Hello. My dog just tested positive for exposure to heart worms. There were no microfilariae in the blood but my vet is consulting with a specialist to decide the best course of treatment. We have only had our dog for a month. She is a retired racing greyhound from Daytona Beach Florida. I am hoping for a good outcome. I am having trouble understanding exactly what “exposure “ to Heartworm means. Has she been bitten before? Treated before? I just do not know.
