Won't be going to waste. UP is getting an emissions credit unit this. All the major parts were removed off the unit. These parts will go on a new frame being built at EMD.
my office is across the track from this site; the gantries were being packed up this morning to move to the museum to take the locomotive off of the trailer and move it to the museum display pad.
Excellent video friend, let's hope that by next year or sometime this year the beautiful #4141 will circulate again and polish the rails because it is a beautiful locomotive. Like 116.
Sure hate to see the 4141 leave the rails. It would be nice if the Union Pacific would of kept this unit for excursions with big boy 4014 or with some other steamers like the N&W 611, SP 4449, Nickel Plate Road 765, etc. The paint job of 4141 would be great to see with those steamers, or bring it up to PA for when the R&N gets 2102 running! UP 4141 would look excellent with R&N 2102. Challenger 3985 would be nice with the 4141 as well if it was still in service but unfortunately, 3985 needs a rebuild since the last ride back in 2010, footage showed that it needs a complete rebuild. I bet the UP would get 3985 going again, and that would go great with the 4014 because the 4014 and 3985 are the largest steam locomotives built. Oh well, UP you could of kept the 4141 for nice excursions instead of taking it to a library where it would just sit on display gathering dust. At least they got the 1943, 1111, and their six heritage units. Norfolk Southern would of kept a unit like this in service!
Awesome video. It was exciting to see 4141 lifting up by cranes in College Station. I wish I knew it was happening and beg my parents to drive from Frisco to College Station to see this awesome action. I will miss 4141 from revenue service. Btw do u spot in the BNSF line in Frisco?
Thanks! I used to hang by the BNSF in Frisco all the time when I lived there, but now that I've moved to College Station I hardly ever get to see any BNSF up there anymore.
I did not even know this existed until his death. went and found a picture on the internet and now have it along with about 400 other train pictures on my laptop. I change them too a different one once a week.
Sad to see such a awesome loco go to waste. Would have honored him more to have had it running the rail and being kept up

Thanks! Unfortunately it will never see a mainline again as it will be a permanent museum exhibit.
Perfect end for such a historical locomotive. I hope it enjoys its new life there!
Must have been cool to see sounds like there is a lot on the UP Navaosta Sub more than the Choctaw and Duncan Subdivision
Some of that traffic actually comes down this way!
Our HO scale 4141 is on display tracks in the gun cabinet. 🚂🚃🚃🚃🇨🇦🇺🇲
4141 is such a treasure!
Great work filming all this. Makes me wonder if the pavilion they’ll be keeping the loco on is covered...
Thank you. Supposedly they're going to build a structure around both this and Marine 1 to where they are closed off from the weather and inside.
That was interesting, thanks for posting.
Very cool, thank you! Glad it's going home!
I can't wait til it's officially on display for the public.

Great capture of that moment
Thank you!
Sure wish I'd known about this. Definitely worth the drive from Houston
Watch your pinch points, that’s a 415,000 pound locomotive.
Will people be able to go on board it ?
Not sure
I'm going to see that Train today or tomorrow
Good luck. I’m not sure how accessible it will be at the museum
@@DFWTrains ok
Why did they gut the motor 😕😐 its only 16 years old it still can be used as special heritage locomotive
They might use its guts and give them to UP 1995 - it’s a rumor
@@DelmarLysolfan is 1995 still OOS?

UP didn’t run it much when he was alive. It was kept under a tarp in Pine Bluff for quite a while.
I don't like when you do stuff like that that means he'll never run again
Will it still be operational? Or will it be on static display?
Union Pacific gutted the motor and it was dead in tow all the way from Pine Bluff to here. It will be on static display at the museum.
@@DFWTrains aww man. Still it’ll be cool to see
Good info, I fig'd UP wouldn't let that SD70ACe go with that prime mover intact
