I thoroughly enjoyed this presentation, I was recommending my sibling in high school to take some AP classes including seminar at their school. I didn't take seminar in high school so I wanted to see what kind of work would be done in AP seminar. I will say, however being critical as a biology grad that though mice/rats are used as model organisms certain lines of mice/rat are developed (inbred) to study conditions that may not be appropriate for the condition of study and there are limitations to using rats/mice even humanized mice to study conditions prevalent in humans. This presentation was really engaging overall.
What score did college board give this presentation?I go to Granite Hills in Apple Valley, our school is in our first year of having the Capstone course. I am in this class and trying to understand what the scorers are asking for.My teacher is getting frustrated trying to understand what they are asking for, he sees that the grading method is very subjective.
This is really good! I am taking AP Seminar this year but my teacher hasn't provided any examples. I am confused about how to write using various lenses. For example Climate change. how to apply various lenses to that issue beside environmental and probably political (can't think of much for that lens too). what lenses did you use in this?
what was the question you guys had for pt 1? I understand this had to do with school lunches, but as someone also in Capstone trying to come up with a well written question, i'm trying to see how specific i'd need to be.
Hi!! I will be a sophomore next year and I was thinking of AP World, AP Seminar, and AP Psychology. I also do a sport and karate in which I would be busy from 3-5 then again from 6-7. Is this too much for me? I currently take an AP class now and I could definitely do two, but idk about three?
Hello! Current AP Seminar student here. I don’t take AP World, so I don’t know what the work load is for that class. However, I have friends in AP Psych and I know there is usually a module assigned to read every night. AP Seminar does not have formal “homework”, but that depends on the teacher. From my experience, when you’re in the middle of papers and presentations you will have to do a lot of your research and writing outside of school. The class is all about managing your time effectively and is largely independent. For someone like you with a busy schedule, I don’t think it’s impossible to take all three, however you would definitely be staying up late almost every night. I’d estimate around 11: 00 depending on how fast you work. You could possibly lighten your workload on the weekdays by spending a small amount of time on Seminar, and focusing on the other two classes, and then completing the bulk of your Seminar work on the weekends. It is a challenge, but not impossible. You would need to be willing to sacrifice free time because psychology is a notes and lecture based class, while Seminar is very research oriented and time consuming. I hope this helped! (I also take AP Bio, highly recommend taking it sometime during high school!)
Also is AP seminar hard?? I am a good writer and I write quickly so I thought it would feel like taking 2 1/2 AP's but I could be wrong. How's your schedule with it?
@@GoogleUser-es9vs Out of those three I would definitely recommend Seminar and Psychology, although if you really are interested in World then I’d just go for it! If you’re up for a challenge then taking three will be fine. I know people who take three or even four APs right now, even with after school clubs and activities. I only take two this year but next year I will be taking three. However, taking just seminar and psych would make things much easier for you and it is completely up to you to decide. Three APs is a large work load for sure.
@@GoogleUser-es9vs AP Seminar is difficult in certain aspects. You have to be able to write a solid essay in order to get by in this class, but your teacher can always help you with your papers (except for the AP exams, they can’t give you advice). So you’ll definitely be good with the writing part. Your teammates, if you’re doing a group project, can also review your essay, and any of your other classmates could as well. The hardest part of the class (for me) is coming up with an effective research question and researching. Being a quick writer is a good skill to have for this class since there are deadlines for papers. But keep in mind that for Seminar your papers have to be thorough and will take time and plenty of editing to complete. Although I can’t speak for everyone, presentations are another one of the most difficult things because many people get nervous about public speaking including me. You do a LOT of presenting and speaking in this class. I am still a little nervous about it, but AP Seminar improved my presentation skills 100%. You wouldn’t be able to tell I was scared from my voice, and I gained much more confidence while presenting that it is just a natural thing now. Even though writing is your strength, essays are not the only thing you do in this class. If you struggle with certain things at the beginning, I guarantee you will improve your skills in this class. In short: yes, the class is difficult and your writing skills will help you but remember that there are other things you have to learn besides essays :)
