Whale bumps boat, close encounter in small inflatable
Вставка

- Two Humpback whales took interest in our boat on the way to the Channel Islands off Santa Barbara, CA. They were amazingly gentle creatures and got extremely close to the boat, at one point touching it.

sometimes they give a small lift for small boats such as kayaks and inflatable boats, they are just playing with you.
until you're dead lmao
LMAO, comment of the day
It’s different to stay cool when you’re watching video and being out there in a 20 ft skiff and they start playing with you. Takes getting used to
@@jozzzy8758 took the words right out my mouth lmao
Exactly!
It is a zoological fact that whales hate being called rad. Look it up.
LMAO
Fer sure, dude!
😂😂😂😂
Yup 👍🏻
You're right . I saw a documentary about it. Ninja turtles like it tho
It’s as if they wanted to shake your hands or give you a hug. Heart pounding and heart warming at the same time.
@@DisrespectfulRob whales don't eat humans did you see a crocodile in this vid?
It's the realization of being far from shore and the water so cold that brings out the concern in the voice.
Yes. She’s not afraid of the whale, she’s afraid of being overturned in ice cold water
Wow a lot of assumptions here.
Crystal Magick does it really matter that much?
@@PlayGtr Yes she could have just remembered she left the cooker on at home at that exact moment.
no its the realization of being a small ass human who isnt in control of the situation anymore from the moment the whale showed up it was the whale who decided who was gonna go home safe after the encouter
I would imagine that some incidents like this may be explained by past experiences of other humans helping in assisting whales from being entangled in nets and ropes etc. Not distinguishing one vessel from another they may be trying to express continual gratitude because actions by other caring humans who assisted rather than being afraid and or destroying these magnificent creatures. Research shows that these mammals have a long memory and reward incidents of kindness.
wrong ! whales are too dumb to understand whats going on when people help them .

Is your statement based on something you could refer to?
Amazing
Absolutely not, you don't have to humanize animals.
@@Hwishsj Absolutely yes. Just because your ignorance and religious idoctrination are at dangerous, pathetic, and embarrassing levels doesn't mean facts all of a sudden stop being true. Narcissistic fools like you make me sick, you and people like you are a driving factor for why the world is so bad off.
I really enjoyed that. Love the excitement and awe they were experiencing. Thank you very much for sharing.
Would have been scared too! Huge they truly are. Recently saw one guy picking barnacles off one of their faces. 🥴 Back for facial massage? 😳
When your that close to a whale.
And you didn't have your engine on.
Never try to start it or move.
Whales don't like that ever!
Luis Sousa thanks
Luis Sousa , She knows, hence her/them not firing up the engine. There’s a comment above of her explaining what happened after and how she got away.
really?
And or you can hurt the animal 😬
Humpback whales love pepper! They hate cinnamon..
So amazing that the biggest animal on this planet is one of the most gentle.
....and we are killing them
not THE biggest but still
@@CraigMine what’s bigger

@@remorselessx1923 The blue whale is the biggest.
Lol. It’s intimidating as F but you were never in actual danger. What an amazing experience. It’s not rare at all for many species to come close and check you out and even play, but it’s kind of rare for whales to literally hang out with you. They were staying in place just goofing around basically. Really cool. 🤙🏻
whales are known to capsize boats so, they were way too close
@I’m in your mouth there's some incredible footage of a whale jumping out of the water and landing directly on top of a kayak with two people in it.
You’re an idiot. They were in danger.
@@bound6172
Not really.
Ok, whale expert! Thanks.
Grew up on boats seeing whales from childhood and it still gives me the most amazing feelings
I’d be so tempted to slip into the water with them.....that is as close to a “godly” experience I could ever wish for
Why is it people have such a problem with the talking? Okay, you prefer quiet but she's living this too close encounter. Allow for emotional vocalizing and, how about, you keep quiet - i.e. don't volunteer a comment.
In this case I agree with you, I didn't find her reactions annoying. But there are some animal encounter videos on UA-cam where the sound the person is making is absolutely frustrating... I just saw one of a man with his son on a kayak and a killer whale passes by and the man is laughing loudly and uncontrollably into the mic of the cam. It completely ruins the video.
ArgoX2007 I saw that one also. Yes he was pretty loud, I think it was more a scared laughter for him and his son. He probably didn't know how Orcas will react.
Her voice sounds insincere because she is really scared. Things go better when you remain calm and whales aren't malevolent animals
Get in the real world It's youtube fool, how bout you keep quiet unless your the youtube police- i.e. Don't volunteer comments- i.e. Hypocrisy, narcissism is worse than the youtube troll club...
I am in the real world. I'm not the UA-cam police and you're not the thought police. Nothing I've written has been hypocritical or narcissistic. People don't understand the intelligence of whales and it saddens me to see people react out of fear towards them. Pretty sure I'm aloud to say what I want and if I put up a video I would expect to hear all manner of things even if I don't like them or if I disagree.
Wow! These whales are incredible! How easily they could overturn the boat with a mere flick of their fins, and yet they did not. Amazingly careful and gentle they are! That said, I confess that if it were me, I likely would have micturated for sheer fright!! The mammoth size of these wonderful animals, however much I love them, is certainly daunting--more so out in the middle of nowhere, in vast, opaque waters with no shore in sight!! :D
Whales are some of the most intelligent and curious animals on the planet. It's such a shame that humans decimated 90% of them within the span of a couple hundred years.

In the immortal words of Sheriff Brody, "I think we're gonna need a bigger boat."
Brody never said “I think” he said “You’re gonna”.
Wow, what an absolutely amazing encounter. You guys are so lucky to have seen this with your own eyes. Thank you so much for sharing this video!
I'm actually German but no worries, feel free to mute away ;)
Ole Kils I don't think there is anything wrong with your voice
why would you care enough about someone talking on their own video to insult them about it? Pathetic
Ole Kils , Your video is amazing! Thanks for sharing! You must have been terrified, evidently; but, at the same time it was probably one of, if not the most awesome thing you’ve experienced! 👌👍👏😍 ❤️
Thought you where swedish
You shouldn’t have to apologize for YOUR video :)
However, if you don’t mind, I do want to know what happened next?? Did y’all move the boat?
Edit: Never mind I see you answered further down the comments. Cheers!!
Did she really say " dude your so rad" to a whale ??!! 😂😂😂 she must be lost in the 80s 😂
Hello how’re you doing?
I wonder if this is how smaller living things feel when we as humans just marvel, observe, and cherish them
She went from "they are SO RAD Babe" to "BABE, we gotta get out of here..." LOL
Don't worry guys
They are called the gentle giants of the sea.
Cool vid very cool
Lol, I'd be scared too, I won't lie.
No matter how beautiful this is....as soon as i heard "dude your so rad" i couldnt press exit quick enough 🤦♂️
sometimes when you stay quiet you can enjoy deeper (the lady , talk, talk ,panic!!)
He was thinking, "belly scratch on the surface."
From: “you’re so rad!” To: “babe we gotta go!” .... that quick 🤣.
"Dude your so rad!!!" 😂
I don't see why people are complaining so much about the commentary, it's normal haha.
What a thrill! Glad all were safe. 😊💗
1:33 “should we move?” Yeah… risk startling these whales or worse yet injure them with the propeller. Sounds like RAD idea🙈
lmao okkk????? she was just getting nervous and probably a little scared, you can hear it in her voice. she wasn’t overly panicking or being irrational
Ok captain hindsight
I really loved the video. Also liked that she was freaking out a little bit I would’ve too. Makes you feel like you’re there. I would’ve not turned on the boat in fear of the propeller cutting into one of the whales though. I would’ve just waited it out.
Exactly.
just had this in my recommendations, amazing to see, l like the comment you made when the whales went under the boat ' he's on the boat' l think it was the other way round, you were on the whale. Whale surfing... what an experience. They are so gentle, never aggressive, if they had upturned your boat it would have been by accident. These incredible creatures know what they are doing. This is one encounter you will never forget. l truly envy you.
It probably wanted help to get all those horrible annoying barnacles off. It's covered in them 1:34
0:55 “Duuuude you’re so raaaaaaaaad” most American sentence ever 😂😂
"You're so RAD!!!!"
"AAAWW thank you! come on let's hug!"
"We better get outta here..!"
Don't start that propeller with the whales so close. It probably wouldn't hurt rhem, but it might cut just a little, and it would just be a sh!tty thing to do. The guy seemed to know this. Why didn't she?
stfu and enjoy nature, nobody wants your opinion.
girl is in panic mode
anon *them
She's a woman unfortunately
The guy said he didn’t want to turn the engine on with them so close
that’s awesome! truly magnificent creatures.
When too close to whales, keep your boat idle. Engine turbine may harm them badly. Keep calm and enjoy
Her reaction is so sweet you can tell how excited she is and the whales are having a ball just messing around with the boat which is also very sweet❤😃
Sweet? LMAO they're waiting for their treats to fall off the boat 🤣
Love the Greek flag!!!
Its the scottish flag bro
The ladies commentary is brilliant 👍
Whale: *Shhhhhh*
Human: *Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah*
LOL this lady's commentary cracked me up
Omg, this is my dream, I love whales!
I remember fishing off palos verdes coast in cali and seeing these huge creatures it’s amazing
Turning on the boat right there and then puts the whales life at immediate risk.
Fantastic footage, would be nice to see the rest though.
Probably the wife of the first whale came to bump the boat “ did you call my husband honey, that will teach ya”
my biggest fear is if they make a breach out of the water and body slam onto the boat ☠☠
That chicks voice blew my high.
you definitely shouldnt turn on your motor in this situation
I think he just wanted you to scratch that itch on his belly in the end there
Thats awesome. I would have been a bit nervous too just being on an inflatable but ive had one close to my kayak
Hahah that went pretty fast from "ooooh so rad 🤙" to "BaBY wE nEeD To GeT Out Of HErE"
Dude. If a tiny fish grazes my ankle while I'm swimming in a lake, I get out and run 146km inland.
This thing brushing my inflatable?! 😳 I'll see you on Mars, bud!
It went from "you are so RAD!!" , to fight or flight response of fear for one's life. LOL!
Damn she scared them away with that voice
It went from "hi honey" to "should we move?, LETS GET OUT OF HERE AAAAAAAAAA" pretty fast
Nice, Something you never forget 🙏
Beautiful!
It’s all fun and games until that big boy has had enough 😂😂😂
I love that native Californians are enjoying their coastal treasures. "Dude, you are sooooo rad!" Lol
Crazy experience, alot of people say they are saying hello and things all positive. But imagine they are saying please move you're boat we don't want it in our home.
I love whales but these ladies are way calmer about this than I would be lol
I would shit myself in the middle of the ocean with that fog
So did you start the outboard and carve ‘em up?
Everybody is a marine biologist these days. It’s all fun and games until they deflate your inflatable boat.
A well-unknown fact is whales have fine, comb-like plates made of a fibrous material called baleen through which they can chew and swallow small boats.
the girls reactions are the best thing... soo good =]
WOW! Thanx to U For sure A Beautiful 🌊❤️🌊🐳precious honey! 🙌
Magnificent Whales! We ALWAYZ will treasure! ♥️ Of Our Mighty gorgeous OCEANS!

Amazing......lucky you.......thanks for sharing
From being overly excited to suddenly being terrified! This is an intelligent animal with no ill will. You shouldn’t freak out!
They were saying hello! They definitely knew you were there and gave you guys a friendly gesture.
No it's sticking it's pectoral fin up like please take these nasty barnacles off. 1:34. Poor thing is covered in them.
NO Shit, if it was me, i would have screamed like a bitch, holy fuck
Fabricio Takaki you ARE a bitch
That was really cool but it would still make me vary nervous. Those humans and the whales were very well behaved.
"Hi Honey" xD love it
And the honey make you pee in the pant😂😂😂
So gentle.
What was funny part of the video is how she goes like "Hi honey" (please don't eat me)
"SO RAD"
"OMG GTFO"
such a beautiful animal
Was this in Quebec?
“Dude, you’re so rad!”
I live in Alaska and know of a sport fishing guide that had a boat that was rammed and sunk by a whale. Crazy stuff. You of course can’t believe everything a fisherman says but he was dead serious and doesn’t waffle on his story and truly lost a boat. Jody is the fishing guide and he works out of Whittier. Crazy to think about.
Was there another boat nearby to bring him in?
@@k.d.5603 Ya, he said that he radioed another boat and they arrived before it totally sunk but there was no saving his boat.
@@ericksonjustinAK I'm glad he was able to radio for help first!
What an incredible encounter!
terrifying yet entrancing
That's so cool that there that close
These animals are intelligent. Amazing.
Wait! What happened after "We gotta get outa here"?
“Dude you’re so rad“. The 1980s called, they want their expressions back
Hahahah that whale knew exactly what it was doing 😂😂😂
Awesome, awesome, awesome.!
Quick question if you jumped in the water would they attack you or what..I'm not a marine biologist so just asking
They probably wouldnt attack, but its illegal in most of the world to swim with cetaceans. Humpbacks can be very gentle with swimmers and boats they are still wild beings and deserve to have personal space.
when she said here it comes I would've been gone
They sure looked like they wanted to come aboard lol
Hello how’re you doing?
I really hope they didn’t start that motor with the whales right there🤨
Is it unsafe to jump in the water with them?
Her: "So let's turn the motor on and have that fast spinning propellor near the whale"...
Dude you're so rad...omg
"Ok, we've got to get out of here" is a far cry from "Hi baby...". This is when reality hits you.
From “So rad” to “ We gotta get out of here”.
From "hey sweetie" and "your so rad" to "let's get outta here" ya
