers. A lot of the tracks he did with Brain and Jay Lane on the Primus releases kind of fell into formula/a holding pattern: funky bass riff with Charlie-Daniels-from-hell singing, repeat riff but louder for chorus, then a slight variation for the bridge, then repeat the now tired riff. It often seemed repetitive, but this has some nice variation!

A will be valid forever. As for B, there are always people who doesnt know the beginning or development of a story. We call them "mass public".
I can already tell this album is going to capture that old school primus vibe I've been missing in the more recent records. Though they do still tickle my fancy so, they didn't give me that same primus feel from the 90s

I think both The Claypool Lennon Delirium and this new Primus benefit from an evolved Claypool sound, honestly. You can hear it coming out in Primus and the Chocolate Factory.
Agreed, the chocolate factory album really kickstarted this new sound. It was a little present in Green naughehyde, but chocolate factory really cemented it
