I think these are among the best types of siren for emergency vehicles. I live in Italy, and here we have only two-tone siren, an only default siren. So when a police car, an ambulance or a fire truck come close to a traffic jam, they can't use any other type of siren to tell them to give away. In Great Britain, Portugal, Spain and countries of Eastern Europe like Russia, Hungary, Czech Republic, they can change the siren from wail to yelp to tell the cars in from that they've to give away. So I think this type of siren is one of the best and most useful.

the fog lights are also used as the lights when sirens are active, like how the ambulance uses the horn to turn on the siren

the era where sirens became the same type and pretty standard, Prior Met had some great variety of vehicles and cool sirens
It's going to be either a Redtronic EM500AS siren or a Sterling SS2H4. The siren tone is two-tone/HiLo.
Both the Redtronic and Sterling have almost identical two-tone siren pitches/tempo
They are the Diplomatic Protection Group, the name explains itself.

They are yes, but not in use anymore since 2014 I think
Also the Brithish Highway code states that the red flashing lights shall only be used when the vehicle is stopped (At the side of the road etc) so the officer must have left them on or hit them on by mistake.

It appears the Brits have both the American and European sirens. Wasn’t expecting British police to utilize a German car in their fleet.
People are commenting that the DPG vehicles are ARV's, yet they don't have the yellow stickers in the windows, do DPG not need them?

What if they have a orange asterisk and no yellow circles? I believed a orange asterisk, or any asterisk, meant they were ARVs? Or have I got it wrong? :P
CobraEmergencyVideos That is where im confused, ARV's do have asterisks but they should have the yellow circles too, and although some counties don't, London normally do.
Yeah I'm confused too. Maybe it's ex-ARV and they forgot to change the asterisk, but just ripped off the yellow circles?

Very nice! the first van was City of London police.
Police and all emergency vehicles in the UK use blue lights only, it is under the highway code to respond to blue flashing lights, they never used red lights unless they are parked up and just to warn people from behind they have stopped.

Blau mit gelben Kacheln ist soweit ich weiß die City of London Police und die Metropolitan Police ist für greater London zuständig. Greater London und die City of London haben sogar 2 verschiedene Bürgermeister. ;)

+Nathan Bayne Do you mean this statue?: upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/e/e6/Trafalgar_Square-2.jpg. You can only climb up to the lions, if you climb any further it is illegal. You can't get a 360 view from the lions as the main part of the statue (the column in the middle) blocks that.
Ja, rot ist eine besondere Schutz-Polizei, extra für Diplomaten. Silber ist die "Metropolpolizei" und mit Blauen und Gelben Kacheln ist die normale Polizei...

The red car is the diplomatic protection group that protects embassies and some foreign dignitaries

They are supposed to be used to indicate that the emergency vehicle is stopped.

Armed response, they go to incidents that may require armed police but don't need a full team of SO19 (SWAT)
Diplomatic Protection Group. The first comment is wrong!
The red vehicles are what used to be Diplomatic Protection cars but, although not yet been repainted, they now form part of the MP ARV's vehicles and are not limited to Diplomatice Protection duties. I'm sure they will all be replaced, as some are quite old, or repainted to standard MP colours. (I'm retired MP). THE DPG were first formed c. 1972/3, from my memory, & they used red Austin Princess cars! Awful vehicles :-(

The red cars are from the Diplomatic Protection Group division. Their duty is to protect diplomats, politicians (for example the British Prime Minister) and also other VIPs. They can be found in Downing Street (where the Prime Minister lives) and near the embassies.

When the blue lights are activated the front light bulbs flash too, its just extra lighting he isn't switching them on and off himself.

Nein, völliger Unsinn. Die Sirenen die in den USA benutzt werden unterscheiden sich deutlich von den britischen.
Was einem jetzt besser gefällt ist dahingestellt. In Deutschland passt jedenfalls die Zweitonfolge (=Martinshorn) besser, in den USA halt Wail, Yelp, Q, Airhorn und Co. :-)

US and Britain emergency vehicle sirens are better than Dutch ambulances and French fire trucks.
