An absolute banger....when you consider how old this is,the quality of recording is amazing......you really need headphones on to appreciate this song.....classic "stereo ".......Brian May is almost criminaly underrated as a guitarist
Queen was always about the stereo-sounding effect on many of their tracks, so it is best to listen to them on headphones, as they designed their music for that particular effect. It is also why they recreated the tracks differently for the live performances. Incredible musicians.
Always say i love listening to 70’s Queen and love watching 80’s Queen Two different era’s of the band but still very much the same band in its essence. I love the early 70’s Queen for how raw everything is. Prophet song is an all time favourite for old school Queen fans
I even prefer the 70ies look lol. Who could equal Freddie in his twenties? Of course he was always a sight for sore eyes and a genius-level musician, but as a young man he was simply angelic
Thanks, Metal! Genius of Brian May was shown in that mix (his song)!...(glad you had lyrics, and most important - headphones!) enjoyed your reaction...(also, Queen albums had NO space between songs.. this one goes straight into "Love of my Life".. )
I consider this song to be Brian May's answer to Freddie's BoRap.... the intro and outro of this song was Brian playing a Japanese toy koto (in essence a miniature harp laid flat)... one video on UTube shows him playing it... AMAZING!! Thanks for a great reaction... blessings.
Great video! It was cool to hear your thought. This song is definitely one of my favorites. If I may suggest another song. Queen - Gimme the Prize. This song was part of the soundtrack to the movie Highlander. 😊
It’s Late Studio from News Of The world. Most cuts from sheer Heart Attack and Queen 1 and 2. Queen 2 is where I think they started to not just find their music style but how they wanted to sound on a recording
Brian said that this song came to him in a dream. He also had been messing with bell or canon effect which he brought into Freddie who loved it and had so much fun with it singing over what he had already sung and having it bounce back at him. I had this album on vinyl way back when it came out and it was the same. An absolutely incredible performance by Queen is White Queen live at Odeon, Hammersmith 1975, there is a long instrumental portion of that song which is perfection. Another must listen is March of The Black Queen studio version. March of the Black Queen was never adapted to be done live, a tiny snippet was included in a medley at one point, but you will want to hear the studio version, it will definitely blow your hair back.
You might find the “Making of The Prophet’s Song” video interesting, not just from a musical standpoint, but in what they had to do (with the technology they had in the 70s) in order to create the unique production techniques, especially on the delays being used for the vocal canon section. ua-cam.com/video/JOTf8GbD-oE/v-deo.htmlsi=9JofgNQy3N4CHrrd A brilliant song, 4 brilliant musicians, that legendary voice, and the amazing Roy Thomas Baker as the Genius of the Mixing Desk. And let’s not forget the Toy Koto 😊
According to Brian, Freddie did the looping all by himself. Brian said he didn't know that it could be done without the proper equipment. He said Freddie was like a living metronome.
The first part of the middle section was not layered, but done live solo by Freddie, running the tape through 3 tapemachines placed at the correct distance from each other to get the double echo in harmony. Amazing job.
This song is designed for Quadraphonic stereo it plays with with the space around you. You heard voices going your right ear to the left and above your head, but it really goes side to side, above you, corner to corner and swirls around you. It is 3D music. In a car with quadraphonic stereo back in the day it was amazing. You heard something different depending on where you sat. It was too costly to engineer the 3D music experience so only a few groups did it. Queen, The Cars, Cliff Richard. are the ones I remember so the Quadraphonic stereo fad petered out. If you and your friends didn't have enough money to really do anything... You all got in a car pooled money for gas and just drove around blasting the cars sound system all night. Cars were gigantic back then our Grand Safari station wagon sat 8... 10 if you squeezed an extra person in the two rear seats. Hell, if you laid all the seats down you had a 4X8 cargo area to seat as many people sitting Indian style as you dared!
Great reaction! Queen is band that you also have to see live, some of their songs are even better live. I would suggest Liar - Queen live at the Rainbow 1974 and Father To Son live at the Rainbow 1974 or Ogre Battle live at the Hammersmith 1975. All of these are hard rocking tracks.
This was always my favorite tune from the album although Bohemian got all the spotlight. This entire album is gold though- the songs vary a lot in genre but they are all good- my personal favorite.
There’s no duds on this album!! When I first listened to it, it was like the Wizard of Oz movie. I went from Black and White hard rock to this… thank you Queen!!!
Prog-inspired rock song & very underrated one. Understandable that people will always refer to classic by King Crimson, Genesis, Yes etc. But it is unfortunate that not many people know about this song. Marc Martel & his band did a very good cover that was complimented by Brian.
I laugh when kids say "Queen was only pop, never Rock and certainly not Metal or Prog".... BWHaaaa.... listen to Queen 2 kids, and say that with a straight face.
Like me, Queen II was born in 1974, and I got the new LP for my recent 50th birthday. An unbelievable album, up there with any I've had the privilege of hearing in the last half century.
I suppose nowadays it would be easy to do the 3 part panning thing. Freddy got to harmonize with himself as both sides, Let the n Right. Brian did solos this way as well. Hearing this as a kid when it came out was almost too much for this 7th grade kid!!!
Want more of this style but SEARING ROCK? Ogre Battle and March of the Black Queen. From Ogre Battle on is one continuous play. Its side 2 (the black side) of Queen 2. Your ears may just bleed a bit!
PS as Innuendo is also called sometimes the younger brother of Bohemian Rhapsody, March of the Black Queen is called the older brother (or sister :-) )
I feel exactly the same. Sadly, to many worldwide, Queen is Radio gaga, I want it all or I want to break free. No they weren't! For 7-8 years from 1973, they were incredible: so daring, creative and multi-faceted.
Turns into Love Of My Life. The harmonies in it make it the most beautiful! Harmonies are missing live and many have no idea of its beauty.
Love this band so much. So many great songs that were never singles and so didn't get the exposure. Maybe try It's Late from News of the World
It's never too late for It's late. Or for any of Queen's 70s albums which are sublime.
The end goes right into Love of My Life. Listen to the end of PROPHET SONG and the next song which is stunning.

Queen has so many Quality "unknown" songs! These days i listen to most of the B sides than their "hits" because they are just as good! best band ever!
And yes… John Deacon IS the most underrated bassist in rock history
Which is Funny because he created probably the two most iconic base lines (Under Pressure and Another One Bites the Dust)
@@davidmacfarlane1763 very true

@@juttapopp1869 Having seen them in the 70's, I must agree with you.

I was so lucky to see them in the late 70's.... flawless!
Happy New Year 🤩
Me too. 'The Crazy Tour, Birmingham, England, 1979. It was the tour where Freddie mounted Superman's shoulders every night! 👍

They are all doing the voices , mainly Freddie, Roger and Brian. Recording is stellar, from almost 50 years ago.

You can try "Death on two legs" too. A really expresive song
Check out Queen, Ogre Battle both studio and live at the Hammersmith 1975

Brian pleaded for this to be released as a single for the masses to to hear...his masterpiece like Freddie's before him. What a song ❤❤
A Masterpiece song and album by Queen. I have it and play it from time to time during the year. Good reaction. 😊😊😊😊
This is my favorite Brian May track from the early Queen sound. This song is a piece of art!
Early Queen … sooooo good !
Welcome to 70’s Queen.
Hugs from Brazil 🎉
Another great track!! Great reaction!!
Thanks! Appreciate it Jason

Taking prog to the extreme, plus killer metal riffs.

What this song is missing is giant speakers and a kick ass tuner. Trust me on this one 👍👍

Brian drops a d tuning for the last heavy riff to give it a deep growl ❤❤

Check out "Liar" off their first album. Another great tune!
A Night At The Opera is a stunning album: Queen's magnum opus in my opinion.
I was given a copy of the LP for Xmas back in 1975.😁

On point with the Ronnie James Dio
Next song -----> Brighton Rock

For me the great band Queen ends in 1980. After that there are some great songs too but never the same.

You need to finish "Warriors of the World" and "Triumph of Steel" albums
by manowar that you started :P

Now do... march of the black queen ... Please
