- The F-22 Raptor Just Got a Shocking Upgrade to Become More Terrifying Than Ever!
The Raptor’s upcoming enhancements will unlock new capabilities, some of which have been in development for a long time. Notably, these upgrades include the deployment of an advanced infrared search and track (IRST) system. Originally planned for the F-22 but abandoned due to budget constraints decades ago, this feature is now making a comeback. Our exclusive reporting covers the F-22 Raptor’s transformation as it enters the latter part of its operational life. Recently, a concept image of the F-22’s revised external stores configuration emerged from the Pentagon.
As it stands currently, the approximately 180 F-22s will be replaced by the crewed Next Generation Air Dominance (NGAD) aircraft, for which the USAF intends to acquire 200 units. The existing F-22 Raptors are now acting as a testing ground for NGAD technologies. Features developed under the broader NGAD initiative may also find their way into the F-22 before the NGAD tactical jet becomes fully operational.

Too bad she's retiring very soon.
The timeframe is to fly deep into the 2030's. Enough 6thgen have to be made to lower the number of F22's is taken down now.
Su-57 is loaded out with IRST. What happened America??? You should also get rid of those gigantic vertical stabilizers on your "stealth" fighter. Oh, that's right. No all aspect thrust vectoring to create dihedral stability, huh? Plan to incorporate those too?
Budget cuts got you chasing your own tail now doesn't it! Yet how much is the Raptors pricetag?
