I've been watching this channel since pretty much the beginning, and this video is definitely your masterpiece. I played it with the song really loud, immersed in the soundscape complemented by your visuals and with the commentary just cutting through the mix when the song gets quieter. It was a great experience.

Seriously though, I have been effusive in my praise before but damn Poly, this is simply a phenomenal experience. You are so eloquent and poetic in your essays and I can't help but come away with a new appreciation of the song/artist because of how insightfully you've talked about them, even loving them before I walk away loving them even more. One of my favourite and best content producers on UA-cam.

okay but the sync is perfectly timed. i've heard "voodoo chile" countless times so i was so shocked how much the video synced up while playing it. i almost forgot i was playing it through spotify, not through this video. like when the lyrics in the video synced up it was wild, but when you mentioned the guitar solos and instrumental breaks etc at the exact time it was wild

The modern musician that, for me, captures Hendrix's vibe the most is Fantastic Negrito. The man is legendary. He had a coma and partially lost the movement of a hand (that he now calls it "The claw"). And his song "Lost in a Crowd" shows how he felt after recovering from the coma. Definitely recommend everyone to give him a listen

    i mean just... Woah
like... every single moment in my life brought me to being recommended to this video
and since fortunately for me i own a copy of this truly Historic album, playing on my speakers
The way your video synchronized the lyrics popping up with Voodo Chile playing on the CD
The way you mentioned the boundless talent of each musician just before they showed what they were all about with their instruments
This was not an ordinary youtube video, this was an experience!
Yeah so you had to remove the music from your video, but you still went on so as to not displease your audience. And look what the audience gained! Your video oozed authenticity and creativity to the point where it was more than just a visual representation of information. It was a whole experience man!
When one door closed, another opened.
Thank you for this experience Polyphonic, you have earned yourself a subscriber yet you are deserving of thousands more!

holy shit dude this might be the way forward for music analysis on this platform: _listen-alongs_ where the viewer can play the song on their own terms alongside the video, tweaking the relative volumes of each audio track if necessary, playing the song on whatever medium they prefer, free from UA-cam compression or copyright-dodging edits that chop up the music out of necessity.
magnificent solution to the problem, and honestly I might personally prefer it to having the song embedded into the video

I can't say I was a fan of Hendrix until now (I always enjoyed the classics like "Purple Haze" and loved Steve Ray Vaughan's cover of "Voodoo Chile-Slight Return"). I'm far from the best guitar player, especially when you put me next to literally the best but that's the best I've ever played, just totally forgot about scales and boxes, (Cheated looking up the key so I could get in the right area to start) and was just totally part of it. That shit was time travel man, my eyes were closed and I wasn't here. • @kkjhn41
      @kkjhn41 3 роки тому

It was take 8 of Voodoo Child (slight return) that was used on the album. 8 was the last take recorded. ABC was there filming for a mini documentary that never aired but Jimi and the band didn't just bust out the song and nail it in one take, it was a very deliberate process of rehearsing and building to the final recorded take. JImi would drive those around him crazy with the number of takes he would record as he was never satisfied and always thought he could do better with "one more take". Even Eddie Kramer has said having so many takes made it hard to single out just one as "the" one because in his opinion each one was a masterpiece. JImi's obsession with doing so many takes was what drove Noel Redding out of the studio and across the street to a bar during the recording of Electric Ladyland and eventually out of the band. Which is why Jimi plays bass on some Electric Ladyland tracks. It was the number of takes and the hangers on that Jimi had in the studio that caused Chas Chandler to quit part way through recording as well. Eddie Kramer's idea to turn a night club Jimi wanted to buy to jam in after hours into a first class studio for Jimi to record in was the perfect solution.

Most of the time you may see Hendrix playing a Fuzz Face in a video, it's not a Fuzz Face. Roger Mayer talked Hendrix into buying 20 Fuzz Faces at a time so Roger could gut them and put his own circuits inside, which only started with modified Fuzz Face circuits. They purchased Fuzz Faces because it was the cheapest way to procure a pedal enclosure at the time.

Very clever workaround and amazing editing. I think having to push play at exact moment underscores the editing efforts and creates appreciation for the work put into this.

That was one of the coolest things anyone has done on UA-cam

Finally got a chance to check this out along with the song and it worked great. Well done, as usual. I totally agree that this is one of Hendrix's best songs, and Winwood's performance is fantastic. Thanks!

The Magick is the playing while paying tribute to the blues/Beatles/Cream/The Who and later, the jazz greats.
    A strange and powerful brew...🙏👍❤🙏

This was awesome. Do more like these, even if I have to play the music on my phone next to me

This is spooky. Just yesterday when I was in the shower the song Voodo Chile (NOT "Voodoo Chile Slight return") started playing in my mind. I started pondering on the Hendrix phenomenon and how he transformed the electric guitar. I wondered how music would be if he had never been born or how it would be if he lived for a few more years than he did. Today this was recommended to me. Is UA-cam algorithm indexing our brains now?
