I wanted to kindly ask if you could compare different Christian Presbyterian denominations. The reason I am asking you this is because I heard that if you were not in the PCA, you would be in the RPCNA.
This is exactly the emphasis of the Reformation, both Luther and Calvin. Just read what they said.
Hi Dr Matt. I'm currently grappling with "Once Saved Always Saved" vs "No Holiness No Heaven". I once believed in the former, which made my assurance strong. But recently I lean more towards the latter, after noticing that my lifestyle was Antinomian. However, my assurance is now shaky. I'd love to hear your thoughts. Thanks.
What does Christ say in in John 6:44? What about Paul in Philipians 1:6? What about Romans 8:29-39? I think those verses may answer your question
Salvation is by faith alone. But Faith is justified by works. That’s the problem. So while salvation is apart from works the assurance is by love and experience. Or feelings and actions. Is this not what Scripture teaches in many places? And apart from theodicy is this not the biggest difficulty in Christianity?

While I was in high school back in 1992, I became a Christian. It was a radical transformation in my personal life. I fasted weekly, preached in the streets and proclaimed the gospel in the hallways of my high school, to almost everyone I’d met. I stopped cussing, smoking partying etc. It truly was a super natural and radical conversion.
However, this fire slowly began to quench. I stopped fasting, then I stopped preaching. Slowly I began backsliding. Fast forward 32 years later, to today 2024, and I am a glutton, porn addict, slothful, carnal Christian. I still go to church currently and even perform in the worship team.
So to conclude this comment, I would like to know. Am I still saved?
Have u done the Father’s will as Matthew 7:21 says
John 6:39-40 39 And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.
40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.
If u haven’t simply believed in the Lord Jesus Christ as it says here u haven’t done the Father’s will aka ur not saved. When I read ur comment it seems ur trusting ur works to see if ur truly saved. That is work salvation and u will end up as the people in Matthew 7:22-23 if u haven’t simply trusted in what Christ did for u on the cross 2,000 years ago. It’s either Christ KNOWS YOU or HE NEVER KNEW YOU cause U CANT LOSE SALVATION ONCE U BELIEVE IN CHRIST FOR THE REMISSIONS OF ALL SINS. If u can lose something that’s a free gift Romans 6:23 and that is eternal than it’s not eternal. Thank the Lord Jesus Christ that he doesn’t tell lies when he says if u believe in Him u shall not perish and that salvation isn’t based off our works cause we all have fallen short of the glory of God and deserve hell.
James 2:10 10 For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.
Galatians 2:16 16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.
Ephesians 2:8-9 8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Romans 4:1-6 4 What shall we say then that Abraham our father, as pertaining to the flesh, hath found?
2 For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not before God.
3 For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.
4 Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt.
5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.

Romans 8:38-39 38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
John 10:28-29 28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.
John 3:16-18 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
So examine yourself if u are part of the faith. What are u trusting in for salvation? Yourself a sinner who deserves hell that if he lives a change lifestyle and does works that are filthy rags in the sight of God Isaiah 64:6 for salvation, OR are u trusting in the sinless lamb who came to take the sins of the world by dying on the cross being buried and rising on the third day to give ETERNAL LIFE TO WHOEVER BELIEVES ON HIM.
1 Corinthians 15:1-4 15 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
Ephesians 1:13-14 13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

Salvation is not an Event. Salvation is a Process you began as an ELECT!
Justification is an event. Sanctification is a process.

It sure was an event in my life… and continues to be but ya that night was the greatest event of my entire life
Salvation generally describes the work of God in a sinner. It includes our justification, sanctification and glorification. Therefore it can both be an event and a process. Yet, don’t overgeneralise and confuse.
