I'm going to get burned at the stake for this, but if Marilyn had played the part, it would have been "Breakfast Bimbo at Tiffany's". Audrey was a classy, girl next door, kind of beautiful. She had IQ & heart as well as natural beauty. Marilyn was nothing but pure sex appeal in my opinion.
@@redlinemando To be fair, Marilyn only played dumb roles because that's all they would give her. Her roles in films such as "River of no return" and "let's make love" do somewhat show her talents in other roles. So, given the opportunity, I think she would've done ok as Holly in breakfast at Tiffany's. Though, nobody does it like Audrey.
@@MeowPants28 You're right!!!! It's sooo obvious & I should have thought of that. I'd never heard of those movies, but I'll have to watch them. It's very sad to think that she had the talent to play better roles & yet got cast as the definitive "dumb blonde" stereotype. It hadn't really dawned on me (when I wrote that comment) that the directors would cast her only by looks & not by talent at all. Guess one side of my brain was numb that day. lol You've educated me on a couple of her films & gave me a different point of view to think of. Thank you for giving a fair argument instead of the usual rage ppl seem to spew on YT these days. Have a good one & keep on educating ppl. Have a sub as well.
I have to say, he does make sense though! Is "the powder room", e.g., refering to cocain or not, we don't know, still the image's supposed to creep in when you watch the movie, and Audrey Hepburn is seriously not carrying that notion, neither being the lover of an older at adolescent age, even stealing something from a 5 and 10 store, nope. It's a classic, most likely just not the one Capote wrote. ;)
I was born in 82 & I agree!! That kid from the 90's has a lot of common sense!!!! These days actresses have to cake on the makeup & show plenty of skin.
Angel Michael i suppose your right. But Marilyn was more than a dumb blonde. She played the part well and was very bright and shy. She wasn't a slut. She just wanted to find love and she fell for the wrong people. She was very innocent and men took advantage of that. Audrey is one of the most iconic people of the 20th century and its not that she doesn't get any credit. Its just that her entire life wasn't in front of a camera like Marilyn's was. But I agree with you that Audrey was a very selfless human being.
My favorite Audrey Hepburn movie is "How To Steal A Million" (1966). She played the daughter of an art counterfeiter, and was paired with Peter O'Toole as her love interest. A very nice comedy.
I was about to comment the same thing. Audrey Hepburn's mother did NOT support fascism. In fact it devided her parents and eventually led to their separation.
She was a smoker, quantity indications differening though ("from 6 to 60/day"...). She's a prime example of what never occurred to me before: See, many European youth started smoking because of what they perceived as role models during/after WWII, which were of course soldiers. Audrey and I suppose many others, however, connected the smell of cigarettes with freedom - you know, what the Germans smoked with perpetual occupation was neither attracting, nor pleasing in quality, the Brits and American troops brought that in though, "freedom, joy, relaxation", there it actually was, yep.
Audrey Hepburn is my favourite actress in the 50s - 60s era. My favourite films of her in it are Roman Holiday (1953), Sabrina (1954), Breakfast at Tiffany’s (1961), Charade (1963) and Two for the Road (1967)
Very interesting video. Despite being "before my time," I always admired Audrey Hepburn. She appeared classy, polished and attractive. One of her best quotes: "For beautiful eyes, look for the good in others. For beautiful lips, speak only words of kindness. For poise, walk with the knowledge that you are never alone."
Very nice tribute to the late great beautiful inside and out Audrey Hepburn, a great actress and humanitarian who ironically in some ways had much in common with the late great beautiful inside and out Jackie Kennedy Onassis! Both were born the same year, had parents who had divorced, troubled relationships with their fathers, were married twice to famous successful men and ended up with a third partner in life, both suffered miscarriages because they were BOTH chain smokers and it's been proven now that chain smoking can cause miscarriages and the lung disease that premature babies have like Patrick Bouvier Kennedy. Happened in my own family as well with other family members! They also were influenced by Givenchy and Jackie wanted to originally be dressed by Givenchy but the Kennedys wanted her to pick an American designer so she went with Oleg Cassini who ironically was once engaged to the equally beautiful inside and out late great Grace Kelly aka Princess Grace of Monaco!! And both Audrey and Jackie died around the same age, a year apart from each other and both died from cancers due to smoking etc. Thanks for sharing...miss all three Audrey, Jackie and Grace! May they rest in peace~
A combination of inner and outer beauty, refinement and aristocracy, a fragile appearance and a strong character, an extraordinary mind and a huge heart - all this is Audrey. If there are angels in human form on Earth, Audrey was certainly one of them. A delightful woman. From Russia with love.
Beautiful, graceful and an amazing inspiration!!💕My favorite movie has to be Breakfast at Tiffany's because of the music, scenery, plot and classic scenes and outfits!!✨💐🌸
my fav movie of hers is Funny Face because 1. Fred Astaire is also one of my fav people to watch and the fact that they made a movie together is great. 2. musically its amazing 3. every look they put on her in that film is gorgeous. 4. its in color.
"Audrey Hepburn was a style and fashion icon," ....Who in the Hell didn't know that?? According to multiple biographies, she had a serious relationship with President (then Senator), Kennedy and he almost married her before Jackie, but his family thought it would harm his political career.
Areesha Shams Memon - Yes, Marilyn was rumoured to have an affair with two of the Kennedy brothers (Jack and Bobby). JFK, however, according to some of the Kennedy bios I've read; was dating Audrey before even meeting Jackie. He was apparently planning to propose but his father, Joe, convinced him it would be political suicide to propose to a Hollywood actress. One of the bios I read said he kept a pic of Audrey in his wallet or on his person a majority of the time and considered her, "the one that got away,". It was before Jackie, unlike Marilyn, and was described as a more legitimate relationship than affair. Of course, these are bios written long after the parties passed, so I don't know if it's true but it's still an interesting tidbit that it' s even a rumour. I'm interested to see if it's mentioned in a bio about Audrey I recently bought.
Alux.com Thanks for this video. I enjoyed "Roman Holiday" again today. I've had a crush on Audrey Hepburn since I was 12 after first viewing this movie back in 1967. To this day, I believe she was the most beautiful woman I've ever seen and so warm and charming.

I'm glad I recently got a DVD of Bloodline from Amazon , ive been watching it almost everynite since.hooray for these 2 departed actor and actress.i just love them in this movie!!
I suggest you check your facts of Audrey's early life in England. I went to school with Audrey in early 1940 but cannot in all honesty remember her as she was 5 years older than me. My cousin who is older than me , can remember her as a rather shy little girl and was called Audrey Ruston - taking her father's surname at the time. Her mother's name was Edda van Heemstra, not Audrey's. She returned to Holland in early May 1940 just before the German invasion and adopted her mother's surname as it was less English sounding and therefore safer than Ruston.
Roman Holiday and My Fair Lady. I also really love this one suspense movie she was in where she had to play a blind character. I happened to see the latter half of it on PBS once, but I never for the name of it

The World is less mágical, less beautiful without her. If I were to pic a favorite movie from her it would be "The Nun's Story" although "Alone in the Dark" was also magnificently performed by her.
I love Breakfast At Tiffany's - its my favourite
Rodrigo Lopez Santos "Alone in the Dark"? I think you're thinking of "Wait Until Dark".
Her bangs are fucked up but she pulls it off...like wow.
my fair lady is, by far the best movie ever!
