I hear ya bro, joining an empty server to learn to weave around the landscape/buildings is what helped me. I personally did it in Shang Hi on battlefield 4
It took til 1:55 for anyone to try to lock on. In EVERY single game I tryed any of the helicopters I had 10 people locking on to me within the first 5 seconds.
The scout is ridiculously fun and good without much AA , even with just the pilot. Im not that good of a heli pilot and i got a 63 and 0 game, which is my highest killstreak in any game ever
Scout helicopter in Battlefield 2042 doesn't require skill at all. It is just so cheap to get kills. A semi-decent aim is enough plus you got powerful rocket pods. You can't always get 100+ killstreaks though, this is a rare good game without much lock-ons.

Battlefield 1 is the worst when it comes to countering aircraft. The bombers can fly out of the AA's range & the AA rocket gun is hard to use at anything over 200m. The only consistent success I've had is w/the tankgewehr, & that doesn't last long, because the coordinated all vehicle squad will start to fly in from multiple directions while pinning you w/a sniper.
Your team's helis/jets are supposed to take care of them - not their problem that the enemy pilots are bad. This is why playing within a clan is so much fun.
Good flying, communication, and teamwork. What I didn't see was enemy squads doing the same to deter attacks with smoke, M5s, focused fire, etc. What I did see is squads running off separate ways, often ignoring the threat. Anything is OP if not countered. I will say that the auto repair is a bit ridiculous.
If you would play a bit you would know that there is no active counter to helis currently. smoke doesn't help, too much cover for helis to flee to. not a single rocket is one shot
Of course not. Nobody like when this happens except for the 4 in the helicopter. Actually, I wouldn’t even like it in the heli because I would actually want to play the game and not be a repair tool or spotter all game. What they really need to do is make the ttk on scouts much quicker. Playing today, I must have put 500 rounds into a scout heli from a car mounted minigun…. Heli was completely fine….. however me, I got hosed by that chopper in about 50 rounds. I am a pilot. Been too 1% in planes and helicopters in all BFs since bf4, they need a better way to take out helis and planes.
Not having the option to spot (even if you only spot for yourself) is such a deal breaker for me. Spotting was essential to confirm, whether an enemy is friends or foe from a distance (especially if friends and foe look exactly the same, which is just stupid) but also to have an indicator where to shoot if the enemy is blending in with the dark background. Without it, I've found myself shooting aimlessly in the dark hoping I'll hit the person I saw for a moment

Sooooooooo... i jumped in the aa and literally, you could fire off a missle, stay locked on to whatever it is and when the flares stop, the missle will find the target again and still destroy a part or get a kill. The missle would NEVER explode on the flares, it would fly around an around an around until they were gone, pretty broken but dope lol

You should get the passengers to take the recon grenade as well, they will only have one but if you as the pilot get the ammo box you can chuck one down if you ever need to rep I’ve been throwing the recon grenade out of the heli when I’m soloing and it’s a great way to solo spot

I always enjoy fighting against good pilots like this in the game cause it's so rewarding when you finally take them out. Awesome gameplay and teamwork. I usually run support with an lmg with armor piercing rounds or egineer with turret, aa rockets and same guns.
Honestly the flight mechanics of 3 and 4 weren’t all that hard to master if you took the time to learn them. If you were a casual player and you understood speed control you were most likely going to farm someone who had little to no idea what they’re doing. However if you were a casual pub pilot going against someone who dogfights often you were definitely going to struggle but it’s not like it’s impossible to get a kill or even contest the better pilot. Thus providing a skill gap rewarding the better pilot for time spent mastering that craft. Idk why dice would move away from the model from 3 and 4 in a modern setting and it’s truly disappointing. The mechanics also encouraged team work to take out a pilot if he was dominating the map. Which was one of dice’s main focuses in battlefield. Their decision to rework the flight model into this garbage leaves me perplexed to say the least lmao. 1 and 5 were not the answer either. Simply just go back to 3 or 4.

Some people are good in jets, others in helis, me.. I sit in an AA and shoot them all down. Highest streak was 75 🤣 reminds me of the good old days in battlefield getting toxic messages from people who got 100+ in vehicles in every game, except the ones I was in 🤣🤣

Incase you did not know, the miniguns are not centered like they were in bf4. I believe they will cross to center at about 100-150m. Ao being 10-20-30-40-50 meters away from your target, you will have to choose 1 gun to line up with your target, that is if it is a small target.

I shot so many AA missiles at helis in the beta and so few of them landed due to the ridiculous handling capabilities of the heli. I dont necessarily think the heli needs a nerf as much as the AA launcher needs a buff. The flares are fine, I had one guy dodge 5 heat seeking missiles in a row without ever popping his flares, that's absurd.
I used to be such a sweaty asshole in BF3 in the attack heli (regualr caspian border 90-0 games) , haven't really played games since and seeing this is giving me heavy nostalgia haha
@@imslagger The very worse Apache in any battlefield. lol Although 2042's Apache is pretty garbage. BC2 chopper physics were horrendous and it was nothing but circles from choppers nonstop in that game it was hilarious to watch, they looked like they were roller skating, absolutely terrible.

I hope you realize that by farming so hard in the beta, you're making sure the vehicles are going to get nerfed super hard. The helis and jets are so easy to fly. I didn't think they'd go even further casual than BF4 was for flight model, but they did.

Don't know if i like that helicopters have unlimited ammunition. Makes them very powerful due to rocket spam. I think it would have been better to rather give them a decent amount of rockets, and then once they're empty the player would have to return to base to resupply somewhere. This would encourage helicopters to either withdraw, or start using machine guns. As of now there's no reason to not use rockets.
It takes a long time to fill up the 16 rockets. I think its pretty balanced because the nightbird has almost no health. 2 rockets and it gets detroyed.

Very unfortunately, the Osprey and Hind have the same issue, as the Transport chopper from Battlefield 3 and 4: Potentially really deadly, but the pilot doesn't have a good time because all he can do is fly, stay in place and flare
yeah its insane. out of the like 40 matches i played, about 3 of them were like this. else it was absolutely constant aa spam. literally unplayable. its either finding something else to do, or dodging rockets the whole match. extremely fun and engaging gameplay. and i can only imagine it getting worse when absolutely everyone realizes they should carry handheld aa

This was a bit easier in Beta when no one knew what was going on. Today you would spend a lot more time running from missiles and fighting good enemy pilots. There's always a chance you get on a good server and make this run today, I just don't think it's as easy as it was in Beta. Great piloting skills, good evasion, and near perfect aim... well played.
Are you tapping W or somethinf? Seems like you're able to fly way more straight faster especially when close to the ground and not having to tilt down. My heli always wanted to climb really hard
You had a surprisingly low amount of lock-ons. I’m typically getting lit up every 5 seconds when I fly in those main areas. And the counter measures are complete shit. When you launch flares, within 1 second you are locked again. Also does a red lock-on warning mean they have a solid lock or that they’ve fired already? There’s no way to tell anymore so most of the time I throw flares when it turns red and I get repeatedly get locked and shot anyways
Yea I'm sure it's gonna be changed on release because the lock on sounds were different in the tech test, but you're right it's annoying as shit, when it's red and it's beeping really fast, that's just means they have a full lock, when it's just a steady horn like sound, that means the missile is coming torwards you. And sometimes you can lose the lock on and the missile still curves somewhere and hits you..
Definately great flying!! I found it frustrating as after getting owned by choppers constantly I started using aa missiles however they are pretty much useless on the scout, 1 in 10 hit if you are Lucky (yes after the flares had already been used) I had a squad of 3 with aa and we couldn’t take down a scout.. this needs some work imo. Also minigun vs choppers - scout takes way too little damage - (possibly it they were being repaired but I spent 8 seconds on a scout 100% hitting it and it didn’t even start to smoke. I can understand if it’s the larger attack chopper but the scout has minimal armour and should drop much easier.
I run the SOFLAM on recon and I play with 2 engineers and a medic. We make sure the skies are clear. To your point, communication and roles are important in this game.
I've actually used the tanks for a few hours and they are incredibly fun to use. you just gotta use a really weird playstyle. its vastly different from BF4. you just gotta sit still on one side of the map and kinda snipe things, and once you get hit immediately drive away. everyone has launchers so you cant really fight infantry properly, but once you have the range advantage its really nice
@@HAWKbest it works, and its what tanks are primarily made for. if you wanna roll into objective and die thats your call man. but I prefer moving into tactical positions, killing 30 people, and then rolling onto the next position. people might not like it when theyre on the receiving end, but atleast im helping my team instead of being generally useless..
The scout is what I played most during the beta, but I found it super hard to deal with the attack heli lock ons. But they seemed to have just vanished from your match XD Will Definitely be grinding them at launch, learning from you as I go
Whenever I fly any heli I fly out of spawn or even just spawn and get the message "Lock-on" or "Missile incoming" cant even fly 1 minute without getting locked on by someone or something its insane.
I almost only played the scout heli in the beta. Started out on the attack heli but the lack of a gunner made it hard to get a lot of kills going. The scout is OP, you can deal with infantry so easily even without a spotter and I was constantly taking down attack heli's because most of the weren't using a gunner and the scout is just to mobile for a solo pilot to hit their rockets all the time.
Idk how much I like the look of the combat, I haven’t played yet but it looks very bulky and inarticulate, and that’s with one of the best in the world doing it. Maybe my eyes are playing tricks on me but hopefully they iron that out.

Only issue with helis I found was the Anti air launcher even when locked on and fired at a heli (that didn't have flares) the rocket would go towards the heli and then vanish before hitting them, Not sure if it was just a beta bug but I noticed it heaps, I spent ages standing next to ammo boxes firing at the same heli over and over and 1/3 rockets would actually hit (even when I juked flares)

It is not unusual to see pilots go 100+ - 0 in BF but nothing is said or done. if a ground troop does that it 100% aimbots we all know it, does this seem right? we have a chopper that is flying way faster and far more maneuverable than it is in real live, that cannot be taken down by a guided projectile in 1 hit, is self repairing and has boosted in flight repair ability and don't forget unlimited fuel and ammunition. Does this not sound a bit OP?
Mi-240 is so much fun, I literally fly that thing solo and swap seats and farm B. Thing takes like 4 stingers before going down and all the guns on it glass mfers if you can keep it stable. Didn’t think they could make transport chopper more fun but they did it.
Crazy how not one jet or attack helicopter or AA pursued you guys for longer than 10 seconds. But when I’m in a heli I get a good 20 seconds before im swarmed
Helis have ALWAYS been over powered. And when a good pilot is in them, it ruins the game really. I don't like them when they're on my team cause now I don't get to do much, and I hate playing against them because I can't do much against it.
Jets ruin the game. Jets own every server if they are good. Mini-bird doesn't stand a chance against a good jet pilot. You'll be hiding the entire round.

Look for black spots and muzzle flash.
This is literally the reason hardcore mode is better. Not any magical red dots appear above people just because people lay eyes on you.

Usualy i got some guy asking for a 'truce'. Its the 'plz no' shake equivelant of the jets. Which is fine, but now you cant communicate with the other team.
As a jet pilot player, I respect that. Looking forward to try and dodge you.
The problem with AA is the range. As a heli pilot, I can get taken out across the map before I can even pinpoint where it's coming from.
I love how everyone else's helis shoot straight but when I jump in one they shoot as straight as a roundabout and deal 2 Damage a rocket

Oh yeah, they nerfed repair in heli in BF4, but it seems that the devs "kinda forgot about that" here. This shit is so op, also, why the heck is it rolling from side to side the whole game ?

If you tap when using repair tool it repairs faster than holding it
I like heli's but i think could be only repaired on the ground, they should rename conquest to kill the heli mode.

Helicopters are what I missed the most while playing bfv and bf1. They were fun to fly, but I also liked shooting them down.
I always wonder how pilots fly so fast and keep their aim so steady. Whenever I fly it feels like I'm wading through mud lol.

Incase you did not know, the miniguns are not centered like they were in bf4. I believe they will cross to center at about 100-150m. Ao being 10-20-30-40-50 meters away from your target, you will have to choose 1 gun to line up with your target, that is if it is a small target.

I shot so many AA missiles at helis in the beta and so few of them landed due to the ridiculous handling capabilities of the heli. I dont necessarily think the heli needs a nerf as much as the AA launcher needs a buff. The flares are fine, I had one guy dodge 5 heat seeking missiles in a row without ever popping his flares, that's absurd.

@@imslagger The very worse Apache in any battlefield. lol Although 2042's Apache is pretty garbage. BC2 chopper physics were horrendous and it was nothing but circles from choppers nonstop in that game it was hilarious to watch, they looked like they were roller skating, absolutely terrible.

Really? It was opposite for me. Controls are wayyyy to responsive and the physics are much more forgiving than BF4 ones

The helis and jets are so easy to fly. I didn't think they'd go even further casual than BF4 was for flight model, but they did.

Don't know if i like that helicopters have unlimited ammunition. Makes them very powerful due to rocket spam.
I think it would have been better to rather give them a decent amount of rockets, and then once they're empty the player would have to return to base to resupply somewhere.
This would encourage helicopters to either withdraw, or start using machine guns. As of now there's no reason to not use rockets.
It takes a long time to fill up the 16 rockets. I think its pretty balanced because the nightbird has almost no health. 2 rockets and it gets detroyed.

Very unfortunately, the Osprey and Hind have the same issue, as the Transport chopper from Battlefield 3 and 4: Potentially really deadly, but the pilot doesn't have a good time because all he can do is fly, stay in place and flare

AA missiles are too weak in this game. My squad and I tried to take down choppers.
Range was way to short and lock on took way to long.
they're weak because at anytime 40 enemy players are carrying aa rockets. it's not realistic. aa should cost you a weapon slot or something big.

yeah its insane. out of the like 40 matches i played, about 3 of them were like this. else it was absolutely constant aa spam. literally unplayable. its either finding something else to do, or dodging rockets the whole match. extremely fun and engaging gameplay. and i can only imagine it getting worse when absolutely everyone realizes they should carry handheld aa

This was a bit easier in Beta when no one knew what was going on. Today you would spend a lot more time running from missiles and fighting good enemy pilots. There's always a chance you get on a good server and make this run today, I just don't think it's as easy as it was in Beta. Great piloting skills, good evasion, and near perfect aim... well played.

Are you tapping W or somethinf? Seems like you're able to fly way more straight faster especially when close to the ground and not having to tilt down. My heli always wanted to climb really hard
I feel the same. The physics for choppers in 2042 is so busted.
You had a surprisingly low amount of lock-ons. I’m typically getting lit up every 5 seconds when I fly in those main areas. And the counter measures are complete shit. When you launch flares, within 1 second you are locked again. Also does a red lock-on warning mean they have a solid lock or that they’ve fired already? There’s no way to tell anymore so most of the time I throw flares when it turns red and I get repeatedly get locked and shot anyways
Yea I'm sure it's gonna be changed on release because the lock on sounds were different in the tech test, but you're right it's annoying as shit, when it's red and it's beeping really fast, that's just means they have a full lock, when it's just a steady horn like sound, that means the missile is coming torwards you. And sometimes you can lose the lock on and the missile still curves somewhere and hits you..
Definately great flying!! I found it frustrating as after getting owned by choppers constantly I started using aa missiles however they are pretty much useless on the scout, 1 in 10 hit if you are Lucky (yes after the flares had already been used) I had a squad of 3 with aa and we couldn’t take down a scout.. this needs some work imo.
Also minigun vs choppers - scout takes way too little damage - (possibly it they were being repaired but I spent 8 seconds on a scout 100% hitting it and it didn’t even start to smoke. I can understand if it’s the larger attack chopper but the scout has minimal armour and should drop much easier.

I run the SOFLAM on recon and I play with 2 engineers and a medic. We make sure the skies are clear. To your point, communication and roles are important in this game.
Meanwhile tanks even with a full crew get demolished
I've actually used the tanks for a few hours and they are incredibly fun to use. you just gotta use a really weird playstyle. its vastly different from BF4. you just gotta sit still on one side of the map and kinda snipe things, and once you get hit immediately drive away. everyone has launchers so you cant really fight infantry properly, but once you have the range advantage its really nice

Whenever I fly any heli I fly out of spawn or even just spawn and get the message "Lock-on" or "Missile incoming" cant even fly 1 minute without getting locked on by someone or something its insane.
Sorry man, I love flying but sometimes the helicopters get too much. You have to pull out the aa , big box o ammo, and return fire!

I almost only played the scout heli in the beta. Started out on the attack heli but the lack of a gunner made it hard to get a lot of kills going. The scout is OP, you can deal with infantry so easily even without a spotter and I was constantly taking down attack heli's because most of the weren't using a gunner and the scout is just to mobile for a solo pilot to hit their rockets all the time.
Idk how much I like the look of the combat, I haven’t played yet but it looks very bulky and inarticulate, and that’s with one of the best in the world doing it. Maybe my eyes are playing tricks on me but hopefully they iron that out.

Only issue with helis I found was the Anti air launcher even when locked on and fired at a heli (that didn't have flares) the rocket would go towards the heli and then vanish before hitting them, Not sure if it was just a beta bug but I noticed it heaps, I spent ages standing next to ammo boxes firing at the same heli over and over and 1/3 rockets would actually hit (even when I juked flares)
They added that u can just dodge AA pretty op don’t even need flares lol

It is not unusual to see pilots go 100+ - 0 in BF but nothing is said or done. if a ground troop does that it 100% aimbots we all know it, does this seem right? we have a chopper that is flying way faster and far more maneuverable than it is in real live, that cannot be taken down by a guided projectile in 1 hit, is self repairing and has boosted in flight repair ability and don't forget unlimited fuel and ammunition. Does this not sound a bit OP?
Mi-240 is so much fun, I literally fly that thing solo and swap seats and farm B. Thing takes like 4 stingers before going down and all the guns on it glass mfers if you can keep it stable. Didn’t think they could make transport chopper more fun but they did it.

Helis have ALWAYS been over powered. And when a good pilot is in them, it ruins the game really. I don't like them when they're on my team cause now I don't get to do much, and I hate playing against them because I can't do much against it.
Jets ruin the game. Jets own every server if they are good. Mini-bird doesn't stand a chance against a good jet pilot. You'll be hiding the entire round.
