    • @Totalinternalreflection
      @Totalinternalreflection 3 місяці тому +11

      Yes because at this stage we have no other choice, we have to use the parts of the NHS that have already been sold off and bring in more private help too while also increasing funding for the rest of the NHS and improving wages for staff, in order to get the waiting lists down. I don't like it either but there's simply no other way, the cost and time it would take to renationalise is just too high. Meanwhile countless thousands are dying because their condition worsens or progresses to untreatable while they are stuck on waiting lists.
      In summary getting the waiting lists down is priority number one, while taking back our NHS is a longer term project. I just hope labour get enough time in power to really turn things around again like they usually do.

      In the short term to clear the backlog as there isn't the capacity in the NHS. If we didn't then more people would be waiting for longer. Not really the biggest fan of Streeting but there is a reason to use private capacity in the short term. I agree however that we need to stay on their case so that the long term solution is that the NHS would be taking on this capacity.

    The transcript of Zetler’s interrogation revealed Lehi’s ties with the Nazis. “We will communicate with any military power ready to help with the establishment of the kingdom of Israel, even if it’s Germany,” Zetler is reported to have told the astonished interrogators. “The only condition is that we get weapons, so we can rebel against the English,” he added. “If Germany agrees to help us fight enemy number 1, the English, we’ll team up with it.” Zetler went on to say that Germany is “not an enemy of the Jews in Israel” and that Lehi would cooperate with the Nazis if it helped the underground “get this land,” meaning Palestine.

So yes, the NHS is a joke and not fit for purpose. And rest assured - if the tories get back in they'll do their absolute best to privatise even further...!
      Tories know exactly what they are doing - If we let them get away with it there won't be an NHS. And when that happens there's no going back...
      We'll end up with an American insurance system where a simple blood test cost $700, Child Birth $30,000, knee op $18,000, Cancer Treatment $100,000 and on top of that you'll have to predict what illness you might be suffering for the year ahead and pay to cover it! Streeting is an idiot, and completely missed or deliberately missed the questioners point.
    NHS boards decreed that everyone had to get an appointment within 48hrs, but the Doctor’s Practices manipulated the figures to show that everyone was getting an appointment within that time period by not issuing non urgent appointments 3 or 4 days in advance.
    As there were only ‘x’ amount of appointments available in the day and they would not issue appointments with more than 48 hrs notice, you could be trying for days on end to get an appointment within the next 48hr period and it therefore appeared in the statistics that everyone was getting an appointment within 48hrs.

People should have more freedom to choose their own care. Ok, I can't come into the surgery, so get someone to call me, if they can't help over the phone, make me an out of hrs appointment or something?

      With respect you have totally mist the point.
      After 18yrs of thatchers tory government from 1979-1997 the NHS was in a similar state as today. People waited two yrs for apps and were dying before seeing a consultant. When Labour won the 1997 election they rebuilt the NHS better than it had ever been. Where anyone could book a GP app on the day Guaranteed up to 48hrs. So if you (Sir/mad) were in need of immediate care you'd be seen Guaranteed!
      That guy winging about how he couldn't get an app at his convenience im sure would be in far more despair if he needed immediate care but had to wait for some other inconsiderate healthy person took presidents.
      So, taking account of how bad the tories left the NHS in the 90s to how Labour restored it in 2000s and how the tories have again destroyed it since. How would you prefer it to be?
