Brilliant video, love your work and also the honestly on your riding, no massive jumps or drops. But just a dude on a bike Having fun and enjoying the trails👌
Carrabassett is great and Freeman Ridge Bike Park is nearby and is totally worth stopping by for a shorter ride on really well-built trails as well! And in Maine, the ski season is a similar length to the MTB season.
This is the first time I've seen trails that remind me of what we have here on the Great Dividing Range in Australia. Dense trees and good dirt and winding trails, but we do have more exposure though. Its great to see!
Love how Rocky it is. Very nice. I like that trail. It's my kind of trail. I ride a hardtail. Getting a new specialized rockhopper expert in 2 weeks. Can't wait.
I live in Maine and Sugarloaf is always packed in the winter, and it’s an amazing experience to go and ski and snowboard with hundreds of people that share the same interest
Really nice video again. I am glad that you mentioned the Sentier du Vieux Moulin in Quebec. I hope that next year, without the border problem like this year, you can come back for a ride. Good summer!
@@socialsophie are they pretty flat or are there some nice dh. I just came back from riding UCSC in California, 4 miles of climbing and then gnarly descent all the way down. Hundreds of trails or more. Was hoping to find something like that here.
I wish you could come back through Arkansas and ride some of our newer trails. There is a lot more in Arkansas than just the northwest corner. This video had a therapeutic feeling about it for us. Great job!
20:00: a brown tailed hawk once swooped over my friend's helmet around Athens, GA. I guess it didn't like us being there on Jefferson Road. I can assure you it could have done some real damage.
Maine looks pretty amazing! Always reminds me of our cardiology lectures in PA school. The cardiologist who taught them had practiced in Maine, and he would title the case studies he presented as "Tales From The Woods." Haha! I recall photos of moose, as well!
Trestle bike park is huge and open all summer... turns winterpark ski resort into a massive bike park... snow king and jackson hole in wyoming also turn into pretty large bike parks in the summer.
Ive been riding Carrabassett for 20 years now its crazy the changes they have made and continue to make. Plans for a lift service bike park in the future🤟
Nice to see you there. I rode that spot a few years ago. I went to meet the real estate broker and bought my snowmobile house twenty minutes up the road. After that I went the trails. I don’t know what they don’t run the lift for bikes. Sunday River south west from there does I believe. Thanks for showing me what missed , I have the map I’ll put it all together some day 😊❤️🇺🇸
I love very close to Auburn and have yet to try Apetite. I usually find myself at Blackstrap in Falmouth! Your comment has me intrigued though! Do you suggest a trail on Appetite?
I don't pay attention to when sugarloaf resorts opens and closes, but on the east, it's more like 6 months. Killington is october-may most of the time. More ski resorts need to offer downhill parks though.
Hey! @BKXC I see you are often with your phone in hand trying to figure out where the trail is. The most convenient I've found so far is a Garmin Vivoactive 3 watch (or equivalent :) ) with the "DW Map" app. On top of tracking my ride and health data, It also allows me to build a route in trailforks and then upload it to my watch. It's super useful! Just a quick look at my wrist and I can see the route and instantly know whether I should turn left, right or if I just drifted away from my planned route. Cheers!
Great job Brian ! I find it nerve racking to ride a foreign trail alone. I am about to go ride Fire Mountain in Cherokee NC. Never been on that trail and will be alone so hopefully I don't get too lost. I've got to get my phone apps setup and should help a lot.
Get a Garmin GPS, download the traild to the GPS. Much better than pulling out the phone and looking at TF. If you don't want to spend a lot of $$$, the Edge 25 is very basic but it DOES do the job.
I’ve ridden carabassett valley trails from the base of sugar loaf and the NEMBA chapter up there truly does a phenomenal job maintaining and building trail up there! Only problem is it’s in no mans land and it takes forever to get there! Hope you enjoyed it
I went up there in May '19... It was too early and the trails on the resort side were closed! So I gotta get back sometime. But Newton's Revenge was fun. By the way, for viewers of this video, hit up The Hungry Trout in Rangeley and get the deep fried ribs with Blueberry BBQ sauce. You're welcome.
Mammoth Mountain in the Californian Eastern Sierras has an amazing infrastructure for a MTB Park. It has that whole MTB people thing going on in the village.
HEY Bri.... Love your videos. Watching your state to state shred. Nice job. On future videos would you please indicate at the beginning the date? Planning my trips. Tks. Jmcc
I've only skied Sugarloaf once and the conditions were awful, I would love to go back. I would also like to go up in the summer for mountain biking, the eastern states cup wants to have an enduro at these trails
Sugarload USA is my favorite ski resort in the world. I suspect they will go biking in the next 5 years. It's not the most iconic, or the most known, but as far as skiing goes it has everything to offer!
There's a number of bike parks in British Columbia besides Whistler. Silverstar, Big White, Revelstoke, Kicking Horse, Revelstoke, Fernie, Sun Peaks and Mount Washington to name a few. Bcpov is planning to ride most of them this year.
When u came through south Carolina u went to the boring trails. If u ever come back through hit stomp house up near Clemson. Plus there's a lot near table Rock also
the new Garmin edge 1030 plus has all trailforks trails pre-installed with future trail updates supported, so no need for data use or service on your phone to see the trails, mine is on it's way, it's worth a look
Sugarloaf is open about 5.5-6 month a year. Also, people on bikes are almost always able to also pedal uphill, skiing (unless you have specialized equipment) is pretty much downhill only. Makes people less inclined to pay $100+ for a lift ticket if they can just pedal themselves up another trail system.
I was at Uwharrie in NC yesterday and rode 2 blue squares, thats more than enough for a 65 year old man who had open heart surgery in 2002 a 4X bypass, slept like a log last night afterwards. Bought a pair of Northwave Clan shoes, far superior to the Giro jackets i was using
I’m telling you visit the micro bike park at Essex Woods in Bangor Maine. If not that then don’t forget about other areas in the Penobscot region such as great Pond Mountain wild lands and it’s legendary capstone Trail or the Kiske trails of Denham Maine overlook trail.
Minnesota has figured out that the old, depressed, shut-down areas on the Iron Range are Great for year-round sports like mountain biking. Minnesota now has 4 fantastic locations up north from Cuyuna to Giant's Ridge, to Duluth that are some of the best in the mid-West.
Hmm Maine, chain, you are a poet & didn't know it? Lol the Trailforks system has been a pain in my butt all summer. Very aggravating. These UA-cam ads are getting overwhelming. Lol Keep having fun. Stress less, ride more. Stay safe.
When you finish this series, you should ride some more in Alberta, we have a few good trails, but mainly not in Lethbridge, but, it would be fun to ride with you if you ever come to Lethbridge, we have steep ones, and easy ones, jumps, and more
I like Trailforks and that weird straight line issue seems to happen on a lot of my rides - particularly if I stop and take some photos with my phone. However, if you save your ride, it always shows up correctly when I look back at it.
Been listening to James Nestor's "Breath" book on Audible. I do all I can to breathe through my nose when climbing. It works well but sometimes it feels you are suffocating. Getting better at it though.
Nice ride! I hear ya on Trailforks. I love how the app can act as a map but it bums me out with how glitchy it is. Maine looks legit! Next stop....Kingdom Trails in VT!
Just an FYI update on CT trails since I think you are pretty close. A lot of cleanup has been done and most of the higher ranking (most popular) trails have been cleared. Hope you can hit it up soon!
I use Strava and then set up Strava and Trailforks to sync after my rides, so I still get the trail conditions email in case you've been using that feature Brian. Seems Trailforks tracking is hit-or-miss but Strava always works.
Why don’t you get a garmin instinct, you can create the route then upload the GPX file and upload it to the watch and just follow it like a sat nav. Great video
I’m now convinced your not a mountain biker wanting to shred in every state but rather your just on the run from Wells Fargo! 😳 great vid🤘🏻
They can't repo the van if he stays on the move! Plus the delay in uploading vids to UA-cam throws them off and keeps them 2 states behind!
