The question "should you spend extra couple of hundreds?" should be answered by where you live. Here in Europe (Romania) the price for the 12R is around 750 euros in stores and for the 12 is around 1150. So...the real question: wireless charging, only one extra year of OS updates, the latest SOC, better cameras are really worth 400 extra euros?
@@Artus1890 Romanian prices...always high. I guess taxes and profit margin.
I got the 16 gb 256gb variant for 580 euro here is romania
@@victorlincurve675 Prices went down since one month ago, ofcourse.
I agree with you. I live in the USA and the base OP12 around $100 more than the 12R and so I am going to get the 12. I read posters like you and the price differences on phones to the USA absolutely change the whole choice or even if getting a One Plus phone is the best deal. Everyone has their own situation to deal with and it is good that people post issues, whether good or bad, so people like me learn different perspectives. The phone review expert in the reputable article I read pointed out the price differences in different countries but stated for around $100 more that the One Plus 12 was highly recommended to buy in the USA for the extras it offeres...I am no expert but that is what I call a ni brainer for my situation. I do not need extra RAM or Memory if I used the extra $ of the $100 on a upgraded 12R vs the base version 12...so everyone has their own choices to make and I wish everyone to be be able to get the phone that makes them 😁 happy. Pros and cons to everything! Life is trade offs.
Edit...no brainer LOL It is 4:20 AM here and my brain is not working yet.
First off, the premise for this video is flawed. The OnePlus 12R is not a budget phone. In fact, it's a high tier mid-range device. It features last year's Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 generation 2 chipset with the A740 GPU. Those are flagship level specifications. In addition, that is the same CPU and GPU that was utilized in last year's 1 + 11 and the Samsung Galaxy s23 ultra.
By definition, a budget phone is a device that costs under $400 and does not feature that level of specifications. Generally the CPU is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 or 7 series processor. At the moment, the base model of the 12r width 8 gigabytes of RAM and 128 GB of storage can be purchased at the pre-sale price of $399.99. However, that is just the out of the gate price and when it's over the device will cost $499.99. conversely, the higher model that features 12 gigabytes of RAM with 256 gigabytes of storage can be pre-ordered for $499.99. Again, that is the out of the gate price and when it's over the price will go up to $599.99 for that model. Furthermore, there is no model of the 12r that offers 512 gigabytes of storage as you mistakenly claimed in this video.
OnePlus does offer a budget device for this market that does cost under $400. It's known as the OnePlus Nord N30. It costs around $300 depending on where you're purchasing it from and features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 chipset. In other words, budget specifications.
By the way, if you need more RAM to drive your device simply open the settings menu go to about device. Tap on RAM and activate the ram swapper. It will allow you to borrow memory from the ROM and utilize it as ram. I hope that helps you out.
@@HugoTheLigar these are common sense classifications. Under $400 is a budget phone. From $401 to $700 is mid-range. From $701 and up is considered a flagship. If you disagree with that, more power to you.

In USA ..you can get 12R upgrade ran/memory for $539 and then take off $100 recycle discount and get upgraded version of 12R for $439. There are other discounts too so less than $439!!! If you are in USA market than keep checking with One Plus site because there are different deals going on and you definitely should know about them. Retailers are really pulling some scams on some sites and over pricing.
In what world is a $500~$600 a "budget" phone?
400$ in official site
@@TimAtyrau I was going by MSRP, but let me rephrase that with discounts included.
In what world is a $400~$500 a "budget" phone?
For rich 😂😂
I got it for 250 USD 😂
@jeanlezard7830 lol 😆 haha
This phone 📱 in Canada 🇨🇦 is $669 & $799 plus tax that's without any trade-ins gotta love are prices here in Canada 🙄🤨
The storage options are 8GB/128GB and 16GB/256GB
There is a USA special in the 256 OP 12R with $70 off so add recycle discount and you can get the upgrade 12R for around $439!!! Plus you may be eligible for more discounts like $30 off OnePlus email coupon code.
The base ram/memory OP12 is around $100 more where I live so I am getting that. Base OP12 has all the Ram and Memory I need and the OP12 has the extras over 12Rbthat are well worth $100 more IMO. I am going to get the wireless charger and earbuds too...hope One Plus runs a special in a month or two or later this year when, and if, the hype in the 12 and 12R goes down. Around here there seems to be more interest in these phones and they look like real phone market shakers. Google, Samsung and Apple must be getting nervous.
Hello! Is the sound on Oneplus 12r loud? Is the sound even from both speakers? Or is there more sound from the bottom speaker?
Not too bad. Not bad at all. I got the Oneplus 11 and i dont care about thr cameras. Might be worth trying for fun
I bought the chinese rom, as i live in the Philippines, 256GB and UFS 4.0 12 gb Ram. Makes a huge difference same price too
If this is a budget phone then the 12 is the mid-ranger? 🤦♂
Just by you calling it a budget phone I instantly lost all interest in the phone
Oneplus ace 3 (china model) has ufs 4. So buy oneplus ace 3 then flash it to global oxygenOs
This phone truly looks amazing and I'm truly curious to try it
Does anyone actually keep a phone 7 years.
Google lag. Chrome lag? UA-cam lag?
For 420 cad… yes.
Snapdragon 8 gen 2 it's efficient??? Like seriously 🫨
This is not a budget phone, it is a mid ranger. A budget phone is under 300 dollars.
How is a 700€ phone considered budget in any shape or form???
It’s cheaper here in America.
8mp ultrawide is a shitty one, its too big of a redflag for me
👏👏👏👏🙌🙌🙌🙌
$600 for a no name Chinese phone 😂
no thanks just pay the $800 for iPhone 15
No name that has been around years and produces solid gear and a phone that destroys the iPhone that you're paying a lot more for.
No name? It's more likely that you live under a rock, and only know of Apple.
also, I'll add that Oneplus has the worst support in the world. If u buy this, u better pray to God u never have an issue. If u have an issue ever at any point you'll be out $500
Had to return mine in the 14 day period! Absolutely no issues at all in the UK
