  • This is the demo tape that came with the JVC SC-F007 Compact Super VHS Modular Component Video System. Yes, 007 like James Bond.
I found this system complete in case at Goodwill and I believe this is the first time the demo tape has ever been digitized! This is a very unique system that can act like a camcorder, action camera, portable VCR... You're really only limited by your imagination. It's like the Nintendo Switch of early 90s camcorders.
Want to use it as a Walkman? Easy! Strap it to your head and jump out of a plane? Go for it. Watch movies while sitting in the passenger seat of a convertible while driving down the beach? Not sure why you'd want to, but that's totally possible.
The fact that I have never heard of this until now and that the only information about it on the internet is old news articles from when it was released in 1990 tells me that this system did not sell particularly well. Maybe because it was $2,500. Adjusted for inflation, that's about $6,000. A typical camcorder back then was under $1,000.
    Enjoy!

Some notable things about the video:
    • They never show the actual video from the camera. It's a fixed focus CCD camera that has more in common with a security camera than a camcorder.
    • They cut away from the camera holster at 4:06 because it's basically impossible to get it out with one hand.
    • The RC car they mount the camera to is a Tamiya Midnight Pumpkin. Leave a comment if you can identify the other car!
