    Great video and fantastic collection. Besides the rolexes that oris is a winner for me. The blue/grey variant was on my shortlist for a milestone b-day watch. My first mechanical watch was an orient mako ii with the all blue bezel, it's over five years old and still keeps good time although I don't wear it as often...didn't do a crystal upgrade...and it shows...lol.

      Thanks, man!! That crystal upgrade on the Mako was the best thing I've done... I think the crystal was $25 and the install was like $30 I think. So I have a nice mechanical watch with a sort-of in-house movement, company with long history, and sapphire crystal for about $200! Not bad! Yeah - I love that Oris. Hopefully can get a Caliber 400 based on in the future! But it's gonna be awhile... two Rolexes in a month hit me pretty hard lol.

      @@rockymtnstyle the watch world is so weird, most people started their collections with orients, seikos and even citizens all with in-house movements. Then move to higher priced pieces with 3rd party (ETA/selita) movements. Next tier they start chasing in-house movements and (some) look down on watches with 3rd party movements as inferior...but never seem to give orient/Seiko/citizens their dues/props as they have in-house movements. My rule is if you like it and can afford it go ahead and enjoy it. I love that I can still get excited about a new watch even if it only costs a small fraction of the price of my most expensive piece. Hopefully your dual Rolex wrist honeymoons will last long enough to save up for the next piece for the watchbox.

      Great points there. When I first got into watches that's exactly why I gravitated towards Orient and Seiko. You hit the nail on the head! THANKS! Honeymoon still going strong. Wearing one of the Rollies or the Oris nearly every day now.

    Hey Patrick, nice lineup of watches. The Vaer is a winner for sure. Just know there are plenty of American assembly companies out there. Like you I support them if the watch is right. Subtracted one and added five, too funny. The JLC is class personified. And that Oris is enough to make Solomon blush. Thanks for another fun segment brethren.

      Thanks so much, brother! Was hoping you'd watch and comment! Yeah - I need to explore the American guys more. I've sort of turned myself off to watches since December so I don't make my wife want to leave me for spending more! Hah!

    I love the glycine. The 36mm original airman is on my list to get (if only it had better water resistance).

      Thanks, Zach! I'm 100% with you... an original Airman is on my long term list of things I'd like to pick up eventually.

    Great video. I like your taste in watches. My collection is quite small, but I really like Vaer and plan to get a couple more of their watches. Right now, I just wear an S3 that is simple but looks nice.

      Thanks! Really appreciate that! If you like VAER you're in luck... I have a video coming out Friday/Saturday on the G5 Meridian GMT Pepsi and then next month on the D5 Malibu limited edition (think it's sold out now). Great company to work with and they are quickly becoming my favorite affordable watch brand.

    Really impressive collection. I’ve always had an interest in watches, but never pulled the trigger on anything nice. I’d love to own a moon watch one day, but at the same time they seem to be very common and overdone. I’d have to find a way for it to be a bit unique.

    • @rockymtnstyle
      @rockymtnstyle  7 місяців тому +1

      Thanks, man. I found it pretty hard to pull the trigger the first time on that Omega, but after the first you get desensitized... hah! The moon watch is an interesting one. I'm similar to you that regard - I appreciate it and wouldn't mind having one, but how common they seem to be makes me unlikely to ever actually buy one over some other really interesting watch... not that a blue Datejust is all that uncommon or exciting... but the Speedmaster is always talked about as some sort of halo watch that everyone should aspire towards... I just doubt I'll ever get there. Also - I find myself tending more towards dressy watches and GADA wathces these days... a chronograph may not be up my alley currently.

    Nice you recognised UA-camrs that you learned from. Urban gentry puts out some well edited videos with watch history

      I'll generally never claim to be an expert, especially since my interests are so wide and varied, so I agree it's important to recognize the folks who you've found value from over the years! TGV is also the person who made me think about Explorers for the first time. His 36mm was his favorite watch for a long time.

    I sold my Seamaster 300m No Time to Die too, even though I had the bracelet. I found it hard to read the time in low light conditions, such as evenings in the lounge. It only really worked in daylight or full lighting conditions.

      @rockymtnstyle  7 місяців тому

      Now that you mention it, yes, I had the same issue. Very interesting. Did you end up picking up something else to replace it?

      @@rockymtnstyle I decided to go for some old school vibes with a Rolex submariner
      14060M, two line version which has the modern movement but smaller proportions. Gonna put it on a brown leather strap, and hope to achieve the same feeling I got from my Seamaster.

    Really good point about the DJ smooth bezel and greater leather strap versatility. I had never considered that before but I think you're right.
