There is a mod for GMod where it adds TF2 bots that come equipped with their abilities and stuff, the engineer builds functioning dispensers and sentries, the spy can cloak and disguise himself. I put all of these on 2fort once and made it so blue attacks at the red team and me included. I would be using the GMod guns. The most terrifying part? Having the Spy NPC from that mod waltzing right up to you disguised as as the Luigi player model I own. When the spy isn't on your team and is hostile towards you, he will disguise as any player model you have installed in the game files. And seeing what looked to be another person walking up to me in what is suppose to be me screwing around in ctf_2fort in GMod all by myself was super frightening. But even then, the time it takes me to set up the TF2 bots is unsettling because it is an otherwise empty multiplayer map. Without all the organized chaos that is a normal TF2 match on that map, I could never shake the feeling that something was wrong.

That's pretty cute that you can just bring up a moment from your childhood like that and relive it. I guess the tradeoff is it can maybe be tough to dispose of cringe.
the bigcity map goes crazy for me. i remember being 11 or 12 (i’m nearly 18 now) and literally just walking around on this map for almost hours at a time, alone. just because of how eerily peaceful it felt. and years later, it still makes me feel the same. i don’t play it anymore, but gmod has a permanent place in my heart.
The noises of gm_bigcity is what scared me, also try using this addon in VR G-man Obunga [NextBot] it dosen't jumpscare, it just follows you and eventually kills you. Kinda like the creature from It Follows
On the second map, its scarier not seeing anything happen. You're expecting to be scared. To see something. And when nothing happens, it leaves you with more anticipation, making the upcoming scare, if at all, thrilling. Even if there IS no scare, the fact alone of knowing "this map is haunted" but nothing happens is unsettlimg enough. Its playing a horror game without any jumpscares at all.
Your videos were one of the things that convinced me to get a VR headset. For the past few days I've been exploring old Gmod maps in VR myself and I LOVE it. There's something very weird about exploring old maps I'm very familiar with but in as immersive a way as VR. It's the 'creepy' vibe that being alone in Gmod gives ramped up to 11. I wish there were VR servers on Gmod, it'd be great to jump into a VR sandbox server and goof around with others.
I love the ambient noises in gmod. Even though they are uncanny, they are mesmerizing to me and make me warm/fuzzy because it brings old memories back just hearing them.
Play Half Life 2, that's where the sounds come from. If you didn't know, Garry's mod is a modification of the Source engine which is why it contains a bunch of half life 2 props.
A large factor of fear that many exclude Is anticipation. Also that door laugh that scared you sounded like an elite from halo ce. They laugh at you when they kill you
Stuff like this is the reason I can't play COD zombies alone, not even the zombies are what scare me, I just hate being in large empty spaces that are meant to be bustling with action
I really want a game made around this concept. Even if it’s more so an Easter egg in the game. But a recreated source engine type game, made in a different engine (to allow for more freedom). It was done with Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe. Bringing the old source feel into Unity. A game where empty maps are creepy and have you second guessing yourself. While following some sort of objective that keeps you exploring around the map. I don’t yet know how you could perfectly capture this (excluding the actual Gmod maps). Without it being labeled as “generic horror”. Rather it be more psychological horror. Not overdone. One day hopefully. And also, glad to see you exploring haunted Gmod maps again. As this is what brought me to your channel! Love them.
GM Big City is perfect for spooky little haunts since it already has unsettling easter eggs. I remember my brothers tricked me into the cafe door jumpscare when I first played it with them lol.
I remember just accidentally discovering it and actually breaking my laptop. When I got my new laptop, I refused to go through any doors. There is also a hidden talking gnome.

your voice is so nice man, like im really going through a rough time as im watching this video and its almost soothing in a way, thanks a lot, great vid :3
The maps are scary because they're similar or usually places where humans or someone else would be, but there's nobody. I'm petty sure there's a phobia for this as well.
im not a gmod map maker, but i think the background sounds "such as police car sirens" aren't used for scaring, yet to de-focus the player "make the player stop focusing on the thing they are doing" and rather make them look for the source of the sound.
Hello Librarian, a REALLY good game that you should play is Anemoiapolis. It is a game focused on liminal spaces and i would absolutely love watch you play it!
I always remember that in the city map with the skyscrapers, there was a building somewhere in the grassy field area, that you could no-clip into and find a room where you can just... sit and watch people, its window was like a two-way mirror, where you could see out, but nobody knew you were in there. I think it was one of the yellow buildings, but I always thought that was really creepy. I feel like if you had found that, there would have been something there, heck maybe there are more of those with it being a scary haunted map.
I know exactly which one you're talking about. There's actually a little side area to the building with a door that teleports you up into the room. I got hundreds of sniper kills in battle Royale servers on this map haha.
I remember playing GM Big City alone long time ago, and having to stop playing because the feeling of creepiness became too much. It was like 2 AM at the time which made the feeling just a little creepier.
There actually is a built in jumpscare on gm_bigctiy at near one of the doors on the side of the map, it scared me so goddamn much as a kid when i went around pressing E on everything by boredom.
Also at the Baltic cafe near spawn if you interact with the door you get pushed back with a loud sound playing, I believe the sound is one from the stalkers.
i like how, in vr, garrys mod seems as if your a real human, like look at how The Librarian at 5:02 , someone would have like, the same pose and reaction in real life, and the models top it off

The noises of gm_bigcity is what scared me, also try using this addon in VR G-man Obunga [NextBot] it dosen't jumpscare, it just follows you and eventually kills you. Kinda like the creature from It Follows
There was also the cafe jumpscare.
Would like to thank this man for giving me a reason to use the zoom effect on UA-cam by pointing out the black spec above the sewer tunnel
Around 20:42 I think that you can hear someone walking over the wood floor, but the sound is very weak.
yea
Your right
sounds like machinery or a chopper
"distance memory" then he proceeded to look at the twin towers
On the second map, its scarier not seeing anything happen.
You're expecting to be scared. To see something. And when nothing happens, it leaves you with more anticipation, making the upcoming scare, if at all, thrilling.
Even if there IS no scare, the fact alone of knowing "this map is haunted" but nothing happens is unsettlimg enough. Its playing a horror game without any jumpscares at all.
“Speaking of distant memories” then proceeds to suspiciously look directly at two towers
the original of this series brought me to this channel, so happy to see more!
30:57 - perfect material for Scare Reel #3 right there! 🤣
I never did catch what made him jump so bad 😅
30:55
@@belle4424 the sound
A large factor of fear that many exclude Is anticipation. Also that door laugh that scared you sounded like an elite from halo ce. They laugh at you when they kill you
Nah that laugh is in the original map. It's just father grigori from Half-Life 2 pitch-shifted.
@@cookiecreeperplayzthat's nice to know
Ah yes gm_bigcity, a map where a peaceful game of sandbox turns into a warzone. Great video as always.
Spot on! Use to play on that map so much a long time ago! 😅😆👍🏻
Love them.
Try Lidar. It's a garry's mod gamemode.
17:15 this was part of the map, I remember when my friend first showed me when we were building a base into that spot lol

I like how he starts with getting scared alot by those jumpscares and then turning into “AAAAYYYY MA BOI”
You are my favorite UA-camr to watch high. There's something so calming about seeing you walk through an empty city while talking about what makes gmod amazing
Hello Librarian!
There's this new small horror game on steam called "Lights Off!"
It's a game that embraces a common childhood fear of turning off the lights before bed, it's a really neat game and I think you'd get a kick out of it lol
The cadence of your voice and the way you edit make for such a calming presence. I love your vids and the nostalgia that comes with them. Keep it up bro you the goat!
This channel is my happy place. You have the air of an older brother introducing their younger sibling to something cool that will amaze them
11:39 why did that rhyme?
17:10 that’s actually a part of the real map, as well as some jump scare sound when you try to enter a door at some bistro
And a creepy talking gnome.
11:59 Not gonna lie, that sounds like the type of story that would actually make an interesting story
Its pretty much boy who cried wolf except there was a wolf and they didn’t believe him
@@brycegibson2886so the exact opposite of the boy who cried wolf

"STRANGER DANGER"
A lot of the dark areas with graffiti were a real spook for me as being unable to differentiate between colors made it look for me like shadows on the walls. I love these tours way more than the usual jump scare vid from other creator's , especially the exploration is what gets me so much as i get curious and excited and suddenly a shadow walks across the screen and i jump a little in my seat . Very amazing
Can you not differentiate between colors in real life or did you mean you couldn’t see the colors because it was too dark?
I don't comment on videos often but I have to admit that your channel is one of the only gameplay like channels I always come back to!
No needless big intro animation, just plain simple gameplay and your commentary :D I really appreciate this and I really hope to see more and more of your videos in the future.
Please stay the way you are! Your channel and videos have such a unique and comfy feeling to them!
Thank you for keeping me and others entertained! 💖
Omg, you NEED to play the LIDAR gamemode!!! Its terrifying

"seems like the place one might encounter candyman"
me (a lethal league player): "HAVE A JAWBREAKER"
why do i genuinely find him getting scared adorable
hello librarian, just wanted to say great stuff as always, and let you know how comforting these gmod videos in particular are, they really scratch the nostalgia itch as someone who spent countless hours in my young days just exploring maps and being obsessed with creepy shit. your commentary is always very nice and pleasant to listen to and ya 👌👌😎
This map feels like as if you are alone and everyone just disappeared all the sudden and looks like a maze. You tried to look everywhere but afriad that something will pop out near a corner and you will never be prepared for it.
it's just now occured to me that 20:35 is the cordon checkpoint from stalker
i am absolutely flabbergasted, how the hell have i played on this map so long and never once noticed this. outrage
guys surely you see this too, im not crazy right?
Yeah it looks to be the southernmost checkpoint nearest the rookie village, though it's not raining a hailstorm of bullets at you like in Clear Sky.
@@Muster_Muckee_II or a megaphone blasting
@@pepper5603 Yep, that was the first thing that came into my mind when I saw this. It's copied almost to a tee, maybe except for missing objects.
the commentary, the spooky vibes, and the fact that this is in vr makes it a masterpiece! well done!
I love as soon as he says Candy Man, he just shuts up like he knows he fucked up.
Speaking of the Twin Towers & the Intrepid, my great grandfather was actually stationed on the Intrepid during WW2 or right after, but he served from 42 to late late 1940’s.
16:36 dude this genuinely scared me because my brightness on my phone was so low that when he did the movement with his finger, i thought that it was a dark figure ragdolling towards you😭😭😭😭 this video really has me paranoid, good job creator💀
11:25 - Librarian's first words! :D _(I genuinely found it funny how, for just a short moment, Librarian could not form a single word for a few seconds.)_
17:09 - This part has, as far as I am aware of, always been a part of the original gm_bigcity map.
Yes the father gregori laugh is in the original as well as a screamer door, and a hidden gnome that asks you to put it down when picked up and screams when hit.
16:59 this is an easter egg that already existed in the original map
I like that he said speaking of distant memories, right as he was looking at the two big TOWERS.
You're so close to 100K!!! Keep up the good work man!
"Bill cosby is gonna go bungee jumping"
- The Librarian
my first video of yours was the haunted gmod maps, and since then ive been watching all your gmod vids.
7:33 Now that's a perfect example of a missed opportunity!
At least something peeking out of the whole all of a sudden or something
"And speaking of distant memories"
*stares directly at the two towers*
your voice is so nice man, like im really going through a rough time as im watching this video and its almost soothing in a way, thanks a lot, great vid :3
The maps are scary because they're similar or usually places where humans or someone else would be, but there's nobody. I'm petty sure there's a phobia for this as well.
yes,i have it,the spaces are called 'liminal spaces' and many people are scared of them
Shii its like when ur one of the last people leaving school when ur a kid and dont see anyone in some places that is usually full of people
17:05 to answer your question, yes, that's always been apart of the map.
I've always imagined rp_bigcity as a haunted map. Good to see it here!
*gm_bigcity* and it does already have a jumpscare hidden as well as a creepy talking gnome.
@@cookiecreeperplayz I know, but aside of that.
im not a gmod map maker, but i think the background sounds "such as police car sirens" aren't used for scaring, yet to de-focus the player "make the player stop focusing on the thing they are doing" and rather make them look for the source of the sound.
Hello Librarian, a REALLY good game that you should play is Anemoiapolis. It is a game focused on liminal spaces and i would absolutely love watch you play it!
This is so cool it's like a vlog from some other dimension
Hey! There’s a popular game mode right now called LIDAR. I think you should try it out.
He explored these in VR. This concludes that he has balls of steel
10:53 I remember that location was featured in one of Vanoss Gaming's Gmod videos!
Not really important information though, but it was fun to watch.
31:00, Librarians voice cracks from fear.
so happy to see all these years later that people got these sorts of vibes just from the map/level. Freespace was one of those for me back in 2012.
I remember playing GM Big City alone long time ago, and having to stop playing because the feeling of creepiness became too much. It was like 2 AM at the time which made the feeling just a little creepier.
Omega Man is one of my favorite 70's movies and this is also the vibe I get from this.
Hey librarian I recently stumbled upon a mod called "LIDAR" I think it would be a cool spooky mod to try out on maps if you'd like
Watching these videos and the commentary is both haunting and calming
There actually is a built in jumpscare on gm_bigctiy at near one of the doors on the side of the map, it scared me so goddamn much as a kid when i went around pressing E on everything by boredom.
There are a few addons that if installed and start a game, get ready for an immediate scare
You are so brave. I could never explore a haunted map for long. the original map creeps me out enough. and you are even doing it in VR
7:10 Yes that spook was part of the original map, the laughing is of half life 2 Father Grigori's laugh pitched down.
Also at the Baltic cafe near spawn if you interact with the door you get pushed back with a loud sound playing, I believe the sound is one from the stalkers.
you forgot the 1 before the 7
17:10
Ambient noise and lack thereof can be so eerily unsettling
i like how, in vr, garrys mod seems as if your a real human, like look at how The Librarian at 5:02 , someone would have like, the same pose and reaction in real life, and the models top it off
Nice username
