A lot of memories here.
The games changed in 40 years.
Not so free flowing as it is today.
No so big on 5th tackle kicks
Wingers built like tanks that can dive and place a ball with pin point accuracy..
Imagine if they had the punch ups like they did then, half the players would of been in the sin bin or sent off.
I am glad .that kind of violence is not tolerated or common now in these big clashes.
The beginning of the reign of
King Wally
Love or hate him he was a brilliant player for his time along with a few others in that squad.
That’s what you call rugby league. Real men!!! Even the referee was tough…
Aye, bloody good stuff eh!
What a delight Mike Gibson was. Such an experienced and knowledgeable sport expert.
Truly, he was always making informed and knowledgeable comments, great work ethic and greatly remembered too.
Certainly a step down in quality from the 82 & 86 teams. Although the To&Froms were better as well with Schofield & Hanley beginning their careers.
Yes that 82 team were the best i saw over here. Then to see the likes of sterlo, kenny, muggleton meninga and grothe playing here was great to watch
this is wally at 24 lol
Yeah, but he was quick eh!
Briton David Hobbs was banned for three games and fined $1000 for his elbow on Greg Conescu in the dying seconds. Hobbs sent one of Conescu’s front teeth flying. However the Aussie declared himself available for all footie after visiting a dentist three days later.
They’re tough buggers but seriously the standard is like U16’s today. And all those players throwing punches with impunity .. only thing worse was Jack Gibson’s commentary
Hardly serious.
Go tha Aussies 🇦🇺
Majority Queensland Australian team. QLD must have won the State of Origin that year.
That always win
Commentator calling an elbow to the face a tackle??? WTF!!!
Have you found a safe space yet?
Shades of Les Boyd.

Mate, do you realize how culturally and historically important your channel is? As Australia devolves into a "woke" society of sooks, people like me can come here and relive the "god old days". Memories of an age when hard men played hard games and women were actual real, biological, women. It wasn't perfect, but it was definitely sane, natural and made sense. So, thanks heaps, brutha. 😃
Rugby Union & League was a game that tested the fabric of a man’s masculinity. I’m not a fan of cheap shots but how that player overcomes cheating is the element that brings fans to the game.
Cry more Incel, Albo is your PM. 🤣😅 You fascists will always lose.
You sound worse than the woke mob I'ncel, stop sooking. 🤣
What's 'woke'?

Australia was referring to Britain as "Great Britain" in 1984? That's strange.
Why not that is what my era named them.
@@jacktattisWell, in 1984 Britain was hardly a superpower, and had long since lost it's empire. That term isn't used today. So when do you think "Great" should've been discarded? I'm just surprised is all that it was still in use so late.. maybe only in rugby terminology? And I'm not woke and love my pommy mates - rule Britannia.
@@darrenmonks4532 It only referred to the team not the country
And why change it, it had been that name since forever .
It’s been called Great Britain since England and Scotland joined in about 1700. Later GB and Ireland. Now GB and Northern Ireland, as in United Kingdom of. Doesn’t mean it’s great, just a sense of bigger than just England, I.e the island of England, Wales and Scotland.
What the Hell No ST jOHNS PEOPLE THERE i
do hanley and drummond look similar lol ?
No
Real men not the shit we have today him he r she them this world gone to shit
The WEAKEST SIDE AUSTRALIA had ever Fielded to this date.To many political representatives from Queensland. The high Penalty count was because the Queensland players not fit enough to get back on side at the play the ball.
Let me guess, you’re from NSW? Qld were 2-0 up in state of origin and outplaying the roaches. They were fit enough to beat NSW.
Mate I am a blues man and has lived in Queensland for 43 years They were just that better NSW lost their way.
.... you just had to bring politics into it didn't you....🥱
Rugby League is a
Bunch of Rock Chopper's
Entertaining
Australia.
Rugby for simple people.
nO rUGBY FOR THE REAL TOUGH MEN OF aUSTRALIA
Union for those that could'nt make the grade in League.
International Rugby League just doesn't exist anymore...............the dam game is dying.
Yes the Franchises has killed it When they took over Rugby League the game went downhill
I'd say it's been dead a loooooong time, this modern version is not it's predecessor.
@@glensmillie5101 You mean successor
@@jacktattis I do, did, thanks for the correction!
