You make pretty stuff, subscribed. I like your differing methods from other UA-camrs, the singular, aggressive drybrush for example. Check out clump moss in packs at floral sections of a craft store, they make lovely bushes and foliage fill on trees. Looking forward to seeing your channel grow!
Thank you so much for that! It really does mean the world to me! Funny you mention the floral stuff at the craft store. I just picked up more clump moss that I buy in bags. The tree at the end of this video is made using clump moss, and then covered in glue and my foliage flock :) I hope to make be able to grow and make even more videos as time progresses and hopefully some of my videos help to inspire fellow crafters and gamers make some fantastic scenes!
Dude you should join us at the tabletop dungeoneers. Just subbed love crafting terrain videos. Your channel is criminally undersubbed. It will grow though your videos are great.
Ideally you want it to be black because it serves two purposes. It shows you where the paint is thinner and you need another coat of Mod Podge (Pink foam for example you'll still see a hint of pink through the black letting you know to coat it at least once more)---it also serves as a quick undercoat and the Mod Podge helps harden and firm up the foam so it doesn't get damaged as easily during handling and storage. I recommend checking out walmart or a craft shop where you can actually buy CHEAP big bottles of black acrylic for between 2-5 dollars (Do this for white paint too! It's super cheap and lasts a long time!)
How long has it been drying for? It shouldn't feel spongy really, it should be hardened (Just like Elmers glue when it dries) and should not really be chipping. What sort of glue are you using with your black paint? I would recommend using either a craft paint like those Apple Barrel cheap craft paints, or if you can find them, a "primer" type of acrylic. But together, I've not experienced any chipping or soft/spongy texture after it dried over-night.
So this is not exactly related to the terrain, but I'm curious what type of camera and camera setup did you use to record this video? It is good quality and I like the steady above angle and it shows so clearly everything you did. Now on to the terrain, the finished product is amazing. I didn't know how much time actually had to go in to make the finished product, and it gives me a better appreciation. Thanks for the video!
Funny enough mostly everything is just done with an iPhone X mounted on a downward rigged tripod and pole. I'm working on moving things over to a better setup using one of my DSLRs for higher quality...but the iPhone actually does a pretty decent job for this sort of application. Thanks for the comments and for checking out the video! :D
Fantastic tutorial mate, I will have to try this in the future

Awesome! Happy you found it helpful! And hopefully the new terrain makes for an awesome session of gaming!!

Does the Mod Podge need to be black? Im wanting to start painting terrain but I don't have much black paint

Is it normal for the mod podge method to still be spongy and able to chip off?
