One reason why I like Frictional Games is that they don´t simply use jumpscares to scare the player but use the atmosphere to build up the horror. Also this game has one of my fears in video games "A time limit".
At least it's more of a "soft" time limit in the sense it technically only gets harder once that time limit runs out, but you can still keep going. Just gotta watch out for the spooky fella wandering around more actively in the dark.
@h̵e̵a̶v̴y̴h̸e̷a̷d̴2̴k̵1̸ That is, at least for me, the thing. If you know like in "Five Nights at Freddy´s" that there will be Jumpscares at some point you get used to them. But games with a build up where you don´t know when something could happen only the anticipation could make you nervous and scared. Maybe something will happen or ot and you made yourself worried for nothing and when you let your guard down it happens. :D
The flashlight mechanic is a cool idea. You can basically use it as much as you like, but powering it up makes a lot of noise which, in turn, gives away your position.
It has a fuel mechanic too, can't use it too often like with lanterns but this time it produces noise as well. It's honestly a good twist on the usual mechanic, I like it a lot
I like the RE style saferoom, inventory and storage system and that single bullet in the revolver chamber really screams resource scarcity is one of the main tropes of the game. I am so excited for this.
I was nervous when I saw a gun, then I saw only 1 bullet and I was like "oh yeah, this is frictional alright". It's one thing to make the player completely defenseless like Amnesia The Dark Descent, it's another thing to give the player a weapon to tease that they may be able to defend themselves and then starve them of bullets. It's like they're teasing the player, dangling safety just in front of their face that they can never reach. I also really like that the scarcity of weapons make them feel more like keys rather than a way to fight back. I doubt you'll ever able to actually fight the monster; but being forced to use a grenade not for defense but to open a door is such a lovely kick in the teeth. You *could* have used that grenade to hurt the monster or defend yourself; but you know the only way forward is to trade your security for progress.

This already looks way better than Rebirth in any aspect and feels scarier than SOMA. And thank you so much for the return of the silence and no chatter. I'm all in!!! I feel it will be great!
The dark decent was one of my favorite horror games of all time along with being a cultural phenomenon. Soma was also fantastic. I hope this is better than other amnesia sequels.
This looks like you guys might have made something close to the original Amnesia’s level of atmosphere again, and that is no small feat. Well done guys
Im glad theres a weapon in this one, i think the age of horror games where you just run and hide died when RE7 came out and showed that having the option to fight back is way better.
I saw the door explode at 3:38 and immediately thought: "that is some classic penumbra jank," and I'm not entirely sure why. I know I meant it in a good way, though.
I find the battle with the generator being your temporary safety a facinating concept. If done carefully it could allow for more unique levels and interesting puzzles. Can't wait to see what Irrational is cooking!
I absolutely love that we finally get to use weapons to defend ourselves with. Despite that, it still doesn’t take away the horror factor because while the player can finally fight back as a last resort (instead of the occasional running or hiding). The monster is larger and deadlier than before as it not only has incredible sharp senses like hearing and smell. It’s also can’t die. NTM you more screwed when the generator is out of fuel because *THE BEAST* will roam freely.
This looks awesome! This is such a cool setting during wartime. I see the the classic Amnesia fuel collecting for light has been adapted to filling a generator is really good idea to compensate it being a more modern era compared to the other games. Usually I find myself getting too comfy in horror games, comfy enough to scoure levels and lose uneasiness, but having a timer basically ticking until the big bad monster comes into the dark with you sounds fun ironically! I wonder of sanity mechanic will return in Amnesia Bunker?
Soma was one of the scariest games, not because I was scared at all. It made me have existential dread and made me question what being human was, and brother that this is terrifying.
Lads, I cannot wait... to play this game! I played Amnesia 13 years ago when it first came out and scared the living crap out of me as a kid. I loved FrictionalGames ever since and this game looks just as epic as the rest.
The added stress of a noisy flashlight (among other items) is genius 🙊💦 it also feels like there isn't a lot, if any, places to hide (not even the closets, how cruel!)
Beautifully executed! The single gun shot at the end was perfect. At the moment he pulled the gun out we had hope that maybe this would stop the beast temporarily. We held that last bit of hope for as long as the gun was out. Then the gun went off, the trailer ended, and that last little bit of hope was never fully realized. We held onto it as it drifted away like a wisp of smoke escaping to the ether, never knowing if it was real or not. Nice job!
I am very grateful that my curiosity overweight the fear and I kept playing all the Frictional games. Thank you guys for all this masterpieces launched until now!!!

One thing I’ll say without doubt is that Frictional has the best sound design of any game studio. Even AAA developers can’t match the intricacies and diverse sounds Frictional makes. I mean, just the monster growling is enough to make me shudder, I almost don’t want to see it when I finally play this game.
This might be the best Amnesia yet, I like how the protagonist adjusts the watch so it shows how much time is left before the generator runs out of fuel, kind of like a grace period or headstart.
I absolutely love the new atmosphere and all the sounds. Can't wait to play it! I'd love the main character to talk and also to have unlimited amount of space in my inventory, but it's a matter of taste. SOMA had a huge impact on me, I guess :)
Although this game seems to be pretty good and solid, one of the key things that made amnesia the dark descent a masterpiece was the fact that each environment seemed very different from the rest of the areas and each area was unique in its own way. From what I have seen in all of those gameplay clips, the whole game takes place in the same bunker using the same color palette everywhere and each hallway and room looks almost the same and it gives me a maze like feeling that I don't really find appealing. I hope we get some sort of diversity in this bunker. Take a look at the choir from TDD being totally different from the cistern, being 100% different from the study/archives/guest room and again being different from the wine cellar and laboratory areas and also the inner sanctum which just looks like its not even part of a castle anymore. Each area gave me a totally different vibe. While I understand that the key features of this game are the resident evil type inventory and the use of weapons and traps, which are a nice addition, I really hope that this game is not just about copy pasted hallways and rooms that all look the same while you only run from the same ghoul like monster because that would be a disappointment for me at least..
yeah the difference in envirionment in TTD are masterpiecie but how do you want a difference in rooms in a... Bunker? Bunkers are just concrete hallways, but i wish too that this game will be something more than that
A true return to peak form, and a wonderful execution of the true classic combination of horror and worldbuilding all in one setting. I won't lie. I doubted; Scoffed, thinking that you had lost the touch... I was wrong. And I look forward to exploring the results for myself~
It's so much fun, it's crazy! I've never seen a gameplay with so many possibilities. Also, in terms of horror, we've never seen anything like this. Walking in the dark is the pinnacle of replayability.
Amnesia will forever have a special place in my heart. I remember shitting myself playing this at DAY with music in the background. Anyway will fkin do it again! But this time at night without background music 😆
I love that this continues the feel of Rebirth, WW1 aesthetic, of course minus the whole desert thing. Speaking of Rebirth, I really hope there's gonna be more of that other dimension or at least something that is just as awe inspiring as that was.
I hope this game has more horror in it then the previous one. Rebirth was okay, didn't care for the story or the dialing back on the scares. Looking forward to this one
I'm glad Devs are willing to take more risks when it comes to horror. Having something to fight back but not kill everything is a nice change of pace in the stealth horror genre.
This is surprisingly good from what I'm seeing so far. I liked the way Daniel's backstory was handled in Dark Descent, so I'm hoping for a similar route with a great voice actor who reads lore-relevant notes without forcing it on the player.
Rebirth was epic as always. And, Rebirth's storyline & characters were awesome. My peek was SOMA. You're games are making me uncomfortable for weeks and i'm freaking love that feeling. I'm very sure this game will very good ambient & characters & storyline. You're guys doing very well on these games. Waiting for this one!
I thought that Rebirth was incredibly disappointing - both story and characters were poorly written with way too much uninvolving dialog. The exploration was also tedious. On the other hand SOMA was fantastic, as was The Dark Descent.
Lucifer, man, you need to lose that hate boner. Rebirth was f i n e. Flawed, absolutely, but for a small team, you've gotta admire the ambition. You do nothing but constantly shit on it in every comment you leave. Maybe make a criticism video on it and channel your thoughts into something productive and constructive?
Wow are you guys ever nailing that "buildup" of tension till the generator starts to sputter and the lights start to dim, and the monster aggros. This is the "slow is fast" design approach - i.e. don't "rush to the finish". Taking your time with world building - and in spooking the player - always yields best results 😄. Honestly though, I am super super intrigued. Soma is probably my #1 favorite game next to Alyx. And the OG amnesia and penumbra's were so good - this game looks like it stays true to what they did well (particularly penumbra - big penumbra vibes) but with really interesting new innovative gameplay.
Imagine the day "Amnesia: The Bunker" releases then you wonder what they'd release next. First setting was in a Castle. Second as a Victorian Mansion. Third as under the Sea/Ocean. Fourth was in Algeria then weird stuff happens. Fifth is this - in a bunker.
You forgot the Penumbra series though. The first one takes place in an undergroud mine, the second one takes place in a secret research facility and the third one takes place in a... uhh.. in a... I don't really know where does the third one takes place tbh.

Seems like it takes place in one whole bunker, and its kind of a survival situation, gathering resources and bringing them back to base while trying to progress. Interesting twist, and looks a lot better than rebirth for sure
It looks incredible. Atmosphere and sound design are top notice. Having to make on the fly decisions with what you have. This is looking to be a phenomenal survival horror experience.

This already looks way better than Rebirth in any aspect and feels scarier than SOMA. And thank you so much for the return of the silence and no chatter. I'm all in!!! I feel it will be great!
if it will have a story half as good as soma, it will be a perfect game :D
Sorry Love it Soma and Rebirth ! ...
screw you
Soma is better
no way this looks scarier than SOMA
So many Rebirth haters down here…
Started with a high note but ended with a banger. That cliffhanger is so good. I want to play this game even more ;)
good thing you want to play it because i dont know if you heard the game is delayed but theres a demo coming in 10 days (or 9 days)
may 22
omg that ending!! can´t wait to play this
The dark decent was one of my favorite horror games of all time along with being a cultural phenomenon. Soma was also fantastic. I hope this is better than other amnesia sequels.
Insanely good game and has 15 times more replay value and Klisto Propofol.
I bought a PC to play Dark Descent back in the day; Now I'm building one to play this beauty! Can't wait!
fastest 10 mins of my life, can't wait to play the game
I was like: "already end of video?"
It looks very beautiful. I'm looking forward to the release
This looks brilliant. It really looks like you're on your own with your wits and gameplay choices impact what will actually happen.
This looks like you guys might have made something close to the original Amnesia’s level of atmosphere again, and that is no small feat. Well done guys
This is closer to Penumbra than the original Amnesia
That dude at the beginning was waaaay too chill with a moster on his heels.
Looks very promising. Really excited to see how the game plays out. Hope the team is doing well.
who are you

@@VivifyGamer ok
No i am vivifygamer7543
Im glad theres a weapon in this one, i think the age of horror games where you just run and hide died when RE7 came out and showed that having the option to fight back is way better.
Game looks gorgeous, I’m glad the Dev’s are still making games. Their games hold a special place in my heart
I saw the door explode at 3:38 and immediately thought: "that is some classic penumbra jank," and I'm not entirely sure why. I know I meant it in a good way, though.
You know the game's gonna be incredible when you can see your character's legs
This looks so much like The Dark Descent + Penumbra, it makes me so excited, and it looks scary af.
NTM you more screwed when the generator is out of fuel because *THE BEAST* will roam freely.
oh, that's really cool, I'm enjoyed. This game have so much vibes of Penumbra and I can't wait to play this
This looks awesome!
Bunker doesn't have a sanity mechanic, as confirmed in an interview few months ago. They wanted to go for something more "tangible" this time round.
I know right? I don't know if the dynamo flashlight is worth turning on if the monster can hear it too.
Nice job!
Y'know I was skeptical before, but this brings me back to Penumbra. Love the clever little flashlight!
10 seconds is all i needed to see, nostalgia vibes instantly, i'm already down for this to be the first scary game to actually scare me in years
i kinda dont care about amnesia
but i love Soma so much, i want you guys to create a masterpiece like that again❤
I am very grateful that my curiosity overweight the fear and I kept playing all the Frictional games. Thank you guys for all this masterpieces launched until now!!!
Some of the sfx is from TDD? wow instant nostalgia. Can't wait to play it soon
The graphics are just perfect right now. Clean yet dirty and the movement looks very smooth.
SO EXCITED! I am really glad they didn't show the monster. I'm buying this on like every platform
They actually did. If you pause the video around 0:18 you can see the monster’s face.
@@MrGoldVault_YT eh not really tho
@@the_gamer_g00seTry pausing and unpausing until you see white eyes.
@@MrGoldVault_YT yeah I saw that dude I meant the whole monster. Over time they've shown some of the face, it's arm, the sounds, but they're only doing bit by bit
@@the_gamer_g00se you can "see" the whole body in the cover art of the game but its only a sillhouete i dont know how to spell it
0:17 if u pause at the right time you can see part of the monsters face on the right side of the screen but aside that i love how well they keep the monster hidden in this demo
I love how the Amnesia games are progressively getting closer to modern day, it would be cool if the next Amnesia took place in like the 50-80's and in some asylum or somethi- oh wait...
What? This game takes place before Rebirth which is 1930s
@@peiwenlazarus6504 true but I mean it's still generally around the same time I'd say. Within the 20th century, but if they were to go back to an earlier time period with the next one then my little idea might not age well by then lol
Basically describing outlast unless your playing as patient trying to escape a asylum since you play as someone trying to expose mount massive asylum in outlast
Soma also had it where it took place in the modern day/future
@@Deadhead-kq4hr was Soma made by the same people that made Amnesia?
One thing I’ll say without doubt is that Frictional has the best sound design of any game studio. Even AAA developers can’t match the intricacies and diverse sounds Frictional makes.
I mean, just the monster growling is enough to make me shudder, I almost don’t want to see it when I finally play this game.
We finally got the monsters name. “The fucker”
this feels so old school type. man cant wait fot outlast trials. amnesia bunker, totk, and others
Looks great, seems like a return to form with Frictional. Can't wait.
This might be the best Amnesia yet, I like how the protagonist adjusts the watch so it shows how much time is left before the generator runs out of fuel, kind of like a grace period or headstart.
Wow, the tension was amazing! Great that the monster wasn't spoiled either.
Seems to be a ghoul from rebirth... sadly
I love using things in the environment to get through the game and the brick throwing made me happy.
Can’t wait to play this!
At least custom stories can make use of the Rebirth assets. Could make some pretty creative things when unrestricted
yeah the difference in envirionment in TTD are masterpiecie but how do you want a difference in rooms in a... Bunker? Bunkers are just concrete hallways, but i wish too that this game will be something more than that
Dude... The first 25 seconds and I already had the chills and tension of "What in the actual F is that thing!!!" I can't wait to play it!!!!
Frictional Games really went back to their roots with this one. Very Penumbra, I love it.
Maybe this will actually be a real 3rd one in the series?
A true return to peak form, and a wonderful execution of the true classic combination of horror and worldbuilding all in one setting.
I won't lie. I doubted; Scoffed, thinking that you had lost the touch... I was wrong. And I look forward to exploring the results for myself~
It's so much fun, it's crazy! I've never seen a gameplay with so many possibilities. Also, in terms of horror, we've never seen anything like this. Walking in the dark is the pinnacle of replayability.
"The Fucker hates light", good name for a monster, i like it
Love the detail of the animations. Minimal ambient sound is always the best choice for horror. Looking good.
Feels like a perfect mix between Penumbra and Amnesia. That same strange feeling that I can't describe, especially in Penumbra. I just can't wait.
I’m so glad they brought in combat, i was worried how it’ll effect the atmosphere but it fits in fine here.
Frictional never disappoints 😍
This is what we missed from you, Frictional Games, now we are talkin! This looks amazing, can't wait to play!
Been a fan ever since Penumbra Overture. Glad to know you're still putting stuff out there.
I'm glad Devs are willing to take more risks when it comes to horror.
Having something to fight back but not kill everything is a nice change of pace in the stealth horror genre.
Alien isolation did this with the flamethrower, it was fun and added depth
@@DollaSignD I know which reminds me I must play it!
I heard it has a really unique a.i too.
Rebirth was just ass tbh
Rebirth is a TERRIBLE game.
@@barskabdagl7701 Ik one of the Penumbra games you in a mine, escape and find out you're in the Arctic (or is it Antarctica?). Another was you're in some Aztec/Mayan ruins that you escape (though some form of similar ruins)
@@nekotranslates Yeah, I think it was a temple that was built for a god called Tuurngait or something. But the story of the third Penumbra game was really hard to understand for me.
@@nekotranslates It was Greenland
@@lusiek9 Yeah... Arctic pretty much. Like 6 countries are in Arctic inc. Greenland.
This is a marvellous return to form for Amnesia! I love some of these ideas, the grime and atmosphere, the World War I bunker setting, the dynamo light.
I choose to believe that "the fucker" is the canon name for the monster.
Seems like it takes place in one whole bunker, and its kind of a survival situation, gathering resources and bringing them back to base while trying to progress. Interesting twist, and looks a lot better than rebirth for sure
I hate playing horror games but frictional games never disappoint
I played more than 150 horror games and the first 1 mins of the clip it gave me chills in my spine , pure horror gg frictionalgames.
pretty scary game, im believe that it will be a masterpiece
It looks incredible. Atmosphere and sound design are top notice. Having to make on the fly decisions with what you have. This is looking to be a phenomenal survival horror experience.
Seeing two eyes in the distance when looking around with the flashlight would be quite scary, especially if those two eyes suddenly started moving and the "monster" came out of the darkness to get you.
I’m super excited for this game! Super pumped. The graphics look amazing, the noises you hear give you an unsettling feeling in your gut. The monster noises sounds just right. Cannot wait for this game!
I got a Penumbra feeling with this Amnesia game. I feel like the screen does not do enough "effects" I want that good old distorsion in the screen.
I am glad new amnesia is coming out at the day of my birthday
looks very interesting. there is always something special about Frictional Games projects. Creepy atmosphere, notes that can be sorted into quotes, all this attracts me and makes me follow and buy their games again and again. Very inspiring
Finally a REAL Amnesia game! :D
Let's hope there won't be any last minute changes to make the main character a pregnant french woman with a mandatory belly-check every 3 seconds again
@@StudioGoldsmith 🤣🤣🤣
Amnesia the dark descent, one of the best horror games that genuinely scared me, went down the drain with subpar sequels.
