Hey dude I know you're not a fan of flagship brands and their lineup of portable speakers but this one is actually good! I think it deserves that credit and long time no seeing you here because of something I was going through but I'm glad to be back now.
Oh yeah, after a hard working day, an Alan Video, very good quality videos, very good EQ settings, all important things mentioned for very much speakers in very much videos. Sophisticated.
Thank you so much for all the amazing and hands-on tests of the BOSE SoundLink Flex speaker! I compared it to the JBL Charge 5 and Flip 6 and didn't give it much of a chance at first, but now I see how great the speaker is. Thank you and greetings from the Czech Republic!
The flare 2 really surprised me after I tested it against the earfun l motion+ and flex. It destroys the UE boom2 but what doesn’t. The flare 2 is surprisingly warm and decent for under 60 cad ea. So much better when paired even prefer the sound over the earfun which I also have paired. Much closer to the flex in terms of sound just doesn’t have the depth, loudness or control of the flex. But for $120 you can’t really complain.
I can’t believe I’m saying this but when compared to Bose’s other bluetooth speaker offerings the Soundlink Flex is kinda priced smartly at $149. Overpriced yes but not outrageously so, especially when you consider what you’re getting. Bang for buck carry A LOT of weight with me but the Soundlink Flex has me considering getting my first Bose 🤔
Maybe. When it goes on sale of course. Never pay retail here. BTW, did Tribit ever send you their XSound Mega? I have it and it’s a big missed opportunity with it only having 1 driver. It should’ve been the MaxSound Plus but with more bass but sadly….
I like the Soundcore at lower volumes and the Bose at higher volumes the other one I would never consider its ulgly and and sounds bad at higher volumes and meh at lower volumes.
The Bose Flex costs much more, but has a built in mic, multipoint connection, made out of metal with little plastic to the touch, and comes in nice colors. Sure, on pure sound quality you can do better, but the overall experience of using the speaker, I think the Flex speaks for itself (pun intended). I have the boost and want to upgrade to the Flex.
At least the Bose Flex somewhat justifies it's price tag moreso than similarly priced offerings from JBL (although they're slowly improving). If space is of utmost importance it might be more worthwhile for the money to invest in the Minirig system instead of the Bose. Granted, the Minirigs lose on durability, though. I think the Boost is the best bang for buck. I'm still trying to decide if the Bogasing is worth the hassle of constant mode changing but I like it's rugged form factor. Thanks for another outstanding comparison, Alan! 😁👍👏
the bogasing is all about price, it needs to be around £50 to make sense but then its decent value. the minirig mk3 on its own wont have that warm sound of the bose, you HAVE to be adding the sub at some point for it to make sense.
I have Bose Micro for 2 years now. Month ago I bought Flex and I’m satisfied with it. It prefect replacement for old Micro. Size & weight of Flex is good and the sound is very good. Battery could be larger (~4500mAh) but it is what it is.

I really like when the speaker has warm and strong bass. I would like to also watch some movies paired with the speaker, so dont want any delay.
@@bartoszzarychta9632 there is always delay on Bluetooth, the question is whether its noticeable or not. aux can get you zero latency. for me the latency on the bose was as good as anything i tested, flip 6 not too good.

All those speakers are trash compared to something like Teufel, German quality products over everything. I had the motion plus and its a good product for it's price of around 80 dollars, but overall, it's really not that great. Muddy Bass, highs are not clear enough, overall narrow sound stage. If you need an equalizer to make a speaker sound good, or even to make it sound better, its a bad speaker. It means the speaker itself cant produce a pleasant enough sound. Same with Motion Boom and so on. You always get what you pay for. Rather invest in Teufel, B&O, Dali and if you want lifestyle products in Marshall but skip the rest, its trash
All speakers are EQed out of the box, do you even know what you're talking about ? God I hate when people complain because of a product having more options. Are you also from the ones who think that headphone jack removal is a good thing ? When phones that do have one can still do bluetooth ?
@@ThibautMahringer Yes I know what I'm talking about and of course the speakers are already set out of the box, but if they still have some weird peaks in specific frequency ranges or sound muddy out of the box like the motion plus, they can't be good, because you cannot fix that problems entirely with an EQ. I dont complain about the option for EQ, I complain about all those low price "budget speakers" in the first place, no one who loves music and wants good sound would listen to those, there are so many better options out there, thats what I'm talking about. And instead of getting 5 cheap speakers, get one proper one
its all about opinions. i wouldnt say the motion plus out of the box sounds muddy, it has clear highs to my ears and decent dispersion. you also said it sounds good for a price of £80 so im not sure what the issue is. if you want better spend more 😁😁 no disagreement there. its not that you need custom eq to make it sound better, but different to original tuning. factory tuning is not always about optimising sound but also about things like conserving battery life or tuned to a specific market you are targeting. So when there is a ton of headroom left like with the plus you can tailor it and embed it, no layered eq. its win win. maybe you just didnt have your morning coffee today? 🤷♂️🥃👍 and as has been said before, these speakers all have dsp eq. Active speakers and dsp is the future. one day it will only be a niche market (audiophiles?) that wants passive speakers without dsp (eq).
@@alanrossreviews Yeah you are right in the end its just opinions. Didnt want to attack you or your work in any way but I have to say I saw reviews of the motion plus, also yours and I bought this speaker with high expectations because of all the reviewers hype. When I got it though I wasn't pleased with the sound to say the least, even with EQ. My wife and friends of mine didnt like the sound aswell so I just wanted other people to know that there are much better speakers out there, which are not that much more expensive, like I mentioned the ones from the german brand Teufel are much more audiophile imo. Its worth it to spend a little more for great sound. For 80 bucks its alright, but not worth the hype especially other reviewers created. Came across a bit salty I know but I love good sound and I want to get more attention on more audiophile speakers. Maybe you could test some Teufel products aswell

its all about opinions. i wouldnt say the motion plus out of the box sounds muddy, it has clear highs to my ears and decent dispersion. you also said it sounds good for a price of £80 so im not sure what the issue is. if you want better spend more 😁😁 no disagreement there. its not that you need custom eq to make it sound better, but different to original tuning. factory tuning is not always about optimising sound but also about things like conserving battery life or tuned to a specific market you are targeting.
Maybe you could test some Teufel products aswell
for the price though... we just get 1.5 motion booms instead ya? ;)
no you get two booms if you hit the right deal. but try putting two booms in your rucksack. 😎
So if you own a Bose Flex you must have £40m… 🤣🤣 Good review, I think I’m going to have to get a Flex and pretend I have £40m 🤣🤣
yup and play it while relaxing in the bath on a lilo to complete the illusion 😝😝 how you doing? any progress on any of the problem fronts?
@@alanrossreviews Haha… I wish I had a bathtub that could fit a lilo 🤣 I’ve just had one “problem” after another. Everything is delayed. I’m going to start up the channel in March/April health permitting. I’m getting a new car with apparently decent speakers to try out, as something different and then I shall concentrate on requests. 🤞🏻🤞🏻
we are all waiting for your return, hope things work out 👍🥃
Would you recommend 2 flexes for the stereo mode. Would it make a big difference in the sound quality
it should do but i never tried it
