For AdeptGS/BraveGS(sometimes, you rarely see a BraveGS TA that is based in TrueCharge Attacks), AdeptGL, StrikerCB, BraveBow(only if the monster has big openings so you can spam 4chrgLvl) are the best options to choose. It depends on the playstyle, monster and skills.
On paper the GL I used in this run would theoretically do the same damage within 5 mins assuming it was perma poisoned which I think it was. Compared to mantis GL with ch2 iirc even with having a huge difference in raw the 300 poison/60 secs can make up a good chunk of difference but its definitely not better than mantis overall by far.
I am not a GL user but, the gauge being yellow / stuck is minimal damage? I heard that keeping it red boosts damage by either 10% or 20%, but that was me at Gen, don't know if they changed the weapon in GU. But I see that doing a Wyvern fire would probably ruin the run even if it keeps the gauge at red for 2 full minutes with artillery lv0
Reduce chance of overheating. Wyvern firing is risky and from what I heard is not enough damage to be even worth using in speedruns. Also IIRC shelling fro gunlance has fixed percentage unless you have armors that boost shelling damage, prob not worth it for speedruns.
the gun part of gunlance just sucks in most tittles, MHW has ICE mod to rebalance it, this game have two mods which fixes gunlance somewhat, COPE mod and XX Rebalanced on gamebanana.
I was wondering when the wyvern fire was going to come out to lock the gauge but then you let it drop back to yellow and I thought "Why?". Then Gore died and I was like "Mmm i c". Good stuff.
With that style of melee play with valor with guard pointing and poking.. is there any significant difference between it and adept for this fight? Or one over the other overall in adept vs melee valor?
Awesome run! Would you say you can largely ignore the heat gauge? (as most of the fight you don't have it in red). I was always wary of trying GL because I don't want to worry about that gauge :D.
I know I'm 4 years late but DO NOT ignore the heat gauge. At red gauge you will deal about 20% more damage. That is insane and should be kept up at all times. And if you don't think you can do it, there is a hunter art that straight up sets your gauge to red, no work required.

You only have to use Mantis weapons if your talismans suck though OvO
Mantis weapon is good for stress-free playstyle due to extra 60 DEF, but it's dmg isn't best for speedrun.

I think bone structure of xeno'jiiva can be used for gore magala. So hoping for this beast at World.
is gore/shaggy not just the same bone structure as nergigante? Valstrax could be the same too...

Adept is still stronger generally but valor can be strong too and better depending on your skill lvl or just whatever you like best
