.I am now in my 90th year and have been an angler since I was a boy. I still use my "Alcocks Arial" reel, as it was known in the 60s. It is still as good as the day I bought it. I also have my tackle in a basket but I sit on a comfortable seat now. I am a joke to many other anglers as I still fish in the old-fashioned way but still catch my share of fish. To some, I'm known as "Mr. Crabtree" but it doesn't worry me. However, I have made one nod to modernity, I now have a beautiful 15 ft carbon rod, and my 12 ft split can rod is now on the wall of my study. These videos are a real joy to watch and, like going fishing, an escape from this ghastly modern world we now have to live with.
Thanks for the comment and you are not wrong with your recognition of the "ghastly world" we now live in....Your use of words is far more conservative than my own with that description. If this is the modern world I have to say it was far less stressful in the 50's and 60's. Nice to hear you are still soldiering on with the fishing ,and good luck with whatever tackle you end up using...
I can tell that from the comments I get,all using sentences and understandable , so as long as a few people enjoy the midweekers I'll keep working my way through the film stock.
I use Pringles tubes as rig bins. Piece of foam pipe lagging down the middle, jobs a good'un. Ready salted for wire traces and circle hooks, salt and vinegar fluoro hook lengths for barbel, and so on. Cork board push pins keep the swivel or loops in place. Lighter and much cheaper than branded carp gear. And free crisps with every bin.
Another totally awesome 🎣 session Graeme 👍👍. Especially the center reel section, as I own 1 that is older than my farther. How is 87 years young 😂, I found it a a yard sale 30+ years ago in New Tradegan 🏴. Cost me 25 pounds & I only used it for Grayling fishing, I will be using it for more species of fish now. Tight lines Graeme 🎣👍🎣👍.
I've got the same pellets and yes their badass for squirrels, there's, I don't know, a blue million seems like of gray squirrels back behind the house here and those little sobs will get into everything, aggravates me so bad! Anywho, good deal Graeme, as always 👍👍🤙✌️
Thank God for T.A. Fishing. Both the wife and I have been fighting the you-know-what for about 2 weeks now. We both got hit pretty hard, with her ending up in the hospital for 3 days. ((We both doing a lot better). Doctor said no doing anything including/especially fishing til I go at least 48hrs symptom free. Well guess what? It's past 48hrs so 1st thing in the am, I plan on being on the bank of my favorite pond. If not for back episodes of T.A. Fishing (and T.A. Outdoors), I would have gone absolutely nuts. My son (who didn't have it) said some large Pike hitting real hard at our favorite pond so like I said, come 9am, I am going to try my luck. Both lures and live/dead bait. Already got my gear rigged and in the truck. Wish me luck.
Its nice to see Graeme getting his old tackle out ,I noticed Gray prefers the FK Wallis casting method using his pin ,not sure why you would pull out line before casting. If you have Rudd in your swim, shallow up and use sweetcorn skins on a small hook.
Lovely bit of fishing with the centrepin Graeme. I use mine for most of my fishing these days, some people think it’s a bit of elitism but it’s just fun. There are some very good reels on the market these days, you don’t need to spend hundreds on a match aerial or a Grice & Young. You can get one of these Chinese jobs for about £40 that will last forever & spin forever. Hemp & tares on the pin. Memories of summer days fishing the river Lea endless bags of roach. Thanks for the videos Graeme, Fridays and midweek.
A very nice video, thanks. Lovely place and we all want wherever place we choose . . . for it to be heaving with hungry fish. I think I prefer tussling with these "small" carp than trying to heave in a monster. Nice demo too of using a centrepin. Unfortunately the one you were using is no longer available. i am thinking of getting a cheapo NGT Japanese made centrepin, to go after mullet with, close in work . . .
Apparently the oriental versions are quite good, I have heard from other sources. I have never used them, but I got rid of my old Match aerial and a Rapidex in an auction somewhere and wish I hadn't....
@@TAFishing I have yet to even use a centrepin. But from what I have been able to understand, you get a much more sensitive feel for the fish with one. As I mentioned, I plan going after mullet in very shallow, close-in spots, so casting is not an issue. Yes, those old pins of yours could probably fetch you in some nice money, now. As my fishing trips are very few and for between, the el cheapo 40 quid Japanese centrepin will do.
@@richardjones2811 There's no better tool for trotting a float, and the "clutch" is infinitely variable with thumb pressure. Retrieve takes longer. Downside is casting distance on still waters, though the Wallis cast helps.
I have a challenge for you Mr p I use to sight target wild carp on freelined bread on a centre pin 7lb line straight through in guildford Surrey and on the Basingstoke canal !!! How's that for a challenge!!!! My biggest was a 19 pound mirror carp and fought like stink love you videos and I never miss a upload when you sea fishing next ??? It is big bass season these next 3 months I bet you must of had a 10 pounder by now
In the boat yes,but I have never even seen another shore angler with a ten pounder let alone had one that size myself. If I ever catch one that's great and if I don't that's Ok as well .Obviously never having had a 10lb shore Bass I am a miserable failure of an angler, not worthy to set foot on the beach , but I have always been happy catching anything from the shore, whatever the size. Nice Carp on your centrepin, but when you said you targeted Wild Carp I thought you meant a proper Wild Carp ,which are rarer than a ten bob note and rarely grow much over about 8lbs on average. But a 19lb Mirror is still a nice fish. Well done. Your next target should be a true `Wild Carp on freelined bread, and good luck with that one !!...Might be a while coming.
You sir are not a failure for not getting that near impossible 10 lb bass you are an inspiration!!!! And I never even knew about true wild carp until a second ago !!! I should of said river carp or canal ect I guy here in anglesey had a 12 pound bass by pure luck on a hole mackerel called game keeper John and he posted it on line!!! I hope I am half the fisherman of you one day !!!! I'm that guy that had the 600 pound blue marlin in Grand canaria but I bet that would bee a small one for you !!
I don't like looking at my phone all the time when fishing(shore), so it is one of of the few times I wear a watch. Mostly to check the time when bites/fish come so I can make a note of it when I get home.
I haven't worn a watch for 4 years and its amazing how close its possible to get guessing the time. I only switch the phone on quickly to check when I should leave but I do it really quickly so it doesn't have time to fire texts or voicemails at me and thereby spoiling my session. Its never going to be my master...I always make it wait.
I would say where they are rooting around, just like you can get a "winged" hookup the same way. More so float fishing as the line is vertical to the bait so they bump the line and give you a false bite .Its a match lake so no shortage of fish in there.
Graeme is a legend, his vids are very entertaining and sometimes a bit of amusement. This man has caught more species of fish over 100lb than the majority of people commenting here. Would love to fish with him, would be a blast 😊

Good angling Graeme. That Grass Carp, certainly put a good bend in your rod. Excellent program.
Great to see a center pin in use brilliant reel used mine for years wier fishing for roach using silk weed for bait happy days back then 70s and 80s .
Great to watch as always Sir! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for another excellent video Graeme and yes keep posting the midweek specials, we "older folk" appreciate it..👌

nothing like watching a float on a nice sunny day.

Really enjoyed watching you had a good day's fishing for sure

Good luck with the fishing, and hopefully the Pike are on the bite.
Cant beat using a centrepin. I use mine more then any other reel these days
Great again thanks 😊
Your channel is a real find for everyone who is looking for a share of good mood and joyful moments. Keep inspiring and making our days better!💧🐣🛩
Hopefully more to come, going to spool through the drive files tonight and see what we can do for the next midweeker...

If you have Rudd in your swim, shallow up and use sweetcorn skins on a small hook.
Because its only a light float and I am on stillwater. Not enough to weight to cast with float alone.
It's common sense which in your case is not common.😊

No problem,I would have liked to film it on a river full of fish but that's something of a rarity nowadays,so the lakes had to be the place to use it.
smith was slackin again😂

Why bother since we've got easier reels to use through advances in technology?

That's a big Carp on the "pin" ..well done.
Smart pin that.
Great video on channel thanks lee

On 5:58 min. How do you hook a fish in the toplip from the outside in ?

👍👍👍
Get yourself a squirrel proof nut feeder, then instead of chasing squirrels, (and picking up pellets) you'll have more time for fishing. 😂👍
