Subbed right when I heard, "I prioritise things like surface detail, color separation, and size over articulation and gimmicks." LOL @ "rebound build" makes so much sense
I’m buying this to kinda mix in with my jumbo Shogun Warriors, Transformers, and Voltron… Ultraman, so I want this to look like a toy. It will be my first Gundam tho. Need to find some decals. I might do some minimal paint to break up the white and mask things off, hit the lines too.
I'm a beginner and bought the Mega Size Daban KO just to familiarize myself to all the aspects of the hobby. I have now every Bandai RX-78-2 kits SD, SDCS, HG, RG, MG & PG. I will use your awesome work as reference when I finally go back to doing another Mega Size RX. You did a phenomenal job.
Thank you for the kind words :) Its funny the more I build the more I appreciate the RX-78 and all its iterations. My favorite MS is the Zeta Gundam but every time I see the grandpa Gundam online it really makes me think man.. maybe its the RX78! If you do build the Bandai 1/48 version in the future, I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on it vs Daban. I know lots of 3rd party kits are hit or miss but it'd be interesting to see how it stacks up.
We need more content creators just like you in the community. The more we have the more diversity we can bring the better this community. Thank you for sharing your work. Excellent build.
Thank you for the extremely kind words! I agree when I find new gunpla builders on UA-cam it's awesome cuz you get another perspective on a kit. Sometimes on a kit you're very familiar with or one you're researching 😁
Thank you! Sorry for the delay in reply but I had to dig through my paints to make sure: Red - Mr. Color: C068: 100% Light Red - Mr Color C174: 20%, Mr Color C068: 80% Blue - Mr Color C005: 80%, Mr Color C316: 20% Dark Blue - Mr Color C080: 100% White - Mr Color C316: 100% Grey - Mr Color C315: 100% Hope this helps!
Hi Man! may I ask you the size of the nozzle of your airbrush did you use for this job? maybe 0.5? usually model on 1/144 and I use 0.3 nozzle but ...I have this model in my hands and it is truly a "Big Boy" Anyway, great result man!
Good call 👍 build looks great. Looking to get one of these after I finish my mega size Char’s zaku. Question though, Did you use Perfect grade parts for the metal pieces? And water slides or no? I lost the og stickers to mine and picked up the perfect grade ones for the zaku🤦♂️ And gosh your paint jobs on the zeta and this are fantastic. I’d love to see some WIP videos
@tucker hood thanks! I'll probably do some WIP videos in the future. Still getting used to this platform! The metal parts are actually from a PG unicorn kit. It was all the local hobby shop had but metal parts aren't kit specific per se so it worked out. If you're looking for waterslides for this guy I got mine from www.modellersworkshop.com.au and they're meant to be the same as the Gundam Base Tokyo variant. Shipping is reasonable to the USA too!
I used the waterslides from this guy: www.modellersworkshop.com.au/megasize-rx-78-2/ I linked the topcoat I used in the other comment you left. I can't wait until my son is old enough to build with me. I think I'll do a mega size zaku when he's ready.
@@juanmig4032 Yeah, I'll own that I could've done better on the seamlines lol. I'm researching LEDs and will one day start including them on my builds :)
I haven't built the PG yet. But knowing myself the mega size is the one. The PG is nice cuz of the gimmicks like open hatch and finer details but not sure I'd be happy with the parts count.

Lol I thought I'd get reamed for that comment on not prioritizing articulation and gimmicks. Glad there are others who feel the same way!

i really love the way you build this and the color, please could you share all the color your use in this RX-78-2.

Dark Blue - Mr Color C080: 100%
White - Mr Color C316: 100%
Grey - Mr Color C315: 100%
Hope this helps!
I just started building gunpla my first was the RG Full Burner
Awesome! Welcome! I hope you develop a healthy addiction to gunpla lol
Great stuff! Keep the videos coming!!
Thanks! I'm trying but the holidays are here. Lol I got a backlog of videos to do now!
Awesome
The marking lights on the shoulders should be red on the left, green on the right, not front and back.
Otherwise, fantastic work, man!
Lol thanks! I incorrectly took some liberty there. I was like if I did one shoulder in each color other pilots wouldn't know which way was the front.
@@GunplaDave I've seen other people do it too, so don't feel bad 😊

Hello Dave,
the parts in light grey are surfacer ?
Do you like the unleashed one ?
Did you use extra waterslides? I havent gotten in the attic and looked at what decals came with this model originally, but I have this model.

What paint do u use to paint with ?
Also outside of metal ad etch add ons, were there any added scribe lines? I saw some tiny (drill holes/bolt holes)
I didn't do any scribing on this kit. Just the metal verniers and some photo etch parts like on the sides of the backpack and the bottom on the feet.
@@GunplaDave got it. My son has had this kit for a while, and I have been itching to paint it. What waterslide set did u use and topcoat?

I m about to start this one, i will use yours as reference because it is perfect 👌🏼
Oh damn, thanks! Have fun man, shit goes together like duplo legos lol
Where did you get the metal parts? I’m new to gunpla myself
Pretty much all from ebay. I know some sites like usagundamstore and newtype.us also carry them

Where do you get the decals?
Sorry for the late reply. I get mine from www.modellersworkshop.com.au
Where can i get all of the decals?

What top coat are u using for ultra matte?
I used this: amzn.to/2Ht8In2
Its crazy how different the finish is between this and the blue can Mr Top Coat.
