I'm currently a student of Los Angeles Film School doing my courses online on my laptop to persue my Bachelors of Science- Writing For Film & Television.
Apologies. I take the previous comment back. The school seems to have nothing in order when it comes to enrollment and the admissions department is completely disorganized. I'll spare the details and just inform anyone who wishes to pursue this career path to choose wisely. A different school. I went with the AI institutes of Miami.
You have no idea how badly I've waited to be in some sort of film school. All I've ever wanted to be was an actor, screen writer, and director. I've been struggling so hard throughout the years to figure out on how to get into the school. I'll do whatever it takes to fulfill my passion for film. I usually study so many films everyday to know all about it. I don't have much experience with how acting works, but it's all I've ever wanted to do.
I love about 4-6 hours away from LA, so I don't know how I'm going to travel there, find a job, pay for it (even though I have a decent amount of money saved). It just means the world to me as it's been upsetting that I haven't gotten around to it yet, but it's been on my mind for about ten years now. I've never worked so hard for something before, but to be in the film industry, I'll do my very best to succeed in it. :)
Bro, we have the same dream, I’m trying everything to make it come true, I want to be like Martin Scorsese, I want to be an actor like Marlon Brando, no one is like him but I can try hahahha, Movies ate everything to me. I wish the best luck for you my bro ❤
KEEP GOING I BELIEVE IN YOU
Its never too late my friend!! Go after your goals and dreams no matter what💪🏼
i feel the exact same way! all my life i’ve been a huge cinema nerd and there’s NOTHING else in the world that i’m more passionate about. i wanna do screenwriting, directing, and voice acting the most. and some cinematography on the side lol. idk how i’m gonna get there or make it happen tbh but, i’ll literally no whatever it takes.
I know your comment was 4 years ago but i wish you the best on your journey and i hope it’s treating you well right now :)
I really love this film school. I’m taking classes online for the degree program I chose, and the classes are amazing. The instructors are very helpful, and it’s one of the best film schools to attend and online
im so happy you like the school! hope you stick around to see more of my LAFS videos :) thank for watching!
Don’t you have to pay for it? How much is it?
@@blessingo.6788 no shit
May I ask how do you pay for the tuition ? Is taking out federal loans a requirement ?
Me being an artist, editor, and learning 2d animation and attempting 3D I have hopes that this school will increase my knowledge in the artistic and editing fields. Thank you for this video it really helped me loosen up a bit about the school and their high costs. Definitely worth it from what I hear
hey for animation do you need computer experience or can one still go without having any 🙁
they give you a computer with all the programs they teach you, you can go with any experience !
I’m glad I found your comment, I don’t know a thing about film but I’m interested in the animation area
I'm going in to the La Film school for Music production. I'm anxious af aha. But I'm excited to see what I can gain from this. The cost is the biggest stressor to me. But the passion for music will take me through all of it. And I'm sure everything will get figured out.
Hey! Im in the same spot right now. I LOVE music but i have been hesitant to start because of the cost. How is it going for you?
This was so helpful! I just went to the open house for animation today! I am so hyped.
Hey, Lyla I'm a LAFS online student in the Bachelors of Science in Digital Filmmaking. The online course is similar, except we kind of make our own hours, however, we do have live classes we have to attend and of course deadlines to meet each week. I saw your student showcase on the website, had to sneak watch it at work lol. Great job, and I look forward to seeing what you come out with.
How cool! didn't even know my show case is on the website till now omg thank you for letting me know! and yes, please stay tuned for more videos on LAFS :)
This video was the push I needed to start pursuing my biggest passion.
Congrats to all the future Graduates of LA Film school. I'm a music Production major and this is exciting coming from a musician who is very passionate about starting classes today.
Hey! I want to get into music production and I’m looking for the right school for me, can you tell me how it’s going for you so far?
@@Lwyanii you have to check them out. Unfortunately I wasn't able to continue at la film school due to student loans

You are the first person I have ever seen on UA-cam that actually puts timestamps for different sections! thank god probably expected for a film student who like structure I literally started yesterday for the online degree because of the whole pandemic I don't want to go in and I was going to go to NYFA since its closer 😂😂 . I was skeptical about it because of the yelp reviews 😳
im glad you enjoyed the video! im goinng to post one soon about NYFA, stay tuned and good luck with starting the school! hope it suits you :)

Happy I could help! It must feel great to finally pursue your passion. Hope you enjoy the school!
LAFS students would know the pain when they see 830-530 and think it’s broken into section 1 & 2 but realize it says ALL.
Hey Lyla! Thank you so much for this video & Your Channel in general! I’m just now about to attend LAFS Online & this content really blessed me.

thats so awesome! thanks for watching and stay tuned former video about the los Angeles film school :)
There are a lot of videos about this course but I never hear the outcome. Ever one just says "I started"
You said some student don’t know much about film. What are somethings a student SHOULD know ?
Adopt Us I’m just talking about basics for film school like how to edit or set up a camera.
I do know that there are writers out there that have did their own movie and for example Steven sigel he wrote his own and produced his own pretty much like that. Thank you so much for the information
Sounds awesome!!!!!
LATE. jk glad this video came around, keep it up luv 💕💕
I'm not late, ur just early hahah jk jk but thank you for the support!!
It sounds like the perfect school
im thinking of going here within the next few years. i was wondering if its necessary to get their tech kit. I love apple and alienware products but i like to choose different brands if they're more affordable
That's awesome! The tech kit is only given to students but you'll get a different laptop depending on what program you are in.
This is a really good video!
Thank You, glad this was helpful!!
4 years later how do you feel now? I had one phone call with them and was immediately turned off
I have two questions . 1. is it possible to go for a par time job ? ( International student ) 2 . single Class per month ! really ? and remaining 29 days ? what are we gonna do
1. I've heard that you will not be able to get both a student visa and a work visa at the same time but you can always do some freelance work your self or get a job that will pay you threw cash ( I have a few friends who do this without the work visa). 2. What do you mean by the remaining 29 days? We get a new class every month but you will always be one class per month. If you are asking what classes we will be taking threw out the years then I have some examples at 05:30 in this video :)
Lyla he thinks you mean one class one day of the month.. but it's one class, for the whole month, every day. Pretty much. I'm also a student at LARS. Video really helped a lot of people out. I'm a student and checked it out just to hear what you had to say so it kinda helped me out too, thanks.
Thank you for all the information
You are very welcome! Glad I could help and stay tuned for more video about the Los Angeles film school!
@Lyla what do you plan on doing after school?
Darth Reese working on my short and saving up money to make more!! :D
I love film it’s my passion I want to be an actor and writer thank you for the info In this video
Yea no problem thanks for watching and stay tuned for my LAFS videos on my channel for more information on the school :)
I heard Chris Stuckmann did attend this school.
wow how cool!
Everything you are sharing are good and very nice from you. I know and you know there are people that know much like you do and need your help something in some issues from you, you don't have to feel umbarasse yourself or feel sorry 4 them. Helping others is the most beautiful and appreciated thing you can do for every living thing on earth, and in your life, because you also building a brigthness future 4 yourself. Some people know things that you don't know and might be you'll need in your future.
Thank you everything you are is appreciated.
Manuel
My friend wants to go there but she doesn’t live in the United States
Jenny Fb that’s totally ok as long as she gets a student visa and her high school paperwork to apply 😌
I don’t know anything about film but I know this is what I wanna do. So what classes do you recommend I take before attending there because I don’t wanna go not knowing anything
K E N I recommend taking an intro to film class or a film basics class first! You can find them at most community colleges or as a college and career program near you!
Lyla ok I will look into that! thank you!!!
I recommend just going to LAFS you don't need any bs intro to anything don't be discouraged just go they'll teach you everything.
Love Wells not really actually they will except you to know some stuff about film. Also it is extremely useful to know the basics before attending!
My question is, do you get a kit with a camera, lights, and everything else if you go to school on campus or is that just online? I know you get the computer
That schedule is unbelievable. How are you supposed to have a job at the same time if it’s all over the place like that??
idk but I did it!! :)
How do I learn more before attending what do you recommend? Ever since I was a kid I’ve waited to creat movies from my vision.
thats awesome! thanks for watching and I hope you stick around to see more of my LAFS Videos! I do talk about this question a lot in my other videos but to sum it up, I'd say practice with your own equipment as much as you can or maybe take a class on what you are intreated in! hope this helped :)
Can you ask someone in the animation with visual effects concentration program to join you for your next video ?
I think after I graduate from college I want to attend the Los Angeles Film school because I want my video game to go public
thats so awesome! thanks for watching and stay tuned former video about the los Angeles film school :)
Thank you!! For Your information about LA film school it's helpful one way or another. I would like to know more and from now on I will investigate more about writing and film and compare prices, time and so. Can you please tell us how much cost your 3years career? If would you can
Thank you very, very much
Manuel from San Jose,CA.
Thank you
Please excuse my ignorance but if a film school is about making films, what is the school where actors learn about acting ?
Thank you.
Hello, I was wondering if this school is good for acting as well!!
hope this doesnt come off as weird or creepy but i really like your shirt
Interesting video! From a film school student though as for lighting, angles and stuff I expected a technically more professional approach
This is one of my first videos that I had ever made but thanks for watching and be sure to check out some of my more updated videos about film school!!
Thank for this video I am single mother and I just apply and they send me email for everything but I just am little woried
thanks for watching!!
Does the school have any connections to studios??
Like, can the school get you internships in the film industry?
Yes!
Bruce Wayne I made a more recent video about my film internship if you wanna check it out!
Lyla Lee I will check it out.
If you're in the associate courses can you still get a internship
@@YoungNosaTv504 YES!
Did you take writing courses? Do you fell you got a lot out of it? A moderate amount? Did instructors help when you needed it?
There are no courses here that are impactful in terms of writing. Take an English course at a community college to enhance your education and improve your writing skills. This institution is a for-profit diploma mill. Most students here are veterans who want a low-stress, relaxed curriculum while receiving GI Bill benefits lol.
Do you have to take like any English or pre requisite courses ? Or is it just mainly film ? I’m thinking about joining
I have a question, for applying to this school does the SATs scores really matter?
I was thinking the same thing
no not at all. I wish I mentioned this in my video but all you really need to get in is your payment cause it's a private school which means you pay to get in. hope this helped and let me know if you have any more questions! :)
@@LylaLee3 How about financial aid? How much (usually) is it?
@@PretzelKing I don't know sorry
I was hoping to get insight on the finance aspects such as tuition... I'm surprised that wasn't mentioned
hi Lyla thanks for this video I've been thinking about coming to this school to get a degree with music production
Are there older people there? I’m over 50 but still have a desire to learn. Do you think it would be odd for someone my age to attend?
Can you give me what should I learn before going to LAFS to fit in?
It's not exactly to fit in but to be cognizant of the topics and lessons beforehand. Check out this video link where I explain more about this topic 😌 - ua-cam.com/video/mDQmwQp_454/v-deo.html
Do you need sat scores to apply for bachelors degree course? Or just highschool graduation like others?
huskybrows A Scores don’t matter to get into lafs, just need some proof that you graduated high school like your diploma
I want to go there but I'm all the way in Michigan so my parents are freakin out.
RobbieJelsomeno you can take it online!!
Go. You HAVE to live your life. Your love will not change for your parents whether you are in MI or CA. But once they see how successful you become, they will be happy they didn't hold you back and you'll be happy you didn't let them. You'll meet a lot of people from MI there.
Are there differences between this school, Full Sail, and New York Film Academy?
yes! I have made a video about this topic if you would like to check it out here is a link - ua-cam.com/video/HHywtXl3qQU/v-deo.html
#Nowplaying..
So how do you pick if you’re getting your bachelor’s degree or associates degree? Is it based on just choice or are there certain things you need to do to go for you bachelor’s degree?
Nick Cabral it’s by choice at any college! But yes, the bachelors degree is differently different cause it’s longer and has more classes... just like at any college
What about the tech kit? What’s in that?
Cole Currier no idea
I have one comment for you, if one is interested in digital journalism, would this school be the place to attend? There's a podcast for sale, If it's still on the market.
Is it hard to get in?? Also is it just film or is there a good music program??
There is Both! and The only requirements to get in is proof of graduating HS and tuition money so no, its not hard ;)
Lyla Lee so if I have bad grades in high school I don’t need to worry about that?
@@samanthas7979 no it won't matter, as long as you have passed!
Hello! Is it worth it to go to this school if I want to become an actor? I love directing and screenwriting but I mainly wanted to become an actor.
Hey, thanks for this video!
Now I'm a bit curious, what is the typical age gap between the students in the school? Are most of the students between 19 - 24 or can it range from 25 up to 30+ ? Would be interesting to know!
I also wonder if the school have many international students?
Thanks again!
Thadnill Glad you enjoyed it! To answer your questions, there are people from all ages, I’ve had people in my class from 18 years old all the way up to 50 years old. It is a college so you can be any age to attend the school. Also there is many international students that I’ve made lots of friends with people from all over the world who attend the school! Hope this was useful and good luck 😉
👍👍
Do y'all offer laptops or we gotta have our own?
Great question! All students receive a laptop. it's included with tuition :)
I took this class for a month before they told me that I was not going to be able to continue. However, It has allowed me t realize that I want to be a Producer. Something that I did not really know until after I took the class, though.
Would you be able to do the film and music?
Juan Lopez I’m pretty sure it’s just one of the other but I know in the film program you do have two sound classes. Not sure how it is in the music program though.
Thanks for all the information on LAFS. I've been thinking of attending. You mentioned you are in the directing program. Is there any more specific info you can give on what you might be learning as a director? Also, I'm curious what the rate is for getting jobs or making REAL industry connections that can help with getting jobs and such after graduating? Any thoughts on that? Like, does the school help with connecting you to people and production companies that can get you some work or is it really just up to you after graduation?
Usually it's up to you, she can't answer that because she doesn't know. I know because that's how life is.
I live in la and I really want to go to this school but idk what to major in. It’s like I love the creative side but I don’t know what to do.
We go to the School for once a month or we have to go to school according to the schedule ?? are all the classes in ur weekly schedule are online or we have to go to the school??
hello, thank you for watching my video ! I will say this video is a bit outdated and I explain a lot more about the school in my other LAFS videos. But to sum up your question, the school does have a schedule and as of right now I don't know if they are still doing zoom classes for the students who were on campus. If you live far away then you can always do the online program instead though. also here is a link to my LAFS Playlist which is full of more info about the school! - ua-cam.com/play/PLCHpNlyMtbu95pnLQAvZC6PbG055PCn1x.html
thanks❤️
Is lafs the same thing as nyfa
I’ll be making a video about this soon! Thanks for asking!
Which school is better
Usc school of cinematic arts
Or
New york film academy
Or lafs
i have no idea
Thanks you so much
Hey do you recommend me this school even though i don’t know how to use the professional equipment/software? All i know is that Filming is my passion, and I’ve always liked filming videos with my drone but i want to learn more ..what do you recommend?
it honestly depends on what you want to do in the industry. If you want to edit then you probably should get used to the software but if you want to be a camera operator or a cinematographer then maybe you should get familiar with the equipment.
Is there a way I can take both Directing and Cinematography at the same time?
I don't think thats possible but I will say that the first year for both programs are exactly the same! I was put in the same class as the Cinematography student for the first year of going there in the directing program.
I started there A.S. music producer
How much is the tuition fee for one year or 3 years combined!!? I really wanna know cause I'm from outside of the US and need the info before going forward!! This video was super helpful already.. thanks a ton❤️
hey thanks for watching and I hope you enjoy my LAFS Playlist that has more info on the school! sadly I don't have information o international students from LAFS so I don't know ... but heres a link that. might help! www.lafilm.edu/admissions/tuition/
Im doing music production this july
What is it like?
@@SimplyOneSound its easy up to music theory but as long as you can hold in all the basics you should be good
@@SimplyOneSound teachers are very responsive, and there are many resources and groups that the school links you to like a fb group with alumni and current students who willing to give feedback or network. Theres one guy who has his own label and gives student producers hands on experience with mixing and other opportunities
Thank you for the video! For someone who doesn’t know nothing about films, but in the future wants to take this classes, what do you recommend? What course take before get into LAFS? Thank you 🙏🏻
Renan Baltazar good question I have a few other videos that elaborate more on this topic but here’s a link to one of them if you’re interested!
Curios did you find a gif or job?
I had a few
Hey guys! Any updates on the online classes? Are they doing Cinematography or directing online? I've been wanting to go to the school but I currently had to move back to Texas because of Covid. Are they allowing class room work or can we do Online?
Do they require you a portfolios for you to enroll?
Junny Junjun don’t believe so. Pretty sure that’s optional hah

Keep it awesome lyla! Maybe I’ll see there later 😏
