Landberg Tile TV Every time I use wonder board in bathrooms the walls never straight or lever what can I do to just trowel the dam wall and make it nice ???
What a great idea! Thx for sharing. I’ll try that out with a 200 sqft bath using 18” tiles coming up next week. This job has lots of curves and angles and I was sweating thinking about all the complicated cuts. Now I’m going to search your channel for best way to layout a wrap-around room. Thanks again
mr diblasi you have great work on tile have seen several of your videos and man thats alot of work but you make it look excellent every time i wouldlove to learn the trade get food as you and get jobs would be great 🎉🎃
It's so funny, I'll watch you start to do something like this and jump ahead in my mind (I was going to add small pieces of cardboard to the rough cut template) but your method with the straight edge and parallel lines is simpler and, as you show, easy to transfer to the tile itself. The little triangle cutouts are another DiBlasi beauty. Wish I get you out here for that CA tile job. Schluter road trip.
What is that box cutter that you are using I have used several and then scissor and then tile cutters it's been going on all year can you please help what is that Thank you I love your channel already
I love the trick I will use this trick to install wood and tile love this tile patter by the way I'm going to use this pattern on my house some day thank you for been here
That Tip with the straight edge is a good one. But ild love to see how you did the one at the first step of the stairs thats a nasty Curve to get spot on
So heres a question do you know how to re zero an old tile saw? We have some that cut up to a 3/16ths off from square and they are almost useless to us now
Hi Sal, what are you using to mark your tile that doesn't come off with the wet saw? Also, if a wet saw is making tiny chips in the tile along the cut line (my tile is glazed ceramic), is this due to the blade being dull or not good enough to begin with?
Just a pencil, the type and quality of the wet saw and blade will make a huge difference on the outcome of the cut. Try dressing the blade and checking to see if the blade is out of round or if it wobbles. ua-cam.com/video/K2jrMctXvqQ/v-deo.html
I’ve been a tile tradesman for forty two years Sal, so, while I appreciate your mastery of the skills, I have to ask, what’s up with those casing undercuts?
Hi Sal I already finished wall tiles, install 12 x 24 inches and 1/3 horizontal , my question is bull nose tiles 3 x 12 inches, should I match the grout line or I don't have to. Which is look better???? Match the grout line to the wall tiles or not???
Sal, I should fly you out here to Calgary Canada. My husband is extremely particular, he can spend all day on our bathroom project and get 4 or 5 tiles done. We have 32 boxes of eight tiles to do ( ~200 tiles). That is going to take him 6 month if he doesn’t quit for a few years like other things he’s started. He continually has me cleaning all his spatulas, trowels, and mixer. Is there any medicine to give him that will help or should I be the one on meds?
You need to fix the studs before you install your board, that means furring and planing the studs as needed. If you use foam board you can wetshim. ua-cam.com/video/VIVLnhgJafY/v-deo.html
I’m sorta confused why not just trace the cardboard on the tile. don’t quite understand using the straight edge or what you mean by opposite side? Thanks
@@jimb9825 No because you use the ruler to transfer the actual cut lines onto the tile. See 8:52, Sal places one side of the ruler on the line on the cardboard then he traces a line on the tile using the other side of the ruler.
Good tip Sal, what happened to dibsmart? I tried to go on to order some more PLM clips and I couldn't find it, like it's not there anymore. Did you take the sight down?
Really? They had one of those Rubi bridge saws where I used to work and I thought it was crap compared to the Dewalt D24000. The Rubi just had no torque. You had to cut everything in multiple passes. I did everything I could to avoid using it.
@@eggsaladsamich7396 yeah and we got to the same place with our dewalts not cutting straight and that was why I was forced to use the rubi. Then we brought it up to the owner at a Monday morning meeting and we all decided to send all the dewalts into the local service center to be adjusted and it was so nice to have them cutting straight again.
Sal, I think your videos are wonderful, helpful, and much appreciated by the community; however, in this particular case, would you not just undercut the door jamb?
Sal, thank you for sharing your many tips. It is always a pleasure to watch a tradesman that has mastered his craft.

Very cool trick. I really like this design with the planks. Very aesthetically pleasing to the eye. We will have to try it soon.

How do you like that rubi bridge saw
Great saw, don't often need it, but it is worth having it for really big tiles.
@@SalDiBlasi been thinking of switching from a 10" to a bridge saw
@@dustinscroggins3382 I would say keep both, I have 6 wet saws, two of which I use the most, but they all come in handy for something during the year.

Good thing you marked that "X" on there otherwise you might have cut away the whole tile and only had the jamb left!

I’ve been a tile tradesman for forty two years Sal, so, while I appreciate your mastery of the skills, I have to ask, what’s up with those casing undercuts?
So you don't undercut?
Yes, I undercut. They just seem like they’re cut too high. I don’t mean to be critical. I appreciate the effort it must take to film your work.
👍👍👍
Hi Sal I already finished wall tiles, install 12 x 24 inches and 1/3 horizontal , my question is bull nose tiles 3 x 12 inches, should I match the grout line or I don't have to. Which is look better???? Match the grout line to the wall tiles or not???
If the bullnose is the same length or width of the tile, then best to match, if not the same, then you really don't that option.

Massachusetts.
I’m sorta confused why not just trace the cardboard on the tile. don’t quite understand using the straight edge or what you mean by opposite side? Thanks
Because the cardboard is rough cut to fit around the obstacle and then the ruler is used to mark the exact profile of the cut.
Nick Garwood but if the ruler is 2in wide doesn’t that make everything off?
@@jimb9825 No because you use the ruler to transfer the actual cut lines onto the tile. See 8:52, Sal places one side of the ruler on the line on the cardboard then he traces a line on the tile using the other side of the ruler.

You can undercut the trim (which was already done here) but you still have to cut the tile to fit around the bottom plate.
