  • Today we are back at Blue Mountain Village Ontario to share with you everything you need to know. The Blue Mountain village is just outside of Toronto, perfect for a long weekend away. Blue Mountain is also the number 1 Ski Resort in Ontario. There is lots to see and do.
Blue Mountain is a recreational area that is about a 2 hour drive from Toronto, Ontario and includes year round activities and various resorts. The Blue Mountain Village area is a dining and entertainment area at the base of the mountain. It is open all year round to enjoy after a hike or skiing. Blue Mountain is best known for its winter activities with 42 Ski runs, 16 ski lifts and 3 terrain parks. Over the warmer months there are over 20 hiking trails and other activities to enjoy.
In the village there is different restaurants and stores. There are 32 restaurants, food outlets and night clubs and 21 different stores to explore. While we were there we tried a few. We visited Rusty's Bar & BBQ, Northwinds Brewpub & Craft Beer Store, and Oliver and Bonacini. Another favourite spot for Linda is Royal Majesty Espresso Bar and Bakery. Whatever you fancy there is a restaurant for you.
Overall Blue Mountain and Blue Mountain village provide a lot of great recreational options for just about anyone. Although we both ski and snowboard you can spend a lot more time here enjoying so many of the other activities, we quite enjoyed hiking the mountain and wondering around. They also have a bunch of special events like a light show / hike on the top of the mountain when we were there or Christmas themed events on now. We really enjoyed our time here, we have stayed at both Blue Mountain Inn and the Westin Trillium House and we have reviews of those rooms as well if your interested in booking.
We hope that you enjoyed our tour of the Blue Mountain resort area. Have you ever taken the Blue Mountain gondola? Do you have a favourite restaurant? Is there somewhere in Ontario you would like us to review? Let us know in the comments below.
Thank you for watching. If you liked our video please give us a thumbs up and subscribe.
    Happy Travels

how does parking work? free? fee? can you leave and come back during the same day and reuse the same parking voucher (or do you need to pay again every time you exit/reenter)?

The "mountain" isn't really a mountain to begin with. It's a ridge that stretches for several kilometers. There is no mountain top. It's fun to explore the many runs by gradually moving from one end of the resort to the other. I've skied out West, and absent being in tip-top shape and an expert skier, when you are out West you rarely do an entire 3,000 foot vertical drop in one run. Your thighs burn out a lot sooner than that. The 700' at Blue Mountain is just enough to burn your thighs, and you are happy for the break of a seat on the chair lift to get to the top of the hill again. One evening after dinner, my son, my nephew and I did 24 trips down the lighted Smart Alec run (there were no lines at the lift that evening) which amounted to over 16,000 vertical feet of skiing, and that was after skiing all day before breaking for dinner. You don't get the views you would get on a 10,000 ft. mountain, but the view of Georgian Bay from the top of the hill is pretty spectacular. It's the best place to ski within reasonable driving distance from my home, and a lot cheaper than flying out West. The one criticism I would have is that the weather is unusually unsettled due to the adjacent Georgian Bay and Lake Huron looming a bit to the West. The microclimate tends to be extra-windy and a bit warmer due to the summertime heating of the lake water. The lakes mean lake-effect snow when a cold front blows through, which is a plus for skiers, but those same lakes mean you can catch warmer than freezing temps and sloppy snow conditions. The resort does have prodigious snow-making capacity, though, so you'll always have places to ski even if the early season temps are a bit high due to the proximity of the lakes.

@@TravelingFlamingo Lake Tahoe is spectacular and they measure the snow in feet. That snow tends to bit a bit moisture laden at times, rather than the powder snow you might see in the Rockies. I"ve never skied the Rockies, and I'm almost certainly too old now at 70 to fork over the money to try and enjoy those slopes. Some aspects of the good life need to be enjoyed while you are young.
