Billy Joel. Piano Man. The song that made Billy's career start to take off, eventually turning him into a worldwide sensation. Billy himself used to work as a piano lounge singer, and the song is based on his own experiences during that time, with the characters he sings about being based on real people. Most people don't know this as his work is overshadowed by his pop hits, but Billy is also a trained pianist and composes classical works for piano, check out his Fantasies & Delusions! For now, enjoy this cover and have a beautiful Monday ♥
Justin Tansley tbh the best lyric ever written for me was John Lennon in strawberry fields : living is easy with eyes closed , misunderstanding all you see
When I was younger my Dad and I didn’t have the best relationship, we fought over stupid stuff and never seemed to get along. It was one thing after another and we grew distant even when I was very young. One day however I went downstairs on a particularly dark night as I was captivated by the sound of a piano and harmonica mixing to make a beautiful sound. My Dad and I didn’t talk, we just listened, we listened to Billy Joel sing about the bartender, the waitress, Davy in the Navy, and all the rest. My Dad and I have a good relationship now but the thing that started it was music and the first song that started it was Piano Man by Billy Joel. We’d sit and listen to the music and we gradually grew closer because of it. I’ll never forget that. When life gets tough it seems one of the first things I turn towards is listening to music. I apologize for the story but this song means a lot to me. Your piano cover was beautiful. Thank you.
