    Beautifully done. I found that that coating the thread with Super Glue just before whip finishing makes a very tight knot that won’t come loose. Best regards, Richard...

    I know this vid is old but i just found it and am looking for hints on what could be used in place of calfs hair? Any suggestions?

      Parapost yarn or zelon would work. Even craft foam would work.

      Polypropylene yarn which comes in various colors. e.g. yellow and orange which show up better in foam lines.

      This doesn’t answer your question, but please don’t overlook calf’s tail as it is easier to work with than calf’s hair that’s attached to a patch. I use it on parachute flies I tie.

    So on the legs, are you putting the super glue on the entire leg or just on the top, behind the knot?

    I wonder how a corn husk wing would hold up. It'd be a hell of a lot cheaper than turkey feathers.

      coat it with some loon softhead and let it soak in and set. should work fine afterwards
