Best flashback ever for this show. It’s good writing and acting when a 2-minute backstory manages to flesh out a character this well. The casting of then parents is spot on, especially the Mom. She and Rebecca have very similar mannerisms.

What were they supposed to do? She attempted to harm her teacher and would’ve done the same to them if they would have told her that they were sending her away. She was obviously already mentally disturbed before her parents had her taken away. Sentinel services isn’t a nice place but the things she was doing were terrible.

I never thought of this before, but mutant powers manifest under stress, right? Maybe rebecca’s manifested around the teacher. Something that they did to make her powers manifest. They explored that subject with Lauren, even though her powers had already manifested, so I don’t see why Rebecca couldn’t be the same way. And they said, nearly killed. They couldn’t have stopped Rebecca if she wanted to kill her teacher, they are humans. So it was probably an accident.
She's a victim. Always remember monsters are not born, they are created. It's not her fault tbh. This is simple nature vs. nurture. Everyone around her made her an evil person.

Maybe this episode wasn't showing all of it. The physiatrist also said the collar had no effect on her. Maybe she turned her parents and those officers inside out after they put the collar on her and then more help came to subdue her and sent her to the hospital.
mutant or not, your child attempted to kill her teacher. you came to know about it. what would you do? they just thought sentinel services would put her in jail where she couldn't hurt nobody anymore. they didn't know they would put her in a mental hospital that tortures mutants.
Ok but we dont consider what the teacher mightve done. Such as molestation. Qe can tell from the vault killing and car scene after rebecca puts a smile over the twisted things that happen or she does so you never know.

You can see what Rebecca is able to do, especially in the bank scene. If she really wants to kill someone, with her power, no one can stop her, not even mutants (with Andy it's just because of the kind of power he has), so it's impossible with a bunch of humans in any circumstances. So Rebecca didn't intend to kill her teacher before, because if she did, there wouldn't have been no "nearly" here and the teacher would've been dead already. It was an accident, maybe she was angry and lost her control, then stopped it before it got too far. Or her teacher hurt her and she just tried to fight back. I don't know. But my point is she never did born that way, as a psycho, evil one. What happened to her, just like Andy and Lorna said, that her family scared of her mutant power (or they just believe what people said about mutants and what-they-thought-she-did without even trying to listen from their own daughter's perspective) so they betrayed her and send her away, to the place she got locked up and tortured for years. And it broke her. That's why she became that way. She was once a sweet, innocent and happy girl who didn't deserve any of that.
