      Jesus was created by the christians decades after his supposed life ended. Nothing about the biblical Jesus is true. That's why you need faith, so you can trick yourself into believing something that is otherwise simply unbelievable. Belief without evidence = faith. Santa Claus is just as real. Keep your money, make Frank Turek get a real job.

    It's not a "moral question", it's just that it doesn't make any sense. If God wants a relationship with you, why is he absent? If Frank is going to use analogies like if a guy likes a girl but the girl doesn't like the guy, he can't force her to like him. Then if a parent wants a relationship with a child, why would they never spend time with them? A child needs a parent to be actually present in their lives, not just sends money every month and gives them toys frequently or send them a letter every other week saying how much they love them. They need to actually be with them and spend time with them. If a person claimed to be a parent but you never met them in person or even spoke to them on the phone but instead you just received money, toys and letters that claimed their love for you and lots of other nice things, would that be enough to build an actual loving relationship on? I believe most people would question if that parent on the other end really exists because a person who cares deeply for their child would not be that absent from their life if they could help it.

The only point of reference the ancient Hindus had was was their pantheon of 300 million gods. The God of Israel is not in that pantheon. How is the Hindu supposed to make the enormous leap from seeing creation and then ascribing it to the God of Israel, when he didn't know where the middle east was, didn't know where Israel was, and didn't even know what a jew was? Really the only thing that can be said about this question, frank pretty much covered. God only revealing himself to part of the world has nothing to do with whether or not it’s true. That doesn’t tamper with the evidence in any way. And Acts chapter 17 does make it clear that God has ordered the time and place that people would be born in such a way that everyone will have the best chance possible to come to him. So the people who “don’t hear” would not have believed anyway. And who’s to say they don’t hear in the first place? We don’t know what happens in their mind. God could come to them in a dream or whatever it may be. But yeah frank handled it the best he could in my opinion

    GOD, probably, recognize's that we are imperfect/sinful human beings... Thus, he also recognize's that we won't always be able to get the Good News out to everyone.
    ---
    I'm reminded of an island, in a bay in the Indian ocean, that is off limits to visitors. Not just because of the government, but because of the hostile tribe living there. At some point in the last couple of years, a Christian missionary tried to land on the island to attempt to spread the word about Jesus. The tribe killed him. (May have Ate him too.) There has literally been, no other contact with the tribe in decades. We're not going to be able to get to them by human efforts. Short of invasion.
    ---
    So I expect, GOD is handling it. Himself. Because his perfection (His perfect LOVE, and perfect Justice...), would demand no less!
    Sorta like how he has to have been handling all the Miscarriages, Abortions, & Children's Deaths, over the millennia.

    Frank, im hearing so much about "predestination" which is all new to me. What are your thoughts on total depravity and predestination in the way Calvanists believe it to be scriptural?

    • @crazyworld54321
      @crazyworld54321 5 років тому +7

      Calvinism isn't something to get bogged down with. Follow Jesus Christ through the Holy Spirit and listen to God's testimony given to us in the Bible. You'll never need more than that. Anyone who says otherwise is selling something.
      Calvinists will muddy the water by arguing valid points in invalid manner and application.
      Total depravity exists within our flesh for sure...as Paul said "in my flesh dwells no good thing". But spiritually we are reborn and become a new creation. This happens even while being in a totally depraved state. The outward man is dead and cast away, the inward man is born again and will live for all eternity as a friend and child of God. Our actions should reflect this new creation we become.
      And in Calvinism predestination tends to be more tilted toward the notion that God simply chose people based on nothing and no real merit. Seemingly random. In actuality each person is called according to their own actions and free will to repent of their sins and serve God.
      The Book of Life was written and sealed before the earth was formed. So of course God preordained everything. But we also know that God wants WILLING servants. That means our own free will to come to God on His own terms and be led by His Spirit. God is unchanging. The same yesterday, today, and forever.
      Calvinists have some reasonable talking points, but ultimately fail under full Biblical scrutiny. I won't go so far as to say they aren't Christians, but I have my skepticism and take each one subjectively. There are a few points in which they seem to have a misunderstanding of what the Bible would appear to be very plainly and openly teaching, and that is a problem.

    • @youngnixx88788
      @youngnixx88788 5 років тому +3

      Easy question to ask a Calvanist:
      The Bible says whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved (Rom 10:13 KJV)
      Ask them if they've ever called upon the name of the Lord for salvation

    • @duartepaintinghandymanservices
      @duartepaintinghandymanservices 5 років тому

      total depravity is wrong because calvanism teaches that is impossible for us to get saved without God giving us saving faith to start with, they basically claiming God saves only who he wants to save contradicting clear passages from the bible example John 3:16 God so Love the world that he gave his only son for "whosoever" believes in him shall not persish. whosoever means anyone not just some as they claim. even if God gives you faith to believe in him, they also believe that if you die away from God it was a sign that you had faith but not saving faith, so is a works based religion.
      predestination as taught by calvanism also teaches that God already knows those are will be saved because according to them God already chosed them to be saved, but thats not the case, again God knows who those that will be saved already because God is not bound by time as we are, so God knows because he can see it already not because he made that decision for you. all them that choose to believe in Christ have already been predestined to be saved, those that dont believe in Christ have already been predestined to go to hell.
      I would suggest to stay away from calvanism and also dont take my word, please inform yourself because knowledge is power. if you have no knowledge of the word you can be easily fooled by false religions.

      crazyworld54321 anyone who believe that their christian life wilm determin their destination isn't a christian, we are not saved by living holy or following the commandments or going to church, we are saved through Christ alone and has nothing to do with our obedience to God after we trust Christ. works and our obedience discipleship and fellowship will only determine our rewards in heaven, we need to learn to separate the two, salvation comes by trusting Christ.
      rewards come from serving Christ.
      you can be a disciple and still not be a christian.
      you can be a Christian and not be a disciple.
      also repent of sin isnt bliblical.
      repent in the greek is two words meta-noa it means a change of mind, it doesnt mean what the english translation means, to feel sorry or to turn away from sin.
      dont ever use that term when trying to witness to anyone, telling someone they need to feel sorry or to turn away from sin implies they need to do something of their own to be able to get to heaven which is considered a works, which the bible says we are not saved by works or by ourself otherwise we would have something to brag about. ephesians 2:8-9

You have no way of knowing. You’re justifying your doubt with cynicism. “Maybe that secluded tribe never heard about God” says who? They’re secluded. You’d rather believe they didn’t, just because you wholeheartedly believe God doesn’t exist?

      The thing is Nori that God reveals himself and his intentions with you but not as literally as you might want him to. I'm sure you've heard that God works in such mysterious ways that humans like us could not possibly comprehend therefore he is not going to literally appear in a cloud and talk to you or something along those lines (It is a pretty mundane, human way to think about it). Sometimes he might talk/show himself to you more meaningfully through an event, a situation, a conflicting decision, a person (whether that is a family member, a friend, a coworker, etc), an opportunity, an experience, etc. All these things can be tests to improve/ explore your character to see what you can change or where you can grow. If He was absolutely literal every time with every one and showed his true form, we wouldn't have the capacity to even process it, there'd be no faith involved and most people would believe out of convenience or intimidation rather than true conviction in God.
      Just to be clear, I respect the fact that you've taken a more agnostic perspective on this issue (I myself have had doubts sometimes), I'm just trying to present you a different perspective on this in case you have not considered it. Glad you're keeping an open mind on being proven wrong, that is important when having these conversations.

    • @nori_tutor
      @nori_tutor Рік тому

      I do accept the idea that if any divine creator exists, it is way beyond my understanding. So it wouldn't probably act as I expected. But if I can be honest with you, the Old Testament shows a God that is rather pretty mundane. But let's not talk about the Old Testament lol, that is rather a extensive topic.
      Keep in mind that if God showed himself to humanity more clearly, it would NOT violate people's free will, if he was to limit himself. If that wasn't the case, how would one justify the stories in the bible itself where people saw a pillar of fire, bread falling from heaven, the sea being split in two, and they yet decided not to follow God. So no, if God showed Himself better there would still be room for free will.
      Now, you said God could show Himself to me through more subtle ways, in day-to-day life situations. While I understand your point and appreciate your perspective I must say if I'm expected to believe in the Christian God based on noticing the small things, I might never believe in Him. For the one who believes in Allah, everything testifies of Allah to him, when you really believe it, and look for it with belief, it's quite possible you will eventually perceive small things, conversations and situations as coming from your god. Now, what about a supernatural event which is independent of belief?
      You know, I always try to keep an open mind that there might be a God. And this God could be an unknown god, or your god. But the thing is, I know quite a bit about the flaws in the Jew faith. Not only that, I also know quite a bit of the problems in the Christian faith too. In order for me to simply deny those evidences against the Jewish/Christian religion and start believing in God I would need much more than just a "Small situation with a coworker."
      I'm truly sorry, but I think I could never believe in Christianity again without the Christian God proving me he's real. YHWH is indeed as hidden as Vishnu. Vishnu isn't real, and if YHWH is real, I desperately want to know why He lets people down here be in such a confusion about gods. I mean, according the bible, God will show Himself VERY clearly to everyone in the judgement day. So he hides himself throughout our history and then shows up when there is no longer time to repent?

    • @andresdanielem
      @andresdanielem Рік тому +2

      @@nori_tutor I understand and respect your perspective mate. Thank you for sharing it respectfully. If you want something more grandiose or literal I hope you get it one day like I did.
      About the second paragraph, you can see how even when God showed himself people still rejected him, so it shows how us humans have a tendency to sin and be rebellious in most cases, that's why we need Jesus. On your fourth paragraph, the explanation I would give is that it is part of what I mentioned earlier, our rebellious, sinful nature. God even explicitly says "don't worship other gods" to Israel and people still did it. And by other gods I don't mean just the likes of Anubis, Bahal, etc, a god can also be material things or fame, money, a possession, etc (something you give it an exaggerated amount of importance or value more than everything else). People set the confusion themselves when God gave them a way to see things more clearly. Also that "small situation with a coworker" is one of the many ways God speaks, he's also present in more impactful or complex experiences/ decisions/ events.
      Could you go in more depth about what do you mean by a "supernatural event independent from belief"?. I apologize if I take long to answer your next response, I have to sleep and do other things lol.

      Jeffrey Stern God doesn’t reveal Himself differently to different people. There is a truth and then there is how one interprets the truth. I think the Houston Rockets are the best basketball team, you might think the Miami Heat are the best. The truth is that the Warriors are because they won the championship. Mormons fell to believe in a false prophet who claimed to change the game on the Bible 1800 years after Christ. A quick study will show how messed up that belief is.Jehovah Witness were given a false believe from a man named Charles Taze Russell. They obliterated the Bible with their own version that takes away the Deity of Christ. Muhammad claimed to get some game changer from the angel Gabriel 600 years after Christ so he switched things up and started a cult following. I could keep going and going as Religion is what I study. The truth is that God gave us his word in writing and even warned that there would be false teachers, false doctrines etc. God provides truth but Lucifer is doing all he can to sprinkle falseness in the minds of man. It’s a shame because like the Bible says people give themselves over to their itching ears. Eternity is at stake. And yes, even in mainstream Christianity, different denominations that say tithing is correct or lead people to think that there is something else man needs to do to get on the same page as Christ. The TBN channel that shows “Christian” stuff all day is all false. The world looks at that and thinks that is what God wants. It’s not. The Joel Osteens, the Carl Lentz and all the false preachers out there....man it’s scary. The Bible says “my people perish for the lack of knowledge”. Over 40 authors wrote 66 books over a period of 1,600 years and it all reads as if one person wrote it. There is truth and worth searching for

Adam got separated from God lost his sonship (became son (slave) of satan), the beginning of death and satan took his authority to rule the earth. We are still living in that scenario.
      God made a way for man to get reconciled with him. God manifested in Adam's fallen state (flesh) to restore what Adam has lost, all we need to do is make a choice also. This time the choice is to reject satan and the influence he has over us and to ask Jesus Christ to save us from satan's bondage and to restore us into his image and likeness. Once Jesus resurrect your spirit, it is possible to reconnect with His Spirit and start having a personal relationship with our Father.

You are right, you can only love someone who you have a relationship with, that is exactly what God wants, just ask him to reveal himself to you.

    There's an explanation about why Jesus appeared as a human instead of in all of His glory as God that has always helped me. If God had shown up with trumpets ablaze and with all of His power and might, as He will when He comes again, leaving no question that this is God and we should believe in Him, then the whole world would certainly follow Him. But they might not follow Him out of love. They might believe in Him out of fear, out of pride in knowing that God chose them, or in wanting something from Him, but not because they love Him. God is only interested in relationships where we follow Him out of love. So He showed up, small and meek, as one of us, and slowly, as people fell in love with Him for who He was, He revealed that He was the King and Creator of the Universe and if we believed in Him then we would go and live with Him forever in an eternal kingdom. The KIND of relationship we have with God matters; only a relationship of love will do.

    To this atheist who asked the question, why did God only present himself to a few people living in the desert and not to more places around the world? Answer: You're talking to someone everyday about Jesus, what makes you think he hasn't revealed himself to you many times throughout your life? It's your choice not to see or believe. As for Jesus, his legend has outlived empires. For the Kingdom of God is like a mustard seed. One man, alone, without the aid of states or armies, stood up against the beliefs of literally the whole world at the time and they murdered him for the trouble. If Jesus wasn't God, you would have never heard of this man as many have made the same claims whose names no one knows nor cares about. Christianity shaped so much of the world, reshaped how we live with one another and how we try to treat one another, it's almost unbelievable that he could make such a massive impact on the world after only 3 years of teaching and you know, having to walk basically everywhere.
    And plus, you're talking about him, ain't ya?

    About the woman who survived Holocaust and rejected Jesus. First - you SURVIVED it. Second: if she is a jew, she might have rejected Jesus because she is a jew.
    Third, if not, then listen: if you angry at God for what is happening... you angry that it happened to you (if you're gonna play Mother Teresa and start this "i'm not sorry for me, but for others", for others you are other, so you mean yourself and what happended overall anyway), then WHY, if you believe and expect something of God, WHY are you NOT christian?
    Why are you waiting something from Him, but through magic wand and magic helper? And if you're not a christian - what do you EXPECT then? Because how are you going to LET Him be in your life? This is a HUGE logical problem and fallacy here.
    If you have in your heart "i would, but i don't know if He is real", then what will you loose to actually believe and ask Him something? But know people, that God CAN answer, but He will 100% answer if you are of Christ - belong to Him, because you applied Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour outloud with your mouth (Romans 10), and that's the only way.
    People at that time may be though that there is no God because of this war... wich people themselves did... well again - same logic goes to ANY of these people))) Why are you not christian and if not, what do you expect?
    And fourth, if she though that God must sustain the universe in perfect condition - He NEVER, and i mean, NEVER promised any of that. That's what people made up (or catholic or orthodox church have implied). We are separated from God, we are alone withou HIm, on out own.
    Acknowledging that, i think it's smart to chose Him and make that decision. Nobody force you, nobody CANNOT force you, and you won't loose anything, why everyone is so scared about it?) This happens in your home, nobody will even know. What will happen? Money will fade away from a prayer? Or that it will actually work?

The only argument I can come up with is that God already knows what we would have done if He made his existence as plain as the nose on our face and so it doesn't matter because God knows all alternate realities and our choices in those alternate realities. Except that anyone who's read the bible has seen that even after god reveals itself the people are still free to make a decision. Eve knew god existed but she was still able to choose her own path......satan definitely knew god but it still chose its own path. God revealing itself only answers one question....it exists and that's it. Whether a person then chooses to worship that god is another issue altogether.

    The problem with this argument is if you ever actually get to know people who aren't saved, it takes an unreasonable amount of faith to say better evidence wouldn't save many of them. A religion that couldn't codify that owning other people as beatable transferable property was empathetically ignorant and a shitty option for a social construction, looks man made. Note to this day this has never been codified by a prophet or anything unlike thou shalt not lie or don't eat shellfish. The greatest sin one can commit isn't murder or abuse of kids. No, according to this religion it's skepticism. You can literally be a person who spent most of their life a cold blooded killer and go to heaven, but if you ask too many questions you're damned. Maybe, just maybe, god didn't talk to the aztecs, african tribes, native americans, and so many more (some isolated tribes still to this day) but in fact was localized to an area because christianity was just another man made cult. The "keeps asking you out" thing is a terrible anaogy seeing as none of these people I mentioned through history ever heard of jesus. How is anyone rejecting someone they don't know exists? At least the Mormons had the sense to try and rectify that a bit. Also, why are the stakes all tied up in a short human lifetime? All believers can respond with is god is mysterious or they wholesale make up some fan fiction full of self-contradiction. But to hear people say that they can't understand the nature of god then try and tell everyone the nature of god is not terribly convincing.
