Similar experience in paying high postage to Canada, although in my situation it was 2 or 3 years ago. After paying for postage my parcel was sent via UPS routed through Canada then to USA. Upon entry back into Canada from US I then incurred more fees for Customs, UPS fee etc. I only order from the lilies of Perry, and Northstar Miniatures and never had a problem since. No more custom dues either.

I had that email this morning too. Not sure why Australia & NZ gets lumped in with their new policy, surely we don't have the same issues that they have when dealing with the EU or US? Prices must have gone up at Royal Mail. I wish we had more home grown manufacturers to buy from, but we only have a couple & their ranges are limited. I've purchased a lot of stuff from the UK over the years because its been cheaper than trying to source it in Australia, even with the postage. Things certainly have changed, I guess much of it is due to covid.

Prices went up hugely this year to ship to everywhere. Australia the prices are REALLY high to ship from the UK. It's because of covid and the fact that people are not using planes as much hence the prices must go up. Maybe they will go down when things calm down but the prices are incredibly high, see for yourself. Even sending a magazine via post will knock a huge chuck out of your wallet.

I live in the UK and I buy a reasonable amount of Warlord Games stuff, mostly Bolt Action but also some other genres and boxed set stuff. But I rarely buy from Warlord themselves - because of their pricing and their flat rate shipping.
In the UK to get free shipping we have to spend £50 otherwise postage is a flat rate of £5. Now that’s okay, when you start off building your army spending £50 is no problem. But during building you realise little things you might want to add (some decals for example). So you put the decals in the basket, these are smaller and lighter than a piece of paper, they cost £2 but the postage is £5 - so I don’t buy. The other reason is that there are UK sellers that offer Warlord games products for 20% discount, the free shipping threshold is low (£20) they sell loads of other makes so it is much easier to build up a bigger order and even if you don’t qualify for free shipping their shipping costs reflect the size and weight of what you are buying - so it is really hard to justify buying from Warlord. And their shipping is so slow compared with the competition - I get the metal figures that may have to be cast on demand, but I ordered an in-stock book recently, it took them over a week to dispatch (it’s not a big deal but stands out as odd in todays age). They seem to be quite desperate too - recently I got a mysterious email saying that my purchases had earned me a reward of £5 store credit - I’ve barely bought anything from them, and certainly not for over a year - so this seems to be some veiled attempt to give people a £5 credit and dress it up as some VIP reward. They also sent me a 10% of anything code but I doubt I will use it because I can get 20% off as standard elsewhere. I like their stuff, I buy a fair amount of it, but because of their weird pricing and shipping policies I buy very little directly from them.

I’m with you mate. I’m outraged with the postage costs. I won’t be buying from them again. The offset of a free plastic box is a joke. They will give you the choice of a box you won’t ever need from a selection of the stuff they can’t sell. Don’t forget they charge us VAT too. War and Peace Games is their Australian distributer if you get desperate.

cause plastic is lighter. The cost to ship goods to Australia has sky rocketed due to less air travel. You will CRY looking at how much it costs to send a mere magazine to Australia from the UK. Also due to Australian customs you really have to track our shipments which adds and adds to the cost.

@@scepteredisle I’m still buying figures from reputable manufacturers in the UK. I will always pay the true price of postage but I decline to be raped.

That's not good m8, there are lots of stores in the UK that's have discount on many wargames items, do you have any there ? It's a pity you didn't know some one in the UK that could post it order cheaper for you. 😎
