- FAILED IN WWE | Great Wrestlers that Flopped!
There are a lot of great wrestlers out there and, due to the nature of WWE being the only major league in North America for so many years, most of those wrestlers at some point passed through the doors of their promotion. But that doesn't mean all of these performers succeeded. No, for one reason or another, some failed to make the impact they should have. But what are the greatest examples of this? Well, that’s exactly what we’re going to be looking at today.

You forgot about nakamura
Wrestlers AEW failed
That woukd be a long list
*WWE did Sting so dirty. It’s been 8 years and I’m still crossed for the way of how the company misstreated Sting just because he was a WCW legend. They made his entire run all about WWE vs. WCW which makes no sense considering the fact that WCW at that point had been dead for like 14 pissing years so what’s the point of having Sting to fight for something that’s already dead? Plus Triple H beating at ‘Mania 31 still infuriates me to this day as well. I feel like it was honestly best if Sting had never signed with WWE in the first place.*
I’m pissed Rollins put Sting into early retirement
I agree. I know him in wcw but I was watching more WWF back then but I really started watching him in TNA. Were he did a damn good job bringing TNA up for a few years. I think he should have just retired or waited 5 or 6 yrs for AEW to start but yeah they messed up his legacy a lil bit but good AEW came along..
Sting’s WWE career amounts to approximately 5% of his overall in ring career. It’s not an upset. Sting signed with Vince late in the game simply for the HOF credit.
He’s said that after wcw Vince offered him a contract many times over the years but he declined.
Had he joined any earlier Vince would have buried him anyway due to his prejudice towards wcw talent. After a successful run in TNA he had nothing left to prove.
If anything going to the wwe was merely Dan service. He was way past his prime at that point. Therefore any chance of creating genuine magic in the ring was already gone.
I’m mad we have never gotten Sting vs the Undertaker
@@MetalMadness_00he’s literally still wrestling
Headline should be "FAILED BY WWE"
Right?? Like more then half these Wrestlers or almost all were just setup for failure by Vince.
Yes!!
Facts!!!
Sting not wanting to sign with WWF/E for all those years makes sense after he finally did. He knew what would happen but ended up giving the fans what they wanted... and we were all just as disappointed as he knew we'd be.
FACTS.
He was scheduled to win the title but accidentally got injured so they had to change that to prevent him getting injured further.
He wanted to come to WWE earlier, but he just didn’t want to leave TNA on bad terms so he stayed with the company until 2014
I don't know what made WWE think we wanted to see Sting vs. Triple H. We wanted Sting vs. The Undertaker
Also, if they were to have anyone beat the streak, it could've been Sting instead of Brock.
@@kith1235Especially with what's going on recently
Having the NWO do a run in to help Sting during the match shows how clueless Vince was/is.
FACTS.
The Undertaker has said he had no interest in working with Sting… Triple H wanted it because Sting was a hero of his
Sting was done dirty
Really dirty
Definitely really ruined his career he's doing better in AEW.
That was all Vince McMahon. Triple H would have had no problem taking a WrestleMania loss. In fact Triple H has the most WrestleMania losses in history.

ALL FACTS NO CAP.
Malenko was every bit the wrestler Danielson and Bret was. Vince was too busy with his extra curricular activities to notice what he had.
Awesome Kong was too far ahead of her time
None of them failed or flopped. Vince was just known to sign former WCW, ECW and TNA top guys just to bury them and make it look like he had no competition to begin with and just to be petty because they made him have to put in more effort.
Same happened with Black and Gold NXT. EC3, Neville, T-Bar, Enzo and Cass.... list goes on and on.
they would all disagree

@@DemonArshaneliminate Enzo and cass it’s their own fault they failed. Shitty attitudes at the time

You said Awesome Kong announced she was pregnant in 2021 but that was 2011 dude
I was going to say something but I wanted to scroll to see who beat me to it. Good catch.
Yeah I caught that too
@MrMusick84 , yeah I love his channel but he's often wrong on alot of things he says in his videos. In fact, some of these wrestling UA-cam channels be wrong about alot of things. They'll have you think they're experts in wrestling when in fact, they're not. Sometimes we wrestling fans know more than them.
Wrestling Bios and Kim Justice road seems to be the only channels that actually do extensive research into their subjects.
I was disappointed when Kharma/Awesome Kong didn’t work out in WWE and I didn’t even know it was because of real life. All she did was intimidate the women’s division (and probably some men too) with her dominance and though it was short lived, I still think it was awesome.
I would have loved to see her go up against Nia Jax
She told everyone in the ring, live on Raw that she was pregnant at that time.
@@xCypresThe tragedy was that, after being fired from WWE, she lost the baby and had mental health problems after it.
Well in all fairness Malenko did develop a little bit of a personality with that ladies man gimmick while he was feuding with Lita and the Hardys
sting didnt join wwe because he didnt want to get treated badly and then joins and gets treated badly
A Wrestlemania match, a title match and a Hall of Fame induction are being treated badly? And plus getting paid for all three things and getting WWE video game and merch type money… I hope I get treated that badly
@@andrewft31sting fanboys just want him to envision him as the pre nwo sting even as he hits 60. Anything less is doing him dirty.
NJPW Lance Archer is a different beast, His tag team with Davey Boy Smith as Killer Elite Squad was pretty damm good and the Murder Hawk Monster character in G1 Climax back few years ago showed good he was.

To call Sting a WWE failure is total BS. The man suffered a cervical spinal fracture resulting in spinal stenosis. It was only after Adam Copeland took that fall on that trail that people really thought it would be possible. Even the hardcore AEW fans didn't expect him to take bumps when he showed up.
Calling Awesome Kong a failure is stretch as well. She got one match because of her pregnancy. This was also long before the revolution, so that time off was the kiss of death.
I went to 3 ECW events that were not taped, live, or PPV. 2 of those events had Jerry Lynn vs RVD in matches that easily rivaled their PPV matches. And the other match was a 3 way between Lynn, Tajiri, and Guido w/Sal which was the 3rd to last match and worth the price of admission alone. Lynn made every match great.
Buff was a solid mid carder at best. It was unfair to put him in the showcasing role for WCW, when most of there upper card talent were sitting out their contracts at home. Vince just wanted to bury WCW again. They should have had the ex WCW stars like Benoit, Jericho and Guerrero defect and take the reigns on the show.
Definitely agree with this whole list, all of this talent and the failure to capitalize on it.
Not failed, Vince wouldn’t let them succeed
Its wild that both the AEW and WWE clips used for Monet's in-ring action featured my friend as the ref. I'm so proud of my brother.
By 2001 so many wrestlers were either released from WWE or out with an injury. The roster was significantly less than from the years 1999/2000. So I think they could've booked Dean Makenko better.
Perry Saturn was absolutely on par with the rest of the Radicals
Jerry Lynn joined WWF before the invasion and had no involvement with the angle at all other than announcers saying he'd decided not to join the WCW/ECW side.
Good old Dean Milenko...whoever that was? I remember Dean Malenko though. He was really great wrestling wise.
He knows 1000 wrestling moves😂
I will die on this hill forever, Sting should’ve beaten Triple H at WrestleMania 31. No one would’ve thought that one of the top guys in WCW would come over to WWE and the logical thing to do is to have HHH put over Sting but it was not the creative decision 🤦♂️
That was purely a Vince McMahon decision. Triple H has the most losses in WrestleMania history so he would have had no problem losing to Sting.
Sting going over Triple H is simple wish fulfilment. He didn’t need the win. He was already over with the fans, past his prime athletically, already a former world champion (WCW,NWA), one of the most recognisable and accomplished pro-wrestlers in the industry.
Also one of few that made his name outside of the wwe, a unique distinction that only few can claim. The real disappointment is not facing the undertaker during the naughties. If he had signed after wcw, it could have been the biggest dream match ever. Both men in their prime. Sting’s run in the wwe at the time that it happened was merely fan service. He came to get his HOF credit that’s it.
Velocity and Heat were before the Invasion angle..
Some of them just weren't ready yet
Buff Bagwell, while he was very popular in WCW, he also pretty much failed in WCW, too. Apart for his numerous tag team title runs with numerous partners, most of which didn't last longer than few weeks at most, his WCW run was a total flop.
I have to say I love how slick this channel transitions from person to person in their lists. I love it!
I remember David Hart Smith in a Smackdown show in London.
Even in London, the crowd was quiet. The only pop was when he used his father’s finisher.
I remember a Powerslam comment at the time: “Even in his home country, he’s not over.”
They are often quiet in England.
I remember one night on Smackdown, in England, they had the main event be Chris Jericho v The Undertaker.
At this point, both men had been in the company for ten years, yet never had a one-on-one match.
Yet you could hear a pin drop for this historical first time ever match.
@@dhenderson1810 On that night, even Jillian Hall was over in comparison with David Hart.
How wwe didn't see the potential of miz, maryse, johnny and taya working together baffles me. It was a perfect set up considering the history with miz and Morrison. Adding the wives would have been AWESOME 🤣😂🤣
Dean Malenko could've worked as a proto-Gunther. Someone who treats pro wrestling as equal of a sport as any other. Someone who considers the mat to be sacred. Could've been the Gunther of maybe the Cruiserweights or IC divisions.
What about "Dr Death" Steve Williams?
WWE had wanted him for years but his WWE run was short and uneventful.
He had one memorable match, a Hardcore match against Hardcore Holly when Williams was managed by the Bells Palsy suffering then heel commentator Jim Ross.
But Williams was old and out of shape at the time he joined WWE.
The WWE planned to push him big by having him win the "Brawl For All", but since it was unscripted, he was unceremoniously beaten by Bart Gunn, stalling his push.
Since Williuams got humbled, Vince lost interest in pushing him anymore.
"Dr Death" had a storied career before this, in the territories, as the last ever UWF champion and as part of the Varsity Club in WCW. But his WWF run was a failure.
Even if WWE wanted to do something with Terry Gordy, it was impossible, as he came to WWE less than an year after suffering a massive stroke which almost claimed his life and left permanent consequences on his brain which haunted him for the rest of his life. Not to mention that the only reason WWE hired him in the first place was as favor to Michael Hayes, who wanted to help Gordy get a job and make a living. Years later, Hayes said that he regretted talking Gordy into signing with WWE under such circumstances and that he wish he never did it.
Sting didn't fail. He got buried.
This should just be a mini-documentary about Sting. How many times did he reinvent himself only to be beaten clean by HHH? And ppl wonder why no one watched wrestling from 2010-2020
Yeah I fell out of wrestling in 2006, but these videos just draw me back in. I remember being so disappointed about Jerry Lynn. ECW was THE Hardcore Underground wrestling promotion that you had to watch behind your parent's backs, and THAT is saying something because WWF/WWE was not PG-friendly either. I was into ECW in a different way than WWF, so I wanted Jerry Lynn to succeed just like RVD did in WWE. I remember even being disappointed that in Smackdown Just Bring It, his finisher was a typical tornado ddt and not the cradle piledriver he did in ECW. Lynn's matches with RVD are what I point to when people say that ECW was not "Real" wrestling (in particular to haters like Jim Cornette). It did have a lot of pure hardcore uncoordinated nonsense, but Pauly's ECW was certainly great wrestling.
I think WWE are copping unfair heat about Kharma.
Kharma discovered she was pregnant soon after her first match.
WWE gave her time off to have the baby (they couldn't really have her wrestle pregnant).
However, Kharma lost the baby. One story is that she was three months pregnant before she even knew, but because of her weight, it wasn't obvious, and that she wrestled while pregnant but unaware of it.
Her finisher is a splash and there was a question that this might have played a part in her miscarrying.
As a result, Kharma felt tremendous guilt that she may have inadvertently killed her own baby, a baby she had always wanted, and it caused her to have a mental health breakdown and she needed therapy.
By this stage, Kharma was on WWE's books for two years and hadn't wrestled. Plus she needed time away from wrestling to get her life back in order after a tremendous tragedy.
WWE couldn't hold her spot open forever and moved on. But they weren't unfair or ruthless like the video made out. It was just bad timing.
What's up with those misspelled names like Karma (Kharma) or Dean Milenko (Dean Malenko)?
VinnieMac had the exact same problem with Sting WCW had with Bret Hart.
Big name. Didn’t know what to do with him.
Should have planned all this out before grabbing one of the biggest names in wrestling history.
Or.
VinnieMac wanted to ruin Stings career. As history shows. VinnieMac was very good at ruining other wrestlers careers.
The late great Bray Wyatt being one of ‘em.
These people might’ve been WWE failure, but in other companies, they were some of the biggest successes
That is because those companies knew how to properly book the wrestlers.
@@zemox2534 exactly
Vince and hhh buried sting smh
Dean 'Milenko'. Jericho must've edited this. Surprised he didn't put 'Stinko Milenko'.
i wouldnt say sting failed thats wwe's fault
Thanx for these videos plz keep it going 💪💪💪
I personally believe that having Sting job to Triple H was in Vince’s mind the final scoop of dirt on the grave of WCW that eluded him for so long. Vince is THAT petty.
My Dream Wrestlemania back then was 2 out of 3 falls/3 Stages of Hell between Undertaker and Sting. I mean of course, Undertaker should still be the winner but atleast we could also witness Sting pinning/submitting Undertaker during the 2nd match.
Imagine if Karma was a member of The Undertaker's Ministry Of Darkness faction
That would have been awesome!
I wondered that myself. But the women's division wouldn't have presented a challenge back then outside of Lita, Jacqueline, & eventually Trish
Should've been sting vs the undertaker at mania icon vs icon in a old school hell in a cell
I think Sting's run could have turned out fine if it weren't for the neck injury. That cut it significantly short though, so we got some cool run-ins and two underwhelming matches.
Kharma was also another series of unfortunate circumstances
With sting you look how booker t was booked, ddp , scott stiener, nwo ,kevin nash where booked they where all booked bad . Goldberg at least got a good run. He was pretty dominant. I heard the reason why sting lost to triple h is that triple h said he wanted to go over because it was suppose to be triple h vs rock at the next wrestlemania abd triple h didnt want to go into that fued with a loss already. Rock and rosey where at that wm.
Though it’s not a big deal to me but I think wwe should have done more than just the buff and booker match. I feel like they should’ve done it for at least a month if not longer. But doing it once is odd. You’d think they’d try to learn and do better or at least keep trying to see what happens with other people to see if it was just a bad night with book and buff.
Just have found it odd that they didn’t keep at it. To get more reactions from other matches and such but oh well.
Sting was not a failure. If WWE were smart, they should have done Sting vs Taker. It was egos vs business at the end and they not only did sting dirty, but the business itself as well.
Dean and Perry Saturn flopped so hard
Awesome Kong as well
because WWE is run by morons who have no respect for icons, legends. All because they're from the rival companies. Yet WWE owns a % of both WCW and ECW, they gave Flair , Booker, Goldberg , Eddy, he who won't be named, the best runs. Had HHH understood the importance of Sting, their match would have been a lot better. and Sting would have had a grander run.
The relationship between dh smith and wwe baffles me. They've brought him back a couple times yet done nothing of note with him, especially this most recent time where im not even sure if he was on tv or not. Now he's mlw tag team champion along with Tom Lawlor so he's not doing too bad.
I wouldnt call stigs run a failure. Who cares he didnt win. He still performed at a high level, I loved his match with HHH. He still had has the intensity we all loved about him. His match with Seth was awesome. Way better than it should have been. He didnt get the W, but he showed that at 56 he can still light up an arena. He was over massive with the WWE crowd. It sucks he lost but I still enjoyed seeing him do his thing.

I thought Terry Gordy's Executioner was the Juggernut.
Certainly Vince didn't have any idea what to do with Sabu.
It's untrue that little guys were under utilized in WWE, just look at Benoit and Eddie G. for example.
0:28 is wrong, Robocop also has never signed with WWE.
Why would Sting even co-sign on that BS.
Loved Terry Gordy
I think Karma starred in the Netflix show GLOW as a wrestler....
Can we talk about how Sandman lasted in wwe way longer than anyone in their right mind thought he would?
Wasn't another problem that Kharma was signed when WWE was still in the Divas "Bra-&-Panties", Era?
Most ouf those girls weren't wrestlers but models, so that wouldn't help Kharma.
Kharma would have been better fighting Becky Lynch or Charlotte than Kelly Kelly or Candice Michelle.
Man I’m still pissed at that Sting Triple H mania match
Jerry Lynn was very good. I don’t even remember Sabu in WWF.
He had a Hardcore Lumberjack match against John Cena one time.
Yes I have to agree that this pretty much Vince's fault that these guys flopped.
I wouldn't say Sting flopped more he was treated and booked like shit by WWE
“Hell,”
They made DDP look like Robert Englund/Freddy Krueger
Btw Drew Macintyre's 1st run flopped badly as well.
I'm still angry about how WWE did Sting! 😠 😡
Dean Malenko should be a trainer at the PC.
The Hart Dynasty were a fantastic tag team and its sickening that they broke them up.
I wish Sting would’ve gone to the WWE in 2001 like the rest of the guys
Do you know what’s crazy too buff Bagwell wasn’t a bad wrestler just put in a bad spot and sting been was supposed to come to WWE/F since 2000 or 2001. He didn’t sign for whatever reason and he could’ve came around 2004 or 05 but he just didn’t wanna leave TNA on bad terms and when they really need him with their face just like AJ
The Hart Dynasty could’ve been so much more😢
And I remember when Kharma had to stop bc she got pregnant
Too bad Lynn was gone from WWE before Rey Mysterio joined, as they could have had some banger matches.
Even Triple H wanted to book Sting vs Undertaker, but Vince was stubborn and had long since lost touch with what fans really wanted/needed.
And to add insult to injury he had Seth Rollins putting into retirement
Sting vs Taker would have been ill-fated. Both men were past their prime, the streak was already broken, the match wouldn’t live up to expectations. Sting needed to sign with the wwe during the naughties, whilst both men were in their prime. 2015 was too late. It was a blessing in disguise that the match didn’t happen.
@@master-of-mind5881 Still, past their prime, both veterans would have put on a good match and hide their limitations.

Man i felt cesaro was also a wrestler wwe didn't truly use to his full potential
Sting saw how DDP and Goldberg were treated, ddp and Goldberg were buried after the invasion, after sting had a chance to go to wwe.
DDP was definitely buried but how the hell was Goldberg buried? lol. He won the world title in 03. He beat the rock in his first match. He only had 1 or 2 losses in the year he was there. The only thing they didn’t do right with Goldberg is they tried to make him do 20-30 min main event matches which he obviously couldn’t do. A lesson they did learn in his second stint

Terry Gordy's I think needs a big asterisk on his run in WWE
He was three year removed from a drug induced coma that caused brain damaged that forced him to have to relearn how to wrestle and even talk so his skills were hampered by more than just age.
And in fairness to WWE, reportedly, they gave him the mask to protect his identity as to protect the legends reputation on TV if his skills weren't as good as they once were which they sadly weren't.
I also heard he talked too much round managers and higher ups
