It has been almost a week since your tribute show in LA, and I still can't believe your are gone, Chris. Such an amazing, gifted talent and voice and a leader of the Seattle music scene of the 90's. I've followed your career from Soundgarden, to Temple of the Dog, to solo Chris Cornell, to Audioslave, and you created magic in all of your music. You are the voice of a generation, and inspired so many that came after you. From the survivors from Mother Love Bone to the late Chester Bennington who followed literally unfortunately in your same exact path. I know you suffered greatly as did many before you including your friend Andy Wood, Kurt Cobain, Layne Staley, etc. RIP Mr. Cornell. I loved your voice, your talent, and music and still do and always will. You will forever be missed, and your legend will live on in your amazing music.
When the spoon is hot And the needle's sharp An' you drift away Ooh, I can hear you say That the world in black Is upon your back And your body shakes So you ditch away Yeah, and you close the shades Don't try to do it Don't try to kill your time, oh Yeah, you might do it Then you can't change your mind, oh You've gotta hold on to your time 'Til you break through these times of trouble When you try to talk And the words get hard And they put you down Don't you stay Don't ditch away I saw ya' swingin' Yeah, swingin' your mother's sword, oh Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know you're playin' Oh, sometimes the rules get hard, oh But if somebody left you out on a ledge If somebody pushed you over the edge You've gotta hold on to your time And break through these times of trouble I saw ya' swingin' Yeah, swingin' your mother's sword, oh Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know you're playin' Oh, sometimes the rules get hard, oh But if somebody left you out on the ledge If somebody pushed you over the edge If somebody loved you and left you for dead You've gotta hold on to your time and break Through these times of trouble Add a comment
At 3:27 theres a brief yet very cool moment where Chris seems to stare right into the camera of the person filming, and then proceeds to belt out my favourite note from the whole song with that scream at 3:41

Never got to see TDG or Soundgarden or even Chris on solo tour…I am so bummed because I moved to PNW mostly due to the music

Why Chris Why
You inspired so many
You presence on staged was prophetic
RIP I hope your in pain is gone
Me too
Fantastic song and killer lyrics. So many people can relate to the courage it takes to sing this to a crowd when you are feeling down.♡♡♡♡♡♡♡
When the spoon is hot
And the needle's sharp
An' you drift away
Ooh, I can hear you say
That the world in black
Is upon your back
And your body shakes
So you ditch away
Yeah, and you close the shades
Don't try to do it
Don't try to kill your time, oh
Yeah, you might do it
Then you can't change your mind, oh
You've gotta hold on to your time
'Til you break through these times of trouble
When you try to talk
And the words get hard
And they put you down
Don't you stay
Don't ditch away
I saw ya' swingin'
Yeah, swingin' your mother's sword, oh
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know you're playin'
Oh, sometimes the rules get hard, oh
But if somebody left you out on a ledge
If somebody pushed you over the edge
You've gotta hold on to your time
And break through these times of trouble
I saw ya' swingin'
Yeah, swingin' your mother's sword, oh
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know you're playin'
Oh, sometimes the rules get hard, oh
But if somebody left you out on the ledge
If somebody pushed you over the edge
If somebody loved you and left you for dead
You've gotta hold on to your time and break
Through these times of trouble

best track on the album!!
Another Cornell Masterpiece
The fact that Chris overcame so much pain itself was like this song was his life.
