A little over a month ago I bought my first 4x4 (3rd gen Hilux Surf) and it's amazing. Last weekend I took the missus with me and we went overnight camping for the first time in the vehicle. During that time it made me realise what other accessories I'd like with me so this video has come at a great time!
Great video lads. Also great idea with the spray bottle, love it. One tip I will give is if you tow regularly it's super important to have your vehicles weight when not towing transferred as much as possible onto the front axle, without overloading it, so that way when you hitch up your trailer it will even out nicely and you will have plenty over your rear axle also without overloading it. There's no point evenly distributing everything only to then hitch up your trailer and become massively rear heavy. Also I don't see it affecting canopy setups as they can be easily opened and accessed but there is new legislation that is becoming mandatory around October regarding lithium ion battery's due to there high volitility and potential for thermal runaway....caravans and camper setups are more so the one who are going to have huge redesigns on there hands regarding external access but still something everyone should know as they are potentially extremely dangerous particularly if charging currents at certain cycles are not followed for your specific battery requirements
Thank you for making this video. The information Jock & Tim provided/explained are answers to questions I've had for a while so this video is greatly appreciated not just by me but every new off road 4x4 explorer ready to start getting their new or old vehicle's ready for their trips
Great tips boys, but like a few other people have commented, I too would love to see a wagon setup with both 5 and 7 seaters please. Extra points if it’s an 06 NS Pajero
I absolutely loved this video, and I don't even have a canopy, I have a wagon (5th gen 4Runner). 😅 This gave me a lot of great ideas on how to pack smartly and stay organized. THANK YOU for making this!
Love the video guys! Any chance of getting one of these type videos using wagons with the 2nd row and with out? Some times I wish I had a Ute for the canopy but I’m stuck with what I have and still struggle to find ideas and ways to be happy with it!
Jock you and Tim know what your talking abt and I actually learned a few things from this! Keep up the good work guys! 4wd 24/7 is my #1 favorite u tube show! Looking forward to the Rubicon episode, og dirty 30 build! The red Luxy build! Jock! Actually when it and the 30 are done you guys should do an old trucks trip! The og 30, Shorty, the red Luxy! Mabe they can talk Roothy into going on a trip as well! G Day mates! Keep it coming!
Glad i found this video. Unsure if anyone still checks comments but..... if I have a fridge and 12v in the canopy do I have to ventilate the canopy or will it be fine when completely closed
good tips guys , we don't get the good trays in the U.S. lot of us , we camp out of the our pu box or tub I have the mim in mine as its just a week end campout sleep in the pu box have ,6.5 tub have a large tarp tie down and its nice and cozy in the box leave the til gate down saw some one using a beach pop up canopy over his tub they had a bed rug blankets party lights cool set up
Great vid guys, short question though. If I want a 1m canopy, and I have a weather/water proof fridge, can I just put the fridge in the tray section and use the canopy space for non weather proof things. I know that it’s not great for weight distribution because it’s behind the rear axle.
Low weight doesn't negate weight up high ever! If you put weight up top you have changed the center of gravity and tou will never get it as low as it started, the only way to lowering to its original height is to fill your tires with lead and nobos5 is doing that.
What's your opinion or experience with drawer fridges in a half canopy? given the compressor would be lacking ventilation if you were to build around it.
its a shame they dont show 20 expert tips using used or old canopies etc.. Ok i am in England with a N70 so we dont have those, but each time this channel seems how much they want you to spend.. rather than get out there on the a good budget range of stuff... its always the top end stuff they try to sell you.
I come from Europe and did many trips in the past with budget camping gear over there no problem, but in Australia there is a good reason for quality gear, once you've been on a corrugated, potholed, sandy dusty, possible muddy or rocky track for a thousand km's you'll know why. Everything not up to par rattles and shakes to bits and wears out. You want good quality gear. Trust me and pack it properly. Even things like door seals etc. I had a tailgate not shut properly once on a land cruiser wagon, only a little gap, was eating dust for days after, everything was brown and that was only for a couple of hours driving.
Jocko and Tim are a seriously underrated duo - more of them please!
I know this is really just an informercial…. But I actually enjoy watching them.

Would love to see a dog-box VS full-size canopy comparison video. Keep up the good work lads
That dish washing tip is going to be a life changer 😍
Tip 14 - The missus just asked me why I put a white dot on her arm. She will find out in 3 trips time.

Love to see this but a wagon with the 5 seats intact
I like the advice. Simple but effective is the key. That’s how I’m doing my 200.
Great tips boys, but like a few other people have commented, I too would love to see a wagon setup with both 5 and 7 seaters please. Extra points if it’s an 06 NS Pajero

for sure you can. Fridged like the ARB Elements are supposed to be left outside
@@stefano_nmd great thanks mate!
whats the best way to store items above fridges without drilling into the roof?

Only when you have a open check book!?
Just a question wondering if MIT's alloys sell there canopys on there own or you have to buy a tray aswell ?
That's some really good advice, is there any chance you could do a giveaway of a canopy? I really wish I could afford one 😅
what drawers are they?
Have you considered that another 90 kilos of asymmetrical load added to the vehicle is the driver?
What does a set like this cost to deck out
Hey Tim when are you coming back I love az don't get me wrong but I want you to come back

Hey man! They talk about it in the ep at 8:18!

With all the fires I have seen lately with Lithium batteries, lead acid looks better.
Hate to tell ya jocko but you cant bury poo anymore, its gotta be in some sort of biohzard container. Ie: camping porta potty, nappy, ect.
Just noticed how the MITS tray and canopy don’t line up, thats a bit average considering the $$$$
